MAY MOVIES
Trumbo, Friday, May 6th, 7:00 PM: CWPA
An especially relevant film given the current
political climate. It is based on actual events
in the life of the extraordinarily gifted and
prolific
1940s/1950s
Hollywood
screenwriter Dalton Trumbo, who refused to
testify before the congressional House UnAmerican Activities Committee in defense of
the first amendment of the Constitution –
Freedom of Speech – and Thought. He was
jailed, blacklisted as a communist, destroyed
financially, and black balled by Hollywood. A
man who needed to support his family (a wife
and 3 girls), he continued to secretly write
and sell movie scripts, that became Oscarwinning classics (Roman Holiday, Spartacus,
etc.). Rated R for profuse strong language
which may be offensive to some people. An
all-star cast: Bryan Cranston, who won the
2015 Oscar for Best Actor; Diane Lane,
Helen Mirren (as Hedda Hopper, the
conniving, vicious gossip columnist), John
Goodman, and more.
No Escape, Friday May 20th, 7:00 PM:
A/C. When American Jack Dwyer (Owen
Wilson) and his family relocate to Southeast
Asia they quickly learn that their timing
couldn't have been worse. Soon after
arriving, they find themselves trapped in a
violent coup that could wind up costing them
their lives. Action adventure thriller, rated
R, 114 min.
The Book Thief, Friday, May 27th, 7:00
PM: CWPA.An absorbing story of a young
girl growing up in Nazi Germany who steals
books to teach herself to read. Bonding with
a young boy allows her to experience the
joys of youth amidst the horrors of war.
Bonding with her foster father and a Jewish
man they hide in their basement, allows her
to grow up with resilience. Starring

“Cold Mountain” a Civil War novel by Charles
Frazier and a 2016 Philadelphia Reads
selection is now in the Garrett Library.
Another recently purchased book is Bill
OReilly’s, “Killing Reagan”. Also, John
Grisham’s book, “The Innocent Man” is a true
story and shelved in the non-fiction area of
the library (345.02).
You will notice on the big table in the library
three 3-ring binders. One is a handbook
which tells you how the library is operated,
and the other 2 binders contain a
comprehensive list of all the books in the
library. We hope this will be a helpful tool
for our library users.

Get your
zzzzzz’s!
Getting enough sleep
helps you stay healthy
and alert. Many older
people don’t sleep well,
but getting older doesn’t
mean you have to feel
tired all the time.
There are many things
you can do to help you
sleep better:
•
•
•
•
•
Follow a regular sleep
schedule.
Go to sleep and get
up at the same time
each day, even on
weekends.
Develop a bedtime
routine.
Take time to relax
before bedtime each
night.
Exercise at regular
times each day but
not within 3 hours of
your bedtime.
