Brothers & Sisters,
My name is Joe Jazdzewski, on June 30, 2012, I became District Council No. 7’s newly elected
Business Manager/Secretary-Treasurer. I’ve been an active member in good standing with the IUPAT
for over 27 years and have served on both Local and District Council levels during this time. Serving
as chairman of the 802 Health Fund, Secretary of Glaziers & Glassworkers 941 Apprenticeship
Fund, and Labor Trustee on the state Glazing Committee. Now as BM/ST, I have a seat on all funds
and between all labor and management trustees we work hard to maintain all levels of benefits and
costs related to the services provided very seriously.
During my tenure as an elected representative of DC7, I was stationed out of the Sun Prairie office
and worked hard at building relationships with ALL members and signatory contractors of Local 802
and 941. The reason I’m making this statement, is because it didn't matter to me what trade you’re
in or who you worked for, but having both members and contractors receiving the representation
that they deserved and its’ my promise as BM/ST, that I’ll bring that same level of respect and
representation to my new office in Big Bend. I look forward to working on building relationships with
the members and contractors of Locals 108,934,781,579,770 and 1204.

A few things that I'm working on at this time include, preparing the Health Fund merger between
Local 108 and 934 into Local 781’s health fund. Getting prepared for the upcoming contract negotiations for Local 802 and 1204, along with a few stand alone contracts and continued talks with
Local 802’s Apprenticeship funds about merging into the DC7 Apprenticeship fund. District Council
is also implementing a new plan for organizing. We’d like to build our membership base and contractor base., with the plan, we are looking to possibly expand our staff base and hire new organizers. If you think that this is something that might interest you, please look further in the newsletter
for information pertaining to this.
One last comment: It’s been over a year since the last mailing of a District Council newsletter. The
reason for this was due to the cost of printing and mailing. The E-Board has made the recommendation that we start informing members to take advantage of the DC7 website. We need to start to
utilize our resources to their full potential. If you would like a newsletter sent to you personally, we
need you to send us your email address so we are able to forward this to you.
Sincerely and Fraternally,
Joe Jazdzewski

D I S T R I C T C O U N C I L NO . 7
Much has happened in Wisconsin
since the last newsletter, and I
want to start out by thanking all
of the volunteers who have contributed their time during those
months to help out your union.
Your efforts are much appreciated and have not been forgotten.
Here is a quick review of events
from the past few months.
Jeff Mehrhoff
Government Affairs
Director
There was a Presidential election, in which Barack Obama
was elected to a second term
with a large majority of electoral College votes and a solid
win of the popular vote. Democrats retained control of the
United States Senate and picked
up seats in the United States
house of Representatives,
though Republicans retain control of the House. Wisconsin
elected Tammy Baldwin to be
the next WI. U.S. Senator to
replace retiring Senator Herb
Kohl.
The last eighteen months it
seems all I was doing is participating in elections, there was a
recall election or a statewide
election for something it seemed
almost every other month, the
most well known was Wisconsin
unsuccessful attempt to recall
governor Scott Walker. All of
those elections kept the Government Affairs Department and
DC7 staff very busy.
ber to ever be elected to Congress. Mark represents Wisconsin's second congressional
district which included Madison and areas north, parts of
western Wisconsin and parts
of southern Wisconsin.
Perhaps the most exciting thing
to happen though was the elections of IUPAT DC7 member/
contractor Mark Pocan, (from
Madison) to Congress. Mark
becomes the first IUPAT mem-
So, What’s next for the District Council 7 Government Affairs Department:
We have a number of objectives and priorities we are focusing on.
•We have already started an aggressive outreach program to WI Legislators both Republicans and Democrats to educate them
about our organization, IUPAT DC7. While we have many friends at the State Capitol, that only happens if we are there visiting
them at their offices and talking to them about issues that matter most to our members. The issues that we are talking about this
Legislative session; are the importance of prevailing wage and why efforts to weaken it are wrong, the attempt to weaken local
government, for example Milwaukee county, similar to what was done in Michigan two years ago and the ongoing threat of “right
to work” for less Legislation.
•Another priority we are working to make happen is to host an open house for Legislators to showcase our training facility and
programs in order to give lawmakers a better understanding of the importance of unionized Building Trades in the construction
industry.
•We are continuing our internal program of emphasizing to our membership the importance of voter registration and actually
voting. These efforts will continue throughout the next year with the goal of achieving 100% of our members registered to vote.
•One final item I would like to stress that most members do not know about the Government Affairs Department. It is our ability to directly help members when they have an issue that might come up with unemployment, or unpaid wages. Give us a call: I
have been able to speed up help with unemployment issues for members with a simple phone call.
Membership participations, in the political and legislative process is crucial. Elected officials want to hear from you and it does
make a difference. If you have a question about a particular issue, want to talk about why we support certain candidates, or just
want to talk politics, give me a call or shoot me an e-mail, I would love to talk to you about whatever you want: we do not hear
from members enough about politics:
Thanks for your time.

