2013 KAKM Art Showcase Auction
Catalogue Notes
Items are presented for the most part in the order they will be sold
during the LIVE televised auction, Thursday through Saturday
February 21, 22 and 23.
In the measurements given, a height is stated first, then width,
then depth if applicable. In the case of framed or matted works
of art and photographs, measurements refer to the overall
size of the framed or matted piece.
“Value” represents the donor’s estimated value of the item
or the value recommended by the judges or research. This
is not a “minimum” or “price” and is furnished as a guide to
prospective bidders.
It is recommended that all items be viewed personally and
inspected thoroughly during the pre-air exhibition or preview
as imperfections may not be noted in the catalogue.
PreBid Procedures at the Art Preview
From 5-8pm, on Friday, February 15 and Saturday, February 16,
12-3pm, an Art Preview Open House will be held at the Elmo
Sackett Broadcast Center, 3877 University Drive, Anchorage.
Prebids will be taken at this time on the artwork that will be
featured in the Live auction. All those who wish to prebid on the
Art Showcase pieces will be required to register with the front
desk. Bid sheets for each item will be located on tables in front of
the items. Each item will be numbered and that number will be on
the bid sheet corresponding to that item or art piece.
Bidders will place their name and phone numbers by the amount
they wish to bid. Prebidding obligates the bidder to purchase
the item only if the prebid remains the highest bid after the LIVE
televised auction occurs. Each item will be taken to bid completion
during the Live Art Showcase Auction. If the prebid remains the
highest bid, then the bidder making that prebid will be contacted
as the successful bidder. During the Open House, there will also
be art that can be purchased and taken with the buyer that day.
This art will be located in the BUY NOW area upstairs.
On-Air Bid Procedure
Bidding is done over the phone by those viewing the auction
and in the studio by the live bidding audience. Each item being
offered will be described, including the item number and title. If
you are outside the studio and see an item on which you wish
to bid, immediately picked up the phone and dial 550-8484 or
(800)478-5256 and begin your bidding. The operator must take
your name and phone number before you are allowed to bid.
The operator will tell you the highest current bid. There are
9 other phone bidders and in-studio bidders that you are
potentially bidding against. In the event of two identical bids,
the Auctioneer reserves the right to determine which bid he
considers first. If you are the highest bidder, a confirmation
operator will call you within one hour of the item’s sale to give
you instructions for picking up and paying for your item.
