Once Upon a Time in Rainbow
The Hues ‘N News – April 2015
Hello Everyone,
I cannot believe I am sitting here writing my last Hues-N-News article of the year! It seems just like yesterday we
were at Grand Assembly. Since I last talked to you guys, the Memphis Area has had a couple Installations, a few service
projects, and two major ice storms! At one Installation I served as the Installing Officer and I was able to Install the beautiful
Katie Kerlin as Worthy Advisor. I was so proud of her and all her theme ideas were empowering and great for young girls to
look up to! Katie’s theme is “Be Your Own Kind of Beautiful”, with this she hopes to teach everyone that beauty comes in all
forms; you are the one who makes yourself beautiful!
Across the area, we have participated in a few service projects to help raise money for the Shriner’s Hospital. They
were all a success and we have many more coming up before Grand gets here!
Homecoming was recently held at my home Assembly in Memphis, Tennessee, on April 11, 2015. It was so great to
see so many people who had travelled all the way to Memphis to share this weekend! I was so glad to see my beautiful
Grand Page, Andrea K.! She looked stunning and I was glad I got the chance to visit with her and her mom! We had 3 out-ofstate guests spend the evening with us, 4 from Texas and 2 from Missouri! Those girls and adults were so kind and super fun
to talk to! We celebrated Obligatory Sunday before dinner with a sweet devotional given by Rev. Martin.
After dinner we moved into the Assembly Room where the Memphis Area opened the meeting. Kaelee Baker, from
my Assembly, did a great job serving as Worthy Advisor. Katie Kerlin took over as Worthy Advisor for Introductions, and let
me tell you they were some of the coolest Introductions I have ever been a part of! They used snip-its from actual Disney
songs and even audio from Harry Potter! It was so much fun singing along with the music and dancing! I think everyone in
the room enjoyed this different style of Introductions. During Introductions it was announced that Mentie Martin would be
joining the Grand Family! We are so excited to have her!
After Introductions, presentations were made and skits performed! Mom Fortenberry’s skit was toooo cute, it was
a Cinderella type skit that involved horses and carriages and even a Fairy Godmother! My skit was so sweet and sentimental
– each Grand Officer shared with me their favorite memory of the two of us. At the end the Grand Officers gave me a quilt
which I cannot wait to use! My Assembly then performed a skit where I had to answer trivia questions about Snow White,
which was pretty fun! I was so surprised to see that my Assembly gave me one of the Arribas Brothers glass artworks from
Disney World! It is so gorgeous! I’m truly blessed with wonderful people in my life.
The weekend was great and it was a great time of fellowship! It has been such an amazing year and I couldn’t have
asked for anything more. Each and every person in Rainbow across the state has made this
year everything and more for the Grand Family and I am so grateful for that! I look
th
forward to seeing everyone at Camp Day on June 6 and again at Grand Assembly for the
th
86 annual Grand Assembly “Once Upon a Time in Rainbow…” Session to see how our
beautiful story will end happily ever after.