FROM THE NORTHERN OFFICE…………..
As you all well know, the work situation in this area isn’t the best. We do have the work at
Lambeau Field, with the glaziers making the stadium look more beautiful as ever. Our finishers are doing a great job on the boxes and office space while our painters are waiting in
the wings to start their “beautification” process.
Just up the road from Lambeau field, Cabela's store is starting to take shape. Our contractors do have the glass and glazing, and two union signatories in the running for the paint
work. There are some upcoming projects in the wind, but the outcomes are not known at
this time.
On a personal note, I would like to take a moment to inform you about my recent diagnosis in regards to my health. As many are aware I have been seeking medical attention for
sometime now. It has been recently confirmed that I have Stage 4 lung cancer with being in
stage 4 this is something that is incurable.. With any obstacle I have had to face in my life I
will take each day as it is given to me. I will continue in my position as your Organizer and
Field Representative for as long as I am able. I would like to thank all of you for the wellwishes and prayers.
Gene Yuma
Northern Field Rep

TRUSTEE CHAIRMAN: GLEN PROEBER
Thank you for my nominations and election as your TrusteeChairman for DC7 and Trustee for
Local 781. As your Trustee my primary responsibility to this union is to
conduct internal audits and to suggest
ways that the financial affairs could be
improved. I am committed and will
continue to be the eyes and ears of
the District Council.
DC7 decided to send all lay
people to an auditing seminar in Chicago in September of 2012. This sem-
inar was a great learning experience and gave us the tools as Trustees to help us do our jobs. Some of
the topics covered were Constitutional
duties of Officers, LMRDA requirements, disbursements, audit findings
and verifying compliance. This seminar was the first time that trustees
were taught what our responsibilities
are and what to look for.
A book was given to every
trustee providing them with step by
step information to assist in fulfilling
their obligations as Trustees. Please
4
feel free to go to the website
www.unionreports.gov to view
our local expenditures.
This year all trustees will be
meeting with the auditing division to learn more of what
they do and what we need to
know to do our jobs more
effectively. The cohesiveness
between us will better enable
us to fulfiller duties as trustees.
Thank you.

