Tasting Room Hints
• Use a designated driver
and drink responsibly.
• Drink plenty of water
throughout the day. Our
high desert climate is
very dry.
• Most wineries’ tastings
are complimentary.
• Ask questions. Don’t be
intimidated. Wine tasting
is entirely subjective. Let
your taste decide what
wines you like and dislike.
• Wine tasting is a sensory
experience, so let your
senses explore the wine.
Swirl the wine
in your glass to release
more of the character
and bouquet. Savor the aroma, the color and the layers of
flavor. (How does the wine feel in your mouth?)
• Tell your server what you like and don’t like. Be honest
if you don’t like something, so your server can help you
select a wine you will enjoy. Try to imagine how a wine
will taste when paired with different foods.
Wine Country Tours
The companies below offer a variety of exclusive tours
orchestrated perfectly from pick-up to drop-off. The

from the local experts. Contact the transportation
companies to reserve your tour. Prices vary. Call for details.

• You are not required to consume all the different wines
that you taste. It is standard wine tasting procedure to
spit out samplings.
• Most wineries provide walk-in tastings during their
designated hours of operation. Call them
for details, more information, or any special
arrangements.

The Grand Valley area is filled with scenic wonder and agricultural
discoveries along the way. You can tour Colorado’s Wine Country
by car or bicycle, or simply end your day of outdoor activity with a
friendly visit with a local vintner.
Each winery has its own personality and charm. Some offer areas
for your own picnic and facilities for events, weddings, parties and
musical performances. Your hosts are hospitable and experienced –
tap in to their knowledge about wine making in Colorado.
All of the Grand Valley wineries are just minutes from downtown
Grand Junction. Refer to the wine tour map and see that there
are concentrations of wineries in the Palisade region. You can visit
a string of wineries by starting in Palisade (I-70, exit 42) or in The
Redlands (I-70, exit 28). The rolling farmland offers you wide-open
views of the Book Cliffs, Mt. Garfield, the Grand Mesa and the
Colorado National Monument.
While you are traveling through Palisade, look for the
Palisade Fruit and Wine Byway road signs to help guide
your adventure.
Of course, we recommend a designated driver for a day of
comparing the wines of the region.