News from Mom Fortenberry…
My Dear Rainbow Family,
What a wonderful Homecoming. It was great seeing so many of you there to give
Alison a welcome home! I know she was pleased with everything. Now it is time to get
READY for Grand Assembly in Franklin on June 27-29. We have accomplished a lot this
year and traveled many miles to get the work done. It is now time to be together again as
a family and give our best.
Cassidy E., we missed you at Homecoming and we look forward to working with
you at Grand Assembly. We know you will do a great job as our Grand Page.
The year of Official Visits, Leadership, Christmas Gathering, Grand Officers
Practice, Homecoming, and bringing Greetings to our Sponsoring Bodies has been
completed. Now we will travel to Monteagle Mountain for our Rainbow Camp Day event
and then on to Grand Assembly. A lot has been accomplished by Alison, Grand Worthy
Advisor, Mom Renee', Grand Officers, Grand Deputies, Rainbow Girls and Adults and
even by Dad Joe and me this year.
Our project to help the children of the Shrine Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky, is
due and I am hoping that each Assembly and Area will have worked hard to make this a
special year for our donation to the children. I know the Photo Booth has been a great
success for raising money for the children.
I would like to thank each one that helped make this year great for Alison, Grand
Officers, Mom Renee', and me as we traveled around the state visiting each area. We
have enjoyed being with you and meeting all the new Rainbow Sisters. We appreciate all
your hard work and being there and helping to make a lot of memories for each of us.
Thank you for all the courtesies shown to me and the presentation of gifts to Dad Joe and
me. We thank you for all that you do for us and we love each of you. Thank you Grand
Officers for the special gift at Homecoming for Rachel and me to go shopping. She loved
the princess jewelry box that my monetary gift from the area came in. It is in her room at
Grammy's house.
I hope you are working on membership, if you have not Initiated members this year
then please get busy and share your Rainbow Order. I know a lot of Assemblies have new
members and we appreciate all your hard work so please keep on sharing. Work on
bringing back members that have been out and also keep our Majority Members active. It
is great seeing these young ladies working and to know they
are here to help us in the work we need to do across the state.
I am looking forward to seeing each of you June 6 at
Camp and then on June 26 in Franklin for Grand Assembly
and our "Once Upon a Time in Rainbow" session.
Safe travels to all and God Bless each of you. See you
soon!
Love, Mom Fortenberry
“Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious” to Tennessee Rainbow!
Spring is Nature’s way of saying…..let’s party! (And I’m all about the party – right Mom
Fortenberry?)
Just returning from Homecoming – 2015 – Memphis style! A good time was had by all who
attended. Thanks to West Tennessee for doing a beautif ul job in hosting! I felt so welcomedhome! I enjoyed visiting with my Grand Page, Lacy Bertrand. She did an excellent job
serving as Recorder. After the meeting, the Grand Officers and I enjoyed a relaxing and
restful evening at the home of Mom Alice Harrington. The Grand Officers tried on their new
Grand Assembly dress; we then had a short meeting with our Grand Worthy Advisor, Miss
Alison Allensworth, and got caught up on “stuff”; then held a “cup exchange” – dirty Santastyle. Yours truly hit the bed around 2:30 AM! Thanks to Mom Alice for your hospitality!
Prior to Homecoming, the Grand Officers met Mom
Fortenberry and the Grand Deputies in Nashville to practice
for Grand Assembly. I am happy to report that the
practice went smoothly and that we were all smiles for the
camera! Thanks to Mr. Steve Johnson for taking our
pictures for the Grand Assembly program. We enjoyed a
warm and delicious soup and sandwich lunch served by the
Adults of the Nashville Area. Thanks to Claiborne
Assembly #8 for opening your doors once again!
In January, 2015, I attended the Installation of Officers
for Hendersonville #3, Claiborne #8, Old Hickory #27, and
Henry Lee Fox #85. The Installing Officers did an
excellent job, and I wish each new Worthy Advisor and her
Officers an outstanding term!
I hope that each of you will be attending Camp Day on
Saturday, June 6, 2015. The day will be filled with fun,
Mom Renee joins the Nashville Area
fellowship, crafts, games, prizes, food (of course), along
Grand Officers during their
with our Auction, which begins at 1:00 PM. BID HIGH AND
Grand Officer Tea
BID OFTEN during our Auction. This is a great day to
bring your friends and introduce them to your “Rainbow”. Also, remember to bring sma ll bills
to purchase your food, raffle chances, and game tickets. Please come on out and support
your Camp!
Also, looking forward to welcoming you to “Once Upon a T ime in Rainbow” Grand
Assembly, which is to be held at the Cool Springs Marriott in Franklin, Tennessee on June 27
– June 29, 2015. You will have a great time…….I promise!
And remember, every great story begins with “Once Upon a
Time”…..Rainbow makes them happily ever after!

Homecoming…Memphis 2015
Friends gathered to welcome Alison Allensworth home to her Assembly
at Memphis #1 on April 11 th . A delicious dinner and beautiful meeting
made many memories. Mentie Martin was appointed to fill the station of
Grand Love for this year. Visitors from Missouri and Texas came since their
Grand Assemblies are the same time as ours.
The Grand Officers at Homecoming joined
by out-of-state guests.
Texas’ Miss Service and Tennessee’s Grand
Representative from Texas joined Alison and
Mom Fortenberry with the Grand
Representative from Missouri.
Alison received a beautiful Disney crystal
piece of art!
Editor’s Note: The following two articles were omitted in the February issue. They are printed now with the Editor’s apologies.
Hello Tennessee Rainbow,
First off, we would like to thank everyone who came to the Upper East Official Visit! We hope everyone enjoyed the
decorations, food, and games. I know we are very grateful it did not flood so that everyone could stay and see what the
Upper East girls can do!
We have been busy raising money for the Shriner’s Hospital by collecting metal cans to sell. We started a new
fundraiser this year to raise money for everyone go to Grand Assembly ,where we sold casseroles and pies that we hand
made at Sarah Belcher’s house.
For our Christmas service work we did two projects. The first one
was sponsoring an “Elf Kid”, which is similar to the Angel Tree project. We
went shopping and bought a 7-year old boy gifts so that he could have a
better Christmas. Our second project was to help a Masonic family at our
lodge. They had recently been having a lot of health issues, including a
failed hip replacement surgery and multiple hospitalizations. Due to these
health issues there were not able to decorate much for Christmas so we
offered to come over and decorate their tree with them. We had a lot of
fun helping these adults who have helped us so much.
To celebrate Christmas, our assembly went to see the Speedway in Lights at the
Bristol Motor Speedway. There were dinosaurs, sea animals, castles, lights set to
music, and so much more! On the track there is an area called “Christmas Village”
where we rode the carousel and spinning peppers. But before we left we made
sure to drink hot chocolate and eat fried Oreos at Rudolf’s Diner. A great part
about this trip was that a portion of the proceeds go to local children’s charities.
After we saw the lights we had some good laughs exchanging gag gifts!
We are excited about the rest of the year and what it has in store for us! We look
forward to seeing everyone again at Homecoming.