Apprenticeship & Training News
by: Adam Holmes, Training Coordinator
There have been some changes in apprenticeship since the last time
you have heard from me. The biggest being the online curriculum
that is now available from the Finishing Trades Institute. For those
of you that went through your apprenticeship schooling with the old
books, videotapes, slides or overheads, things have changed. The FTI
decided to bring our instruction out of the dark ages and has revamped the way we will be teaching our apprentices in the future.
All of our apprenticeship instructors now can have access to the curriculum and soon, the apprentice will as well. While some of the information will be the same as before, it will be delivered in new
ways. There are power points and online pieces for just about every
subject. The instructors can even assign online homework and check
on their progress to make sure it gets completed. I have demonstrated the new online curriculum to the Apprenticeship Committees and
they were all happy to see that we were moving apprenticeship into
the 21st century.
The STAR event will be held on
April 27th,2013
at the usual place, the Waukesha County Expo. If
you are eligible, watch for your invite in late February or early March and make SURE to get it back to
us by the deadline. Every year we have members who
don't get it back on time and that could cause you to
not receive your shirts because we only order what
we need at the deadline date so if you are late, you
could be out of luck. Your chances of wining are
about the same this year.
TRAINING CENTERS
All training is now done at our two training
centers, one in Sun Prairie, the other in Big Bend. Up
until this past summer, the painting apprentices in
Madison went to Madison Technical college.
The college came to us and asked if we
would consider moving schooling to our hall in Sun
Prairie. We applied to the state to see if it could be
done. They then came in and had us change a couple
of things and gave us the approval so the apprentices
now come to school at the Union Hall. For those of
you in the Milwaukee area, you probably assumed that
all of our training was happening at our hall and for
the most part, you would have been correct. We still
had a room and a lot of equipment downtown at
MATC until this past summer. That’s when MATC
contacted us and asked if they could bring
everything from there out to the training center.
Six truckloads later, we are no longer holding
classes at MATC. All this is a good thing because
we will be able to ensure that the apprentices are
being trained exactly the way we want and the
colleges, other than paying the instructors, let us
do what we need to do so we can deliver these
classes and try and produce the finest journey
persons we can.

Business Representative
Director of Organizing
First, I would like to wish everyone a Happy, Healthy and
Prosperous New Year ! Let’s talk a moment to catch up
from the last newsletter. July 1, 2012 was a new day for
DC7, after months of campaigning there were new faces
in roles of leadership for the District Council. I won my
election to be the business representative for Local 781.
For those that voted for me, I thank you and for those
that didn't I hope that in the next four years I can gain
your trust and support.
In July, Joel Allen stepped down as Director of Organizing and I was appointed by the new BMST, Joe Jazdzewski to fill that position. I have been busy working with the International Central Region Organizer to work on a plan for what might work in our jurisdiction.
The year 2012 was a huge year for Local 781, we celebrated our 100th
anniversary. We had a sit down dinner at the Pfister Hotel and for those
that attended it proved to be a great event. The International presented
us with a nice plaque congratulating us on our 100 years and it is on display at the District Council headquarters.
MUST CALL IN, please call 262-662-1827 extension 5. Please speak slowly and clear when stating your
name, phone number and the contractor that you are
laid off from. If you aren't registered on our out of
work list you may be in jeopardy of losing your unemployment benefits. We can’t refer you out if we don't
know that you are off of work.
During the slower winter months it is a great time to
catch up on training. Not only can you qualify for the
STAR program but you can always expand your skills
by taking the Industrial class. We are seeing many
union contractors coming into the area to sandblast
and paint bridges. I can get our members on these jobs
if they are qualified. Call Adam Holmes at 262-6621827 extension 24 to register.
We have one more year on our contract since we
extended last year. We will have $1.10 to allocate in
June 2013. Attend the up coming meetings to discuss
your ideas.
Work Safe!!
As 2013 is upon us we can, with confidence, say that things are getting
better for the construction trades. We are slowly getting more jobs and
the jobs are getting larger. Remember that if you are out of work you

