Just right for the best printing plates in the world
Are you still using a conventional process? Perfect! Because that means you
are ideally equipped for a cost-effective
and above all problem-free move into
the world of Computer-To-conventional-Plate.
The UV-Setters from basysPrint, namely,
expose your trusted and proven conventional printing plates. And that is more
than just innovative, because there is no
better printing plate you could use.
After all, you rightly expect the best:
a durable, inexpensive and perfectly
exposed plate – properties which are
regularly confirmed by independent
institutes. Your individually preferred
plate, too, can be exposed with the
UV-Setters from basysPrint, thanks to
their use of the UV technology. Combine
your know-how regarding plate properties, chemistry and process stability with
that of basysPrint when it comes to
exposure.
The UV-Setters of Series 7 have been
designed for the 3b format and can be
used equally in the commercial,
packaging and book-printing sectors.
They expose all plate formats up to a
maximum 940 x 1150 mm (37" x 45").
The outstandingly simple handling of the
platesetters, along with their top-class
processing quality, is praised and appreciated by users all over the world.

Research, development, manufacture: All under one roof
Many years of research experience, comprehensive technology investments and
several hundred equipment installations
have earned basysPrint an unbeatable
know-how lead in the digital processing
of conventional printing plates. All
production phases for our UV-Setters™
are united under one roof, from design
conception to final acceptance. And
what is more, the UV-Setters undergo
continuous, practice-oriented further
development in cooperation with
leading print companies.
You can always look forward to equipment tuned to your individual needs
from basysPrint, as it is one of our most
important company principles to place
the satisfaction of our customers at the
focus of all efforts.

Flexibility of
a flatbed system
The UV-Setters operate in the wavelength range 360 - 450 nm. You can
thus choose from practically the whole
range of conventional offset printing
plates. A further advantage: Conventional printing plates are in most cases
immediately available.
Thanks to its use of UV light, the UVSetter is able to expose a variety of halftone proofing materials. As the printing
plate and the halftone proof are produced from the same file, furthermore,
production reliability is enhanced in the
downstream digital workflow.
CTP is acclaimed for the fact that it eliminates numerous work stages – film
exposure, make-up and platemaking –
and thus the associated costs. With a
laser-based process, however, the
general financial benefits are quickly lost
to the higher material costs (printing
plate, chemicals and disposal).
All UV materials (printing plates and
proof materials) can be processed under
daylight conditions. This eliminates the
need for dedicated processing facilities,
such as a darkroom or specially darkened
working areas with yellow illumination,
as required by violet CTP systems, for
example.
The flatbed system of the UV-Setter
Series 7 permits exposure of a wide
variety of plate sizes, from small format
up a maximum 940 x 1150 mm (37" x 45").
When using smaller formats, e.g. DIN A3,
it is naturally also possible to process
several plates simultaneously.
Negative-process plates are imaged
especially quickly by the UV-Setters, as
only the printing elements of the plate
surface need to be exposed.
50 printing plates from 15 manufacturers have already been tested
on the UV-Setters, and this list is
growing constantly. We would be
pleased to provide information
as to whether your preferred
plate type has been tested
successfully, and if so,
which exposure
times were
achieved.
With CTcP™, this problem is overcome:
You continue to use your inexpensive
conventional plates and your existing
processor. Disposal costs will thus also
remain low in the future. And as a backup, you can even keep your existing
imagesetter and plate frame. After all,
they process absolutely identical plates.
The general operating costs for the UVSetter, moreover, are exceptionally favorable.
Unrivalled cost efficiency: basysPrint UV-Setter Series 7
A further advantage of the flatbed is the
facility to replace the mounting strips, so
as to be able to use different register systems. Upon request, the flatbed can also
be fitted with register pins or 3-pin plate
alignment.

The Navigator RIP system,
developed by basysPrint
on the basis of Harlequin
Scriptworks, is known as
one of the fastest RIPs on
the market. It runs on both Windows
and Macintosh platforms. Thanks to
the integrated super-cell technology,
the desired gray levels (max. 4096) are
achieved even at low resolutions in
conjunction with high screen rulings.
The RIP supports, among others, PostScript levels 1-3, JPEG, DCS-2, EPS,
TIFF-6, PDF and optionally TIFF/IT-P.
The two software modules
Proof
AutoProof and AutoCIP
round off the workflow
configuration. AutoProof enables form
proof output without a separate RIP
process for the proofer. AutoCIP is used
to generate CIP3 data in PPF format. The
standardized PPF files can then be sent
to the control system of the printing
press, where they serve for internal
presetting of the ink metering functions.

In cooperation with Glunz
& Jensen, basysPrint supplies processors for all
plate formats. One of the key advantages
of these plate processors is their precise
transport system. The enclosed immersion bath reduces the consumption of
processing chemicals and prevents oxidation of the developer fluids. The Interplater is complemented by an automatic
cleaning system.
Every UV-Setter can be integrated
flexibly into existing prepress set-ups.