I hope you all had a wonderful holiday season full of joy and thanksgiving! I really enjoyed being able to slow down
and spend time with my family and friends!
It's hard to believe that we are halfway through the year already. I had a great time at Leadership Camp getting to
know everyone better. I would like to thank all the adults who worked so hard for us, especially those who made all the
special delicious food for me because of my allergies.
I also had a great time at the Christmas Party with the Grand Family! It was interesting to find out that I, “Scrooge
McDuck”, was the murderer in our murder mystery game. I felt more like the detective later on that night during our
scavenger hunt when we tried to find all the fun things in the James house. But the bouncy house in the backyard was
definitely my favorite part! I would like to thank all the Memphis area adults for helping us have such a good time.
School has kept me pretty busy for the past few months but I love it. I am very excited about having all A’s for my
first semester at ETSU and I am really looking forward to this next semester!
Lastly, I would like to give a big shout out to my Grand Page, Haven W.! I hope you are doing great and I can't wait
to see you at Homecoming!

Tennessee Rainbow and Friends,
I hope everyone that was able to make it to
Homecoming had a blast, I know the girls from the
Knoxville Area had a blast, we rode down together on a
bus. On the bus there was lots of eating, laughing,
giggling, and sleeping. It was definitely a great idea.
Thanks to Mr. Steve for driving down there, and Mom
Martha's "Race Car driving skills" we made it home
safely.
Thank you to the Memphis Area for my
Mahala and friends on the porch!
beyond beautiful engraved paper weight; it was a
perfect touch to my night stand. The decorations were perfect in every way, and the corsages
were very cute! This past weekend was on point.
I hope everyone is able to make it to Rainbow Sunday in their areas, and then the entire
state will reunite at camp MontMilner for camp day where we can have some crazy fun! Girls
remember to work on getting in new members, and Let's let Rainbow make lasting impressions in
our own life along with others.

Grand Fidelity 2014-2015
Greeting from Johnson City #71!
We recently Installed Cat Ballew as our Worthy Advisor. We are very excited about her term, “Service in Our Hearts
and Flowers in Our Hair”. We are busy working her project, Lunch Box Love, which was created by the Direct Sales Company
Initial Outfitters. It is a three-fold project where you choose to sponsor a lunchbox by donating $20. $13 goes to the
insulated lunchbox and the remaining $7 goes to items that you choose to fill the lunchbox with. We will be stuffing ours
with art supplies and donating them to our local St. Jude clinic. The company donates the profits from the lunch boxes to
build schools in Honduras. We plan to sponsor at least 10 lunch boxes!
We had a blast at Homecoming and were happy to be a part of
welcoming Alison home. We even enjoyed our 7 hour drive all the way to
Memphis. It was great to see everyone again and we cannot wait until Camp
Day!
Also, a huge thank you to our Advisory Board and adults for
supporting us.

Hello Everyone!
It already feels like forever since I've
seen my statewide Rainbow Sisters! I hope
everyone is doing well, and all of you are faring
well in the ups and downs of this spring
weather. It's hard to believe that this year is
coming to a close.
This Homecoming was such a blast, from
spending time with my Grand Family and other
Rainbow Sisters to traveling with the rest of
Knoxville area and having so much fun! A
special thank you to Mom Martha's husband
Steve for piloting the Mystic Coach and making
sure we arrived in Memphis safely. Camp Day is
approaching fast, and I can't wait to have more
fun in the sun with all of you! (Although, I think I
can wait on those cold sponges being poured
over me, haha!)
My Assembly has been busy hosting our
first annual Easter Bunny pancake breakfast.
Shout out to my dad, who played the part of our
Easter bunny so well! Our Worthy Advisor,
Mahala Cain, is planning a princess tea party for
the Knoxville area girls on April 25, hosted at
Glenmore Mansion with a sleepover afterwards.
We will truly feel like fairytale princesses,
straight out of a Disney movie!
I look forward to seeing everyone soon
at Camp Day and Grand Assembly! Hello to
Mackenzie H., my Grand Page. I hope to see
you at Camp and I look forward to working with
you at Grand Assembly.

look forward to seeing you at Homecoming and
Grand Assembly.
On January 24th, I attended our Installation
at Hendersonville #3. I was Installed as faith
and Kayla Lowe was Installed as our Worthy
Advisor. I would like to thank the Nashville
Area for attending.
On March 21 st , I attended the Grand Officers
practice at Claiborne Lodge. It was a full day of
practicing, but being able to spend time with
my Rainbow Sisters was fun. I would like to
thank all those who helped to set this up and
those who worked with us. Thank you for
taking time out of your day to help us.
On March 27 th , I traveled with Megan Sadler
to the Knoxville Initiation at Fountain City
Lodge. I served as Outer Observer. We
Initiated 2 young ladies there. Their names are
McKenzie and Mary Kayla. I would like to
welcome both of you to Rainbow and hope that
you find all of the love and support that I have
received throughout my years in Rainbow. If
you need anything, feel free to let me know and
maybe we can get together. I hope to see both
of you at Homecoming and Grand Assembly.
Homecoming in Memphis on April 11 t h was
great. I would like to thank Ms. Harrington and
the Area Girls for getting this ready for us to
come visit you. It is going to be sad with this
being our last O.V for the year. We attended
Rainbow Sunday on our return home from
Homecoming. I would like to send my thanks
and appreciation for the church allowing us to
spend a special service with them.
I would like to thank Mom Fortenberry for
giving me this appointment. I would also like
to thank Ms. Mickey Stagg, my family, and my
Assembly for supporting me. I've had a lot of
fun being Grand Outer Observer this year. I
can't wait to see everyone at Grand Assembly.

