PAGUERA
The pearl of Majorca
Welcome
WELCOME TO
PAGUERA
“Hola” and “Bienvenido” to the world’s most beautiful island, as the Majorcans self-confidently describe
their home.
Many first-time visitors are surprised by how much
diversity Majorca has to offer. Sun yourself in picturesque bays with fine sandy beaches, succumb
to the special charm of the island’s capital during a
shopping trip in Palma or go on a hike to discover
the beauty and secrets of the Tramuntana mountain
range, a UNESCO World Heritage site, with its
romantic hillside villages. And all this with the best
weather guaranteed, since Majorca boasts an impressive 300 days of sun every year.
See out your day indulgently at the Hapimag resort:
over light Mediterranean cuisine at the “Tentación”
restaurant, regional tapas at the “Sotavento” beach
restaurant or a fruity cocktail at “Bar Luna 81”.
We look forward to welcoming you to Paguera and
hope you have an unforgettable stay.

PAGUERA – THE
PEARL OF MAJORCA
Surrounded by pines, Hapimag Resort
Paguera is located on a bay with a white
sandy beach.
The Mediterranean island of Majorca is located just

vic-inity of Barcelona. It is the largest of the Balearic
Islands.
Majorca is a pearl in the truest sense of the word:
genuine, but also the deceptively real, artificial
Majorca pearls have a long tradition here. Manacor
is a town known for pearls in the eastern part of the
island.
The little town of Paguera is located in the southwest, approximately 24 km away from the island’s
capital, Palma. The town is surrounded by mountain
ranges and sandy coastal stretches and is a popular
destination in the summer.

History
HISTORY
AND CULTURE
Iberian immigrants from Africa were the
first to set foot on the island of Majorca
in 3500 BC.
The island has quite a lively history. Once occupied
La Seu
by the Romans, there was an emergence of cities:
The cathedral of Palma
de Mallorca has a long
history behind it. Building commenced in
1306, the main portal
was consecrated in
1601 and works on the
main façade were not
completed until the
20th century.
Palma, Inca and Pollentia, known today as Alcudia.
The Vandals subsequently destroyed nearly all
Roman structures and Byzantine troops placed the
island under the rule of the Byzantine Empire. In
902 AD the Arabs arrived from Morocco and thus
began Moorish rule lasting more than 300 years.
It was not until the reign of King James I the Conqueror that the Christians won back the Balearic Islands in 1229. Not far from Paguera, in Santa Ponsa,
a cross was set up at the place where the Monarch
first set foot on the island. James I founded the
Kingdom of Majorca and began building the cathedral a short time later.
Under the Catholic kings Majorca was an autonomous part of the crown of Aragon and later of Spain.
Majorca was discovered as a holiday destination at
the beginning of the 20th century.

UNKNOWN
SIDE

Voyager tour, one day is dedicated to a
minibus journey to the unknown sides of
the island.
In air-conditioned minibuses, off the main roads and
leaving mass tourism behind, you will travel down
small side-roads to the heart of the island. On this excursion you will experience the island from another
perspective, with all its beauty, culture and people.
Venture into the heart of the island, into unspoilt Majorca, and discover places where the word tourism
is still a foreign concept. English-speaking guides will
show you the diversity of the landscape, fabulous
views, and insights into Majorcan customs and traditions.
See the notice on the advertising column for times
and prices. Please register at Reception.

your heart’s content.
At 13:30 the bus will drive you straight back to

GET ON BOARD!
Moving across the sea by stand-up
paddle is fun and so easy to learn.
Why not try it out!
Stand-up paddling is becoming increasing popular.
The stand-up paddle was originally a means of transport used by Polynesian fishermen. It was later developed by surf instructors in Hawaii and conquered
the waters of Europe from there.
When stand-up paddling you stand upright on the
surfboard and paddle forwards. During the leisurely
trip, whether it’s by yourself, with the family or as
a group, you’ll enjoy the sea breeze and views of the
coast and can look forward to the fitness effect for
your legs, stomach and back.
Ask at reception for the latest offers and courses
near the resort.

YOUR CHILDREN
AND SEMA – THE
PERFECT TEAM
Our mascot Sema has a varied
programme in store for your children in
the “Gruta de Piratas”.
Our graceful mermaid lives underwater, in the bay
of Paguera just off the Hapimag resort. Because she
loves children and enjoys teaching them about the
exciting underwater world, she comes ashore again
and again and visits our little guests in the “Gruta
de Piratas”. Her little secret: on special occasions
Sema transforms tears into pearls … Sema is looking
forward to seeing your children, so visit her today.
Pirate Day
It’s fun being a pirate for
a while! And perhaps the
whole gang of pirates
will even find the pirate’s
treasure on the beach …