1204 & 941 GLAZING LOCAL BUSINESS
REPRESENATIVE
JOEL ALLEN
I hope everyone had a
good holiday season. There have
been some changes at District
Council 7 since our last newsletter. I am currently the business
agent for both glazing locals in
Wisconsin. I would like to thank
the membership of DC7 for
giving me the opportunity to
continue working for them.
The increased responsibilities
has been a challenge but I believe that I have been able to
schedule my time effectively. If
you are a member of Local 1204
or 941 my contact information
is the following:
Office: 262-662-1827 ext. 21
Mobile: 414-687-3347
Email: [email protected]
I maintain an out of
work list for each local at the
Big Bend office. If you need to
register for the out of work list
you can talk to me or Leslie at
ext. 12. If I don't know you are
off, I can’t put you to work,
please register.
I have always felt that
the two glazing locals in the
State of Wisconsin should be
working more closely together
than they have in the past. To
that end, a joint meeting of the
E-Boards was held at the beginning of December. The poor
economy has permanently
changed the way that work is
being bid in the State. Many
companies that rarely went out
of their defined areas for work
are now bidding on jobs everywhere in Wisconsin as well as
out of state. We also discussed
other issues that were concerns
for both locals and hope to
schedule more of these
meetings in the future.
I have been making
contacts with non-union
owners and glaziers on a
more consistent level over
the past months. There are
some non-union glazing
contractors that are considering becoming union signatories in order to grow
their businesses.
Health care, pension benefits, safety and
training issues are a concern
for these employers as well
as the individual glaziers that
work for them. Responses
have been generally positive
and I’ve had some follow up
meetings since the initial
contact.
Our poor work
picture over the past couple
of years has caused the
postponement of our apprenticeship school. School
is usually held in January and
February, but lack of work
has not allowed our employers to start many apprentices. As of now, we
are looking to hold school
in the spring.
The CBA for Local
1204 is up this spring and I
have already begun preliminary discussions with the
employers. Those building
trades that were up last
year had a very rough go in
their negotiations. I believe
that if we are reasonable in
our expectations, we can
hopefully get this contract
done with a minimum of
problems. I hope to start
serious negotiations by the
12
beginning of February.
Work in Wisconsin is
definitely looking up. Bidding
on large and small projects is
very active. As I’ve stated at
the meetings, there are a
number of larger jobs in the
Madison area that are on the
books for our contractors.
Currently there is
approximately $1 to 2 billion
dollars worth of work that has
either started or will be starting this year in downtown
Milwaukee. In addition, there
are a number of large and
mid-size projects that have
moved into the planning and
bid stages in Milwaukee and
Madison. Work in the Fox
Valley also seems to be increasing, with the Lambeau
Field renovation being the
primary one in progress now.
FYI - this will be the
last printed newsletter you
will receive. Going forward, all
news and events will be posted on the DC7 website.
I hope that we will
continue to see any improving
job picture and I look forward
to seeing you at our next union meeting or on a jobsite.
Sincerely, Joel Allen

Madison Painters-Tapers News
by: Jeff Mehrhoff
Members of 802: it has been a long
time since we have had a newsletter so I am
taking this opportunity to educate the membership about important upcoming events, dates
and issues. Since the District Council 7 elections
last June, we have been in a transition period
within the District council. We no longer have
two fulltime business Representatives working
out of the Sun Prairie office. I am the only full
time Representative in the Madison area. Joel
Allen, the Statewide glazing Rep works out of
the Madison area once a week. Organizers
Gene Yuma and Marcus Shepherd are also
working in the Green Bay/Fox Valley area and
the Madison/Janesville area. The 802 jurisdiction
which is the largest geographic area within the
council covers 32 counties from Beloit in the
south to all the way up to the Michigan border
in the North and from Jefferson County in the
East to the Mississippi River in the West. With
that amount of territory it is easy to see why
the staff puts in the hours that we do and why
we are not in our offices as much as we were in
the past.
Having said that I would also point out
that fulltime staff represents all of the members
of every jurisdiction and local union. I would ask
that if I am not in the office please call my cell
phone, because I am not in the office every day.
Text messages are fantastic because I can usually
answer those immediately, so please text me if
possible. E-mail is another way to communicate
with me. My contact information is:

Work Outlook
I am sure many of you are wondering about the
work outlook for the future and I can say that the
Madison area appears to be strong for the next few
years. Epic will continue its ongoing expansion. The
Edgewater Hotel project in downtown Madison has
finally begun and while it is a ways off before we
have finishers, painters or glaziers on site,. It will be
a very good project for us because it will be an all
union project with a signed UW Hospital project
breaking ground this spring which we believe will
provide several years of needed work. There are
also several other large projects either in the planning stages or being proposed for downtown Madison that we feel have a strong chance of proceeding.
For a complete list of work projects and the work
outlook, please attend your monthly meeting because I give a detailed report every month or check
out the DC7 website.