Kacey Farleigh
Hello to all,
I hope this finds you well and having a wonderful spring. I would like to say a special hello to
my Grand Page, Alisha K.
I have had a busy spring thus far with Rainbow functions and my high school band. It is amazing
how fast this year has flown. I have enjoyed this past year meeting new Rainbow Sisters and adults from
each area. It was a joy to see everyone at Homecoming. Thanks to all of those involved in planning
Homecoming. The food and meeting was a great success.
I would like to say a special "Thank you" to Ms. Georgia, Ms. Coco, and my Rainbow Assembly
for their support. A final thank you to Mom Fortenberry for allowing me to serve as Grand Chaplain this
past year. I look forward to seeing everyone at Camp Day and Grand Assembly.

Hey guys!
I hope you all have been having a lot of fun lately. I know I did at
Homecoming and at the Grand Officers practice!
My Assembly had an Installation where I went out as Worthy
Advisor and I am looking forward to our new one!
I cannot wait for Grand Assembly to see everyone's smiling faces
again! We are having an area Initiation soon and I am super excited to
serve at that!

Rachel Hogan, Grand Religion.
Hello all,
It was so great to be able to see all of my Rainbow Family at Homecom ing! We
had a wonderful night full of great food and fun. All the Memphis Area Girls did an
awesome job on their parts! The Grand Officers had a wonderful time at Mrs.
Harrington's house where we stayed up most of the night getting to catch up with
each other!
It has been a wonderful year traveling through to see everyone. I'd especially
like to thank the Adults for being there for us and helping things run smoothly. We
would not have Rainbow without all of you! I'm looking forward to Camp Day and
Grand Assembly where we will get our “Happy Ending”!
Until then!

Hello Everyone,
A special hello to my Grand Page, Cassie Dawson. I have had a great time getting to know you
and I think of you like the little sister I have dreamed of having in life.
I have attended and served at two Installations this year. Hendersonville #3 and the joint one of
Claiborne #8, Henry Lee Fox #85, Old Hickory #27 and Clarksville #126. The Installations were great
and congratulations to all the Worthy Advisors.
Thanks to the Knoxville area for making me feel welcome when I assisted in your Initiation
where the food and fellowship were very memorable. It was an honor to be asked to help another
Rainbow group outside of my home area. Rainbow Girls are a true family.
I attended the DeMolay Sweetheart Ball where the decorations were beautiful along with a fun
and awesome dance . I attended Grand Lodge where we helped serve the special guests after which we
cleaned up. The guest thanked us for our help through the night.
The Grand Officer practice went well, which provided a variety of information about Grand
Assembly to get us ready for our duties. I loved being with the Grand Family again while being able to
talk and catch up on things happening while we have been apart. The Nashville Area attended church as a
group for Rainbow Sunday as we returned from Homecoming.
We attended Trinity
United Methodist Church in
Jackson, TN, where the Douglas
family from Henry Lee Fox
Assembly now attends. The
church members were very
welcoming to our group
recognizing the value of the
work Rainbow Girls do. I loved
being able to interact with that
group of wonderful people.
Homecoming
was
special and the decoration were
outstanding. We had a great
time during dinner, meeting, skits and at the photo booth. The food was also delicious. I would like to
give a shout out to all the adults who help prepare such a very special evening along with Mrs.
Harrington for letting the Grand Officers stay at her house. I truly appreciate Alison, Rainbow Sisters and
adults for making me feel so special on my birthday. It was a joy spending it with my awesome adopted
family.
Thank you Mom Fortenberry for all you have done by giving me this opportunity to serve
Tennessee Rainbow again. You are an inspiration to all the girls around Tennessee and support us in every
way. I love you!! Thank you Ms. Mickey for the guidance you have given me throughout my Rainbow
life. You would do anything for Rainbow along with supporting us as one of your own. I love you, too!!
Thank you to my Assembly for recommending me by having faith in me to serve Tennessee Rainbow this
year. You all have a special place in my heart and I want to let you know that you all are the best. A very
special thank you to my parents for all they do, because I would not be here and be the person I have
become without their support and love. Thank you for taking me everywhere. I have to go and I love you
both very much!!
Sincerely,
Megan Sadler
Grand Patriotism
As the old cartoon dinosaur title is…”We’re Back”!!!!!! (not Land Before Time)
Winnie the Pooh once said, “How lucky am I to have something that makes saying “Goodbye” so hard!”
On April 11, 2015, I received my Majority Service at the Memphis Homecoming. At the Homecoming I
was honored by being allowed to hold the office of Hope, my favorite office, and during the introduction of
Grand Officers announced to hold the Office of Grand Love! Needless to say….it was an emotional rollercoaster
for not only me, but for my family and friends as well. Thank you Mom Fortenberry for allowing me to step in and
hold this office and become part of another Grand Family. I can’t wait to spend another Grand Assembly with
everyone.
As in Bambi, like Flower I have come out of hibernation and am ready for spring! I have been busy with
both school and church this year, more than usual, and now I am getting ready to be a certified Lifeguard. One of
my all-time favorite oldie Disney characters is Baloo the Bear! He can be serious…sometimes….and is always
ready for some fun. I find myself closely related to him as, though I can be serious, most of the time I am looking
for some way to have some fun and now I am back in the way of having it with all the girls again!
Pocahontas once asked which river course she should follow and she chose the one of adventure in the
end, Mulan left her home and saved an entire country, Merida chose to change her fate and in the end earned a
closer relationship with her mother. Ariel left the water and her fins behind for a pair of legs and her true love,
Anna chose to try to save the sister she barely knew and thawed a frozen heart, and Rapunzel found her new
dream by leaving her tower and followed the least likely of people to find it.
We all, like Pocahontas, have to choose which course in life we are going
to follow, the safe and known one, OR the one where we have no clue what is
going to happen and are putting our faith in God and doing His will. Like Mulan,
we can be someone bigger than ourselves and be the only Bible that some people
will ever read. We can be like Ariel and make a bigger difference than we ever
thought possible, not only to ourselves but to those around us too. Like Anna, we
can help, not only our sisters by blood, but the sisters we have in this order or in
our churches, schools and communities. We have the chance to be the Anna to
some Elsa and thaw a frozen heart. We can be like Rapunzel, take a chance,
follow the least of friends and go after the floating lights. We can find our new
dream as we majority out of Rainbow and head into the next chapter of our lives and show the princess within.
But the one I love the thought of the most is Merida, I know that when I was 14 I joined an order to change my
fate. In so doing, my mom and I have become closer than I ever thought possible and I am so blessed to be with
her and to share so many memories with her in the past 7 years.
As I find myself holding my last Rainbow Grand Office, I think back to all the memories I have made with
so many of the girls and adults, tears come to my eyes. I now have 2 favorite memories, both of which are
ironically my Initiation, when my Mom was my Religion and we both got everyone to start crying and now my
Majority, when Mom Fortenberry went up to the East with her book and everyone grabbed their tissues because
they knew what was coming. I still can’t believe that it has happened or that I was announced as Grand Love.
Thank you so much Mom Fortenberry for putting your faith in me, yet again, and allowing me to serve
Tennessee again. I hope that I can only make you and Dad Joe proud. I can say that Rainbow has taught me so
much and that the Service Hours we keep has made its way into our Sunday School class at our Church! We are
so happy because now the girls are looking forward to each Sunday to show what they have done!
Thank you to all the Rainbow Adults for helping me throughout the past 7 years in Rainbow and 6 in
Tennessee. You all mean so much to me and I couldn’t ask for anyone person to be replaced with anyone better,
because none of you can! All the girls are looking up to you and you are all so amazing at being role models and
supporters.
Thank you to my family for allowing me to be so active in this order and to be the best that I can. You
have always supported me and never told me no that I was not able to do something in Rainbow, just that I had
to fulfill my obligation. You have helped me to become the outgoing young lady that I have become today. I
couldn’t have done it without all of you there backing me up. I love you so much and am so proud to call you my
family! As Doctor Seuss once said, “Don’t cry because it's over, Smile because it happened.”

