Dear Parish Family -
For a second straight year, the Holy Father has invited dioceses, parishes and communities to join with him in participating in 24 Hours For The Lord an initiative to allow expanded opportunities for Confession and Eucharistic
Adoration during Lent. The theme will be “God Rich In Mercy (Ephesians 2:4).
Therefore St. Aloysius Church will be open from 8:00 a.m. until 10:30 p.m. on Friday, March 13 to provide
Eucharistic Adoration. Confessions will also be offered from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m. that evening (in addition to Soup
and Stations starting at 6:00 p.m.) The evening will end at 10:00 with Benediction.
We are asking people to come and sit for a quiet hour in the presence of the Lord. You are welcome to come at
any time but we would like someone present at all times. You can see what times are available by visiting our
online sign-up sheet - http://www.timetosignup.com/saintaloysiusparish/view/35239. If you are unable to access
this sheet you can also call the Parish Office to see available times.

and all who support them in their faith. Let this Lent and Easter be a time of spiritual growth and awareness of
Your presence. We ask this in the name of Jesus, our Lord. Amen.

Faith Formation
Calling all RCIA Old Timers! If you have gone through the RCIA process or Adult Confirmation Classes at
St. Al's or any other Catholic parish, we would like to invite you to a monthly gathering of "Keeping Current" which meets every 3rd Sunday of the month at 9:30 a.m. in the Parish Office. We'll share our faith,
talk about our experiences since initiation, and engage in continued education in the faith. Our next session will be
Sunday, March 15. There is no need to RSVP, but if you'd like to, or like more info, please contact Jen.
Little Children of God - Children from ages three to seven are welcome to participate in a Children’s Liturgy of the
Word at the 10:30 a.m. Sunday Mass throughout the school year. The children are dismissed to the Old Church before the first reading, and then experience God’s Word through song, games and crafts during the Liturgy of the
Word at Mass. The children return to Mass after the Prayer of the Faithful.
Faith Sharing Group - The Merton Faith Sharing group meets each Thursday at 10:00 a.m. in the Parish
Office. All are welcome. If you would you like to be a member of this faith sharing group please call
Sister Eileen at the Parish Office on ext. 206.
God is Calling You!!!!! God calls each of us into a deeper relationship each day. If you are not Catholic, or if you
are a Catholic who has not received all of your Sacraments, come check out the RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of
Adults). See if full participation in the Church is what God is calling you to. Most Tuesday nights, from 7:00 - 8:00
p.m. in the Parish Office, we have informal sessions where you can come, ask questions and find out if this is right
for you. There is no commitment when you come to Inquiry, but if you want to pursue initiation, we’ll tell you
what steps need to be taken. Join us for Inquiry, check the parish website or call Jen for information. Our next
meeting date will be Tuesday, March 10 at 7:00 p.m.
Attention Catholics Who Are Not Confirmed… If you are an adult and have not yet received the Sacrament
of Confirmation, this is the class for you. We meet most Tuesdays at 8:00 p.m. (and once a month on the
first Tuesday, at 7:00 p.m.). Our next meeting date is Tuesday, March 10 at 8:00 p.m. The class is conversational, adult learning with a little bit of required reading. You will learn A LOT about the Bible, your
faith and yourself. For more information please contact Jen in the Parish Office at 732-370-0500 ext. 205.
Breaking Open the Word...At Church! For years, now, Sr. Eileen and Jen have been offering reflection
questions on the Sunday readings for families to share at home. After the 10:30 a.m. Mass, Jen offers an
opportunity to Break Open the Word at Church. Anyone who would like to is welcome to join Jen in the
Cafeteria for a quick exegesis (explanation of the readings) and some questions for faith sharing. The
whole thing lasts approximately 30 minutes. We will provide questions for all age groups. You can sit with your
family, grab a group of friends, or meet new people to share with. For more information, contact Jen at the Parish
Office. No need to register for this--it will be pretty informal. Just come on by, and if you want to, bring a Bible!
Protecting God's Children - Making the Church a safe environment for all, particularly children and at-risk
adults, is a major priority of the administration and staff of Saint Aloysius Church. Please take a look at the
posters and "Safe Environment & Standards of Conduct Policy" that are posted on the bulletin board in
the Gathering Space of the Church. You may also see what we have in place by clicking the banner on our
parish website, or typing in: www.saintaloysiusonline.org/protecting-children. If you have any questions or
would like to learn more about how to make our church, homes and community safer, please contact Jen at 732370-0500, ext. 205 or email [email protected].
Bible Study - Meets most 2nd and 4th Tuesdays (10:30 a.m.-noon) and Wednesdays (7:00-8:30 p.m.) of
the month in the Parish Office. Our next meeting dates are March 10 and 11. The morning group is
studying Letter to the Hebrews and the evening group is studying Acts of the Apostles. Come for an informal exploration of God’s Word. Call Jen in the Parish Office, or just come on by!

Breaking Open the Word at Home by Sister Eileen Ivory, O.P.
Today’s Gospel gives us a very rare glimpse of Jesus being angry. He perceives that the
many activities taking place in the temple have very little, if anything, to do with worship
of God his Father. In this scenario Jesus teaches us an important lesson; sometimes anger
is justified; sometimes anger is demanded.
Incidents that infringe upon the rights of others can require that we be angry enough to respond in such a way as
to address the wrong.
Kids: When was the last time you stood up for another kid? Why did you do that? Did you feel your anger was
correct? Talk to Jesus about the decision you made.
Teens and Adults: As you look around at the world, what makes you angry? Do you think you are right to be angry? Is it enough to be angry? What can you do? How does this tie in with Lent?
Healthcare Ministry – Watch Out for Hypothermia
Older adults can lose body heat fast …faster than when they were young. A big chill can turn
into a dangerous problem. Doctors call this serious problem hypothermia. Being outside in
the cold, or even being in a very cold house, can lead to hypothermia. A high wind can quickly
lower your body temperature. Try to stay inside or in a warm place.
Checklist for Keeping warm Outside:
Dress for the weather if you must go out.
Wear loose layers of clothing.
Put on a hat, scarf, gloves and warm socks.
Wear a waterproof coat or jacket if it’s snowy.
Early signs of Hypothermia
Cold feet and hands
Shivering
Puffy or swollen face
Pale Skin
Acting sleepy
Being angry or confused
Slower than normal speech or slurring words
Call 911 right away if you think someone has warning signs
The contemporary band will be taking a break throughout the Lenten season. Other traditional
music will be provided at Mass and we will return for the 12:30 p.m. Mass on Easter Sunday.
New musicians and singers are encouraged to audition. Please contact Gina at
[email protected] to set up an audition.
