The Feast of Tabernacles – 2013 – Glenwood Springs, Colorado
The Feast of Tabernacles – 2013 – Glenwood Springs, Colorado
Hosted by the Grand Junction Christian Church of God
In the Fall of 2013, the Grand Junction Church hosted the Feast of Tabernacles for the 14th time. This year at the historic
and famous Hotel Colorado in Glenwood Springs. Weather was mild and cooperated during the eight days, allowing
abundant fun and fellowship. This view looks into the courtyard of the Hotel Colorado, with Iron Mountain visible above
and behind the hotel. The mountain and its Adventure Park will be featured in later photographs.
It is being planned that we will meet at this site in Glenwood Springs once again in 2014.

Among the many amenities in Glenwood Springs is the Hot Springs Pool, open all year in all weather. The Hotel Colorado
and the pool’s Hot Springs Lodge is just to the left of this view. Just east of the Pool is the naturally heated Vapor Caves.
The Colorado River and the town of Glenwood Springs, with numerous additional restaurants and shopping, is just a
short walk across a connecting pedestrian footbridge. Downtown is out of sight to the right of this view, taken from the
footbridge.
An informal afternoon “Pizza Party” held in the open
courtyard of the Hotel Colorado where many stayed.
Our Formal Dance and Banquet.
Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park - Family Day:
On Friday, the Church hosted a subsidized Family Fun
Day on top of Iron Mountain, just north of Glenwood
Springs. In keeping with our usual practice, each year’s
attendees “pay forward” the funding for our many next
year activities. For the price of less than the cost of
lunch, each 2013 participant was treated to a Tram ride
to the top, a Catered Luncheon, and an afternoon of
unlimited amusement rides and guided-tours of the
Caverns deep within the mountain.
Held in the Grand ballroom of the Hotel Colorado.
An 8-minute, 4300 foot Tram ride brought guests to
the mountain-top and amusement park. The Colorado
River is seen far below. Rides in the park include an
Alpine Coaster, Zip Line, a Large Cliff-Edge Swing and a
Roller Coaster (also poised at the edge of a cliff),
underground Caverns, a Maze, children’s rides, indoor
Laser Tag, and Climbing Wall, to name a few.
Waiting in line up top for the Fajita Bar & Luncheon.
The Giant Canyon Swing – not for the weak of heart!
Enjoying the Luncheon in the open air patio overlooking the town and valley some 2000 feet below.
The Giant Swing takes riders way out over the edge of
a cliff. Glenwood Springs and the Roaring Fork valley
to the south are seen in the distance.
Beginning a fast ride down the Alpine Coaster.
The Cliffhanger Roller Coaster is well named.
Services Each Day - 2013:
Opening Services began the evening of September 18.
Each day we had a different speaker from various parts of
the country. One day was unplanned and “open” for
families to do those activities that just an afternoon might
not be sufficient to do, and / or to allow attendees and
those serving to just relax. Attendees included many
affiliations and came from all parts of the country, the
Midwest, Northwest, California, Arizona, Oklahoma,
Wisconsin and Michigan, and, of course, Colorado.

Other Activities:
Not represented in the photographs was the annual
Seniors’ Luncheon, provided without charge to all the
attending seniors. Privately organized activities were also
offered, including a Hanging Lake hike and a group Segway
tour of the area. On Friday night, there was a Bible Study.

Optional Activities:
Just to the west of town, there is a miles-long hiking /
biking trail thru Glenwood Canyon. A number of vendors
offer River Rafting. Bicycles are rented in a number of
locations. Hanging Lake Trail is a popular part-day hike,
and there are many spectacular scenic drives within
minutes of Glenwood Springs that only Colorado offers.
-------------------------------------An Unsolicited Testimonial:
“… The main theme of this year's Feast was that of God's great
master project of restoring all things, to be accomplished with the
assistance of the firstfruits who are now being trained to be kings,
priests, teachers, preachers and healers. Most of the messages
during the Feast focused on these main points and our responsibility
to prepare now.
The 2013 Feast of Tabernacles was our best ever in 40+ years of
Feast observance. The love and warmth of the 85-90 brethren in
Glenwood Springs was overwhelming to say the least. The
messages were definitely composed of strong meat, concerning our
decaying society and our role in preparing now for our future
responsibilities in God's kingdom. The get-togethers were wonderful
and the activities were wholesome and enjoyable.
… Other functions included a formal dinner / dance, a senior
luncheon, sightseeing, a trip to Grand Junction for a Minnesota
family interested in possible relocation and multiple opportunities to
share meals at some of Glenwood Springs' many fine restaurants.
It was so good to renew old acquaintances and make new ones.
We had two get-togethers in our condo where 14 people came, all
of whom were seasoned, mature Christians. We enjoyed wine and
snacks and then talked mostly about spiritual issues and church
history for about 2 hours. It was so uplifting and unlike anything we
had ever experienced during our entire church life!”