Hi everyone, and a special hello to my
Grand Page, Nicole Burriesci of Livingston #15!
It is hard to believe that this year is
almost over, it has gone by so fast.
Homecoming was so much fun! Th ank you to all
the Adults that put it together. I’m especially
glad that Mrs. Harrington found her wedding
ring! It was wonderful to see the Girls and their work as they all did wonderfully.
Thank you so much for our gifts; I have mine displayed in my dorm room to remind
me of fun times while studying and writing. After Homecoming, the Nashville area
attended church in Jackson, TN. It was a lovely service, and we had pizza
afterwards. Thank you to the church for opening up y our congregation to us.
Thank you, Mom Fortenberry, for this wonderful opportunity. I have enjoyed
it very much. Thank you, Ms. Mickey, for reminding me of things when I forget and
the support you showed throughout the year. Thank you, Ms. Donna, for pick ing
me up when I didn’t have a ride, and for always being supportive. Last, but not
least, thank you Mom for standing beside me in every decision and always having a
smile.
I look forward to seeing all of you at Grand Assembly!

Saturday evening, April 18, with
good food, good fellowship, and a
great show for entertainment! The
Girls in the Assembly along with

a “Hee Haw Show” for everyone’s
enjoyment. The Girls did a great
job and had fun putting the skits
together. Everyone had a great time!
Claiborne Assembly welcomes 2 new members to
our Assembly – Haley and Destiny!! At our Area
Initiation on April 26, Claiborne Assembly and Old
Hickory Assembly Initiated new members into

with their ritualistic work. We can’t wait to work on
projects together and prepare for Grand Assembly.
Nashville Area News
The Girls and Adults from the Area stopped in Jackson,
TN, on the way home from our trip to Homecoming. We
attended East Trinity United Methodist Church to celebrate
our annual Rainbow Church Service. The Douglas family
from Henry Lee Fox #85 now serves that church, and Mr. Douglas is the pastor there. The
church membership really welcomed us and even provided us with a pizza lunch after the
service. We thank East Trinity UMC for letting us take part that day.
On Sunday, April 26, we had an Area Initiation where we Initiated 3 new members and
enjoyed great refreshments afterwards while we honored our Area Grand Officers for
representing us well during the year. Mom Renee and the Girls received some nice gifts in the
dining hall that was decorated with a Disney theme – even the plates for refreshments were
Minnie Mouse! During the meeting, Ms. Mickey thanked Mckayla King for taking part in the
Area activities and serving at the meetings during the school year. She presented her a small
gift in appreciation.
We are looking forward to a busy Spring leading into Summer. Several of our Girls are
graduating from high school and are excited about the adventures ahead. We will be serving
a Masonic District dinner and meeting on May 8 at the Shrine Center and serving at the Middle
TN Past Matron’s Luncheon for Eastern Star on May 16. We can’t wait to see everyone at
Camp Day and Grand Assembly!
Hello my fellow Princesses & Adults,
I can't believe we're already coming to the end of
another wonderful year in Tennessee Rainbow!
I have had so much fun this year with my Grand Family,
traveling, staying up late sharing stories and making
memories. I hope you all enjoyed the magic carpet ride
into a “Whole New World” as much as I have.
Homecoming was wonderful! To the Mem phis Area, you
really did a great job! The decorations were beautiful
and the Disney movie clips were a really sweet touch. I
really enjoyed making new friends with our guests from
Texas and we even managed to get photobombed by our
GWA! :)
Thank you to Mrs. Harrington for opening her house to
the GO's to sleep over. I had a wonderful time. And
special congratulations to my fellow GO Kacey Farleigh on receiving Grand Cross of Color
and to Mentie Martin....so glad you’re back with us!
We've been really busy in my Assembly, Hendersonville #3. We've been working on the
GWA's projects, sharing some Rainbow love with a local nursing home, and getting ready
for our annual golf tournament. We've also decided on a really fun idea for Camp Day &
hope you all will stop by our table & get crafty with us! I also can't wait to dump some
buckets of water on my fellow GO's! :)
Grand Assembly is right around the corner, and I can't wait to see you all there! I know
it's going to be beautiful. Congratulation to Alison on a truly magical term! Until next
time Princesses...........

Grand Officers in Nashville were honored with a Disney-themed party!
Hello Everyone,
WOW! I cannot believe that I am writing the last article for the year. It's true that time flies when you're having fun.
It seems like it was just yesterday when we were at Grand Assembly introducing the new year. This Disney-filled year is one
that I will never forget. I would like to thank my family and the area girls and adults who have supported me this year. I could
not do it without all of you, nor would I want to! You are very special to me and I am so grateful that I get to be a part of
Upper East Rainbow with you.
This last part of the year is always very busy for me. School is starting to finish up and finals are quickly approaching.
For those of you who don't know I am an Early Admission student at East Tennessee State University. That means that I will
graduate from University High School this May but will start next Fall as a Second-Semester Sophomore!
The Grand Officers met in Nashville in March for our Grand Officers practice and I was SO excited to see everyone.
There is too much time between December and March to be away from the Grand Family. We had a wonderful practice and I
am very proud of how hard everyone has worked. I think Grand Assembly will be perfect! A huge thank you to the adults
who came and helped us and made our lunch!
Next we met in Alison's home of Memphis for Homecoming! It was great to see everyone from across the state and
our out of state visitors from Texas and Missouri. We were so honored to have them with us! I would like to thank the
Memphis Area girls and adults for all of their hard work to make Homecoming so special for us. Also, thank you Mrs.
Harrington for allowing the Grand Officers to stay in your home. Our gifts are absolutely beautiful and a perfect reminder of
the year.
My Assembly is about to get busy with our fundraising and service projects in preparation for Grand Assembly. I am
very excited about all that we have planned. See you all soon!
With Rainbow Love,
Sarah Belcher
Grand Worthy Associate Advisor 2014-15
P.S. I would like to send a huge shoutout to my wonderful Grand Page, Haven! I was so glad I got to see you at Homecoming
and I can't wait to see you at Camp Day.

Hello Sisters & Adults,
I've had the honor this year to be the Grand Representative to Arizona &
Alabama! I've really enjoyed learning about Rainbow in both of these states
and getting to know my counterparts.
In Alabama, not only is Hallie Olive a Grand
Representative to Tennessee & Connecticut,
but she's also the GWA! Her theme this year
is to “Live in the Moment” and her motto is,
“Worry about nothing, pray about Everything.”
Her main service project is the American
Cancer Society. It was a wonderful surprise to
have Hallie join us at the Chattanooga OV.
The Disney spirit is contagious and one of
Hallie's songs is, "Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah" and her
fun emblem is, “The Little Mermaid.” They will
also be having a “Frozen” themed fun night at
their Grand Assembly in Birmingham, June 2428. I wish Hallie the best of luck &
congratulations on a wonderful term!
In Arizona, I've had the pleasure to get to know Madison “Madi” Sherman
from Tucson #2. Madi is Grand Representative to Tennessee, Colorado &
Montana, as well, as being “Sister of Victory” on the Grand Cross of Color
Team and Grand Nature! Madi and I have learned we have more in common
than Rainbow, she also is a freshman and a member of her high school's
Winter Guard. One could say, “It's a Small World After All.”
Arizona's GWA is Haley Ackert, and her theme is, “Keep Calm & Camp On”
which supports their Rainbow camp, Camp Yeibichei (yay -bih-shay ). Haley
chose this theme due to their camp being severely vandalized last year. Her
motto is, “Be a Rainbow in someon e else's cloud” and her mascot is also a
teddy bear!
It's been a lot of fun getting a chance to learn more about Rainbow in these
two states and getting to make friends with two wonderful counterparts!
Thank you to Mom Fortenberry for this appointment an d Ms. Mickey & Ms.
Karen for their support and guidance. I can't wait to see you all at Grand
Assembly! Until then.....follow the second star to the right, and straight on
to morning!
In Rainbow Love,

Knoxville Area Notes….
After beautiful Installations to get 2015 off to a good start, the Knoxville Area has been busy with fund-raisers, serving at OES
and Masonic events and preparing for Camp Day and Grand Assembly! The mystic bus went to Memphis for an outstanding
Homecoming. Thanks to Mrs. Harrington and her crew for a beautiful meeting.
The Grand Officers Tea and Annual
Church Service were held in April at
Farragut Assembly. Many thanks to
Mom Suzanne for hosting! We are very
proud of our Knoxville Area Grand
Officers and enjoyed celebrating with
them!
Mahala Cain, serving as Worthy Advisor at Holston
Assembly, designed and prepared a Princess Party for
guests in April. The event was held in a historical home
in Jefferson City where girls gathered for etiquette
lessons, beautiful dresses, fun and outstanding food!
The evening highlight was a formal dinner served by the
Holston Moms where the girls put all their new tips into
use. Then the formals came off and the pj’s came on
when the girls returned to Holston Assembly for a sleepover with movies and more food. The girls attended
Mahala’s church the next morning.
Finally, our area was honored when our
Worthy Grand Matron, Ms. Kay Southern,
asked us to provide an opening drill at
Grand Chapter in Sevierville! Girls from
all the Knoxville Area Assemblies
performed a beautiful drill, narrated by
Alison, which honored our Eastern Star
Sponsors. It’s always a great opportunity
to be able to give-back to our sponsors,
since they do so much for us!
Grand Representative Highlights!
Dear Rainbow Family,
Well, this has been a magical and splendid adventure so far.
We made it through all of the Official Visits and parties. It won't be
long until we will be meeting at Homecoming. I'm so excited, yet
nervous, as I always am. I can't believe it has been three months since
the last report. It was Christmas and snow was toppling over us all. We missed quite a bit of schoolwhich we will have to make up-but that gave us more time to study our Rituals. We are beginning to
count down the days until Grand Assembly.
Our Assembly has engaged with our community, providing volunteers as needed. We are all
working hard to memorize and obtain the work implanted upon us. We are preparing for Grand
Assembly, and the upcoming term. Our Grand Choir members are working on their vocals. Our Grand
Pages are learning about their appointed Grand Officer. Our Grand Representatives, including me, are
preparing information, sashes, and boards to display. It's exciting and nerve racking, all at the same time,
anticipating what is in store. We are working hard on service hours, too.
I am trying to stay in touch with my counterparts as much as possible. I've learned some pretty
neat things about the girls, Assemblies, and state/country. I am working hard trying to memorize my
Ritual work, and obtain everything I have learned. I am also trying to stay busy with clubs and
extracurricular activities. I helped volunteer at Red Cross during this snowstorm, as our area was a
disaster area. I loved helping people, but it was also heartbreaking. Our church has started a new youth
group called E.P.I.C.(Everything's Possible In Christ) Sonday. We are getting more involved with our
community and doing outreach projects. Most of this inspiration in me kindled through Rainbow. I am so
blessed for everything I have learned in Rainbow. A big thanks to Mom Fortenberry for giving me the
opportunities to interact with a variety of people.
I know we are all busy with proms, finals, and a variety of other things. In all of the commotion
we need to remember to keep up the good work and make room to attend our meetings.

Hello Rainbow,
Alexa Templeton, my counterpart from New Mexico, is currently serving as Grand Worthy
Advisor of her state. In New Mexico every girl has the pleasure of being a Grand Representative, because
it builds both friendships and character of the Rainbow Girl. Alexa attends Central New Mexico
Community College and will be receiving her associate’s degree in Special Education and History this
upcoming summer.
The theme in New Mexico is “Cherish the Moments,” because everyone should enjoy the little
things in life and life is too short to waste it. Every year the Grand Worthy Advisor is allowed to choose
the color and style of the dress, which all Grand Officers wear throughout the year and at Grand
Assembly. This term the colors are royal blue, magenta, ivory, and shell pink.
New Mexico is known for the annual International Balloon Festival they host every October.
People from all over the world may come to compete and show off both their great skills and individual
hot air balloons.
It has been such a fabulous experience to be a Grand Representative to New Mexico this year,
especially considering Alexa is Grand Worthy Advisor and a great role model.

How many formal and semi-formal dresses do each
of us have that we no longer wear and get pushed
farther and farther to the back of our closets?
The Rainbow Girls of Tennessee will have the
“NEAT REPEATS”
dress room at Grand Assembly this year. “NEAT REPEATS” allows Rainbow Girls to purchase
gently used formals to wear at their meetings for a very nominal fee. Proceeds from “NEAT
REPEATS” will go to either the Adda Dinsmore Youth Scholarship or the Tennessee Supreme
Assembly Fund.
We are looking for clean formals that will be ready to sell. PLEASE DONATE DRESSES THAT
ARE ACCORDING TO OUR TENNESSEE RAINBOW DRESS CODE. Please go through
your closets and bring/send dresses to this year’s Grand Assembly.
We will also be accepting KHAKI or NAVY twill (or that type / please no denim) SKIRTS clean
and in good condition. Our girls need these to wear to many Assembly activities. We will also be
accepting gently worn Rainbow t-shirts, jackets, and hoodies; along with gently worn dress shoes, or
hand and evening bags.
Ask your Eastern Star, Amaranth, White Shrine Ladies, and Ladies of your local Shrine Temple,
anyone who wears formals, to donate dresses they no longer wear. The girls will be moving in at
Grand Assembly on June 25 and 26, 2015. Dresses can be turned in to Mrs. Renee’ Bolden or
Mrs. Lela Woodin from Henry Lee Fox #85 on your arrival at Grand Assembly.
Nothing makes a Rainbow Girl smile more than a “new” dress. It does wonders for her selfesteem. Look what it did for Cinderella……..

It’s already April! I guess what they say is true then: time flies when you are having fun. I would like to
start by saying hello to everyone and by giving a huge thank you to my wonderful Grand Page, Kayla Perry, who I
cannot wait to see at Homecoming and Grand Assembly.
My Assembly has been very busy these past few months; our Installation was in January and Rebekah
Chadwick went in as our Worthy Advisor. Grand Officer’s practice was a blast! It was great to see some of my
Rainbow Sisters again, but all good things must come to an end.
Mom Fortenberry, thank you for giving me this wonderful opportunity; without you none of this would
be possible. I would like to thank all of the adults involved in Rainbow as well, whether you are parents or Grand
Deputies. People always say that we would not have Rainbow without girls, but the same can be said of the
adults. You are Tennessee Rainbow and without you, we would not have the guiding hands crucial to keep
Rainbow alive. I cannot wait to see everyone at Grand Assembly! I know it is going to be awesome.

Hello Cast Members!!!
I have had a wonderful time being Grand Faith this year and I couldn't have
asked for a better group of Rainbow Girls to spend it with. I want to send a special
thank you and hello to my Grand Page, Megan W., one of the nicest girls I know!
I had a wonderful time at all of the Official Visits and each and every girl
did a wonderful job on their Ritual work. I love every gift I received and will
cherish them forever! Homecoming was beautiful and I felt proud of my Memphis
area girls and the girls that stepped up to the job and filled in Offices. Again, I want
to thank everyone for making this Grand Year wonderful and beautiful!!

Fountain City #56 Rainbow would like to welcome our two newest members,
Mackenzie Standifer and Mary Kayla Harb, who were Initiated on March
28th at the Knoxville Area Initiation held at Fountain City Lodge. It was
truly an area event. We had representatives from all four of our Assemblies
and even had help from Nashville with two girls that traveled up for the
event. Thanks to Megan Sadler and Kasey Farleigh for helping out with our
Initiation! Afterwards fun and fellowship was had by all with a Pizza
dinner. All of the girls did an excellent job and had a beautiful Initiation.
Hello Everyone,
I hope you all have had a great year. I have enjoyed this term and the many things my Assembly and area
has done. We had an Instillation in January where I am serving another term as Worthy Advisor and Sarah Sharp
became our new Worthy Associate Advisor. Our area did a lot of serving for our Eastern Star and our Masons, and
every minute of it was enjoyable. We had the privilege to Initiate two new Rainbow Sisters in March, Marykala
and McKenzie.
For Homecoming the Knoxville Area rode a bus down and we shared many laughs together on the way.
Homecoming was very fun and the food and fellowship was wonderful. Staying at Mrs. Harrington’s house was
awesome, too especially since we got unlimited food.
I know everyone’s schedules have been very busy but I hope each of you have had a great year and I can't
wait to see each of you at Grand Assembly.
Hello to my Grand Page, Abby Fleming, and I look forward to seeing you at Grand Assembly.

Hendersonville #3's Installation of
Officers was held on January 24th with
Kayla Lowe being Installed as Worthy
Advisor. Her theme is "Let Rainbow Be
Your Song," and her colors are light blue,
hot pink and silver. It was a beautiful
Installation!
We started out the term with a
Valentines party where we made
Valentines for the nursing home. We
also exchanged Valentines with each
other and had some awesome
refreshments.
In May, we are looking forward to
our annual Golf Tournament at Long
Hollow Golf Course. Part of the profits
will be donated to the Shrine
Hospital. Right now, we are in the
process of getting teams and prizes!
Homecoming was a lot of fun! It was so good to see everyone again. If you didn't go, you
really missed a fun weekend.
We are anxious for Grand Assembly in June. We hope to see a huge crowd in Nashville!
Hey Everyone,
I've missed seeing all of you. I want to
thank everyone for the get well wishes. I'm
slowly feeling better and appreciate your
well wishes.
I hope Homecoming was a blast for
everyone. I know that much work went
into preparing for the Grand Family. Thank
you so much for the nice gift.
Our Area is having an Initiation and
reception honoring our Grand Officers on
Sunday, April 26. My Assembly, Old Hickory
#27, will be Initiating a new member! We
are so excited and can’t wait to welcome
her.
I hope to see everyone at Camp Day
and at Grand Assembly. It will be a great
time for all of us to get together and make
some more Rainbow memories.