Important notables:
802 members please note that your current contract expires on May 31, 2013 so please
plan on attending your monthly meetings as we work through negotiations.
802 apprentices resume school on January 25, For those that have not been out to the hall
recently stop by and check out the work our apprentices have been doing, it is looking
pretty good.
802 Health/Welfare fund its performing very well having a strong reserve built up that
should help if there are any health insurance increases this year.
802 Pension is in good shape, but we continue to have service problems with the Principal
Group, that makes it hard to service our membership. I do report out at every monthly
meeting on the status of our benefit funds, so please attend your meeting.
We are always in need of volunteer help whether it is with organizing or political action or
community events. Coming up within the next few weeks we have been asked by the
Madison Labor Temple to help paint the hallways, so if anyone is interested please let me
know.

PLEASE ATTEND YOUR LOCAL MONTLY MEETING!!!!!!!!
DC7 ORGANIZER
Marcus Shepherd
On April 1, 2012,
I was appointed to the
DC7 staff as an organizer. I
have now been on staff for
9 months. I can say that
even with all the changes
and hard days its been an
incredible time with a lot
of accomplishments. I care
about my union and our
brothers and sisters. Before I was brought onto
staff I made sure to be
involved in the day to day
activities with DC7. Because of this, I was able to
jump right into the heart of
things. I always seem to
find myself right in the mix
of things, helping the
staff every chance I have,
in order to make DC7
that much more of a
force in the labor movement. You may know me
as an Organizer for the
District Council, but I
wear many other hats in
serving my brothers and
sisters. I am the Chairman to DC7’s Young
Lions, a delegate to the
District Council, and I
am also serving my first
term as President of
Local 781.
20
As organizer for DC7 I service
all of our District Councils’ jurisdiction
spending vast amounts of time on the
road in all areas. On any given day I
could be in the Greater Milwaukee and
Madison area as well as the Kenosha,
Racine or Fox Valley areas checking on
jobs, talking to our brothers and sisters
as well as non-union workers.
I have been able to take time
in getting to know the contractors under our jurisdiction. In Madison I was
invited to sit and talk with the MAFCA
(Madison Area Finishing Contractors
Association). This meeting was productive and provided a platform for the
members of the association to ask questions of me and I was also able to reciprocate. The sole purpose of this particular meeting for me was to make sure
MAFCA knows that they have an organizer serving the Dane and Rock counties
and the surrounding areas. This allows
us to work together to fight for more
work, for both members and contractors in those areas. A recent victory we
had in the Madison area was with a
company by the name of Kuehl Industrial. They initially reached out to me and
with help of the staff of DC7, we were
able to sign our very first Industrial
Painting company.
In the Milwaukee county area
and surrounding counties I have opened
the lines of communication with Chris
Green Inc. I also have been talking with
the workers of F&H Drywall and Applewood Drywall using what's called the
bottom-up approach. The bottom-up
approach is when you talk with workers
about their working conditions, concerns with their employer and the benefits of being represented union members instead of directly going to management and meeting with them about
the possibility of becoming union. You
look to find out who the leader is, who
those workers will listen to and trust.
You talk with him/her to find out what
issues they feel are important and what
they feel would benefit their fellow coworkers and you steer the conversation
around those points to gain credibility
with them. Another approach that I'm
trying and have been successful with is
the top-down approach. (cont. on page
22)
D I S T R I C T C O U N C I L NO . 7
(cont from last page)
this is when you go directly to
management and talk with them about being
Union. In some cases you get the door shut
in your face but in my case, I have opened a
lot of doors with discussing the possibilities
of becoming union and that’s a start.
I have also reached out to our contractors in Milwaukee county and the surrounding counties and was able to hold a
meeting with them at the DC 7 offices. I put
together the meeting with the hopes that
myself and the staff of DC7 could get the
contractors to the table with a desire to
promote our relationship together. This
meeting was also very helpful in introducing
new DC7 staff to our contractors. We were
able to focus on transforming our working
relationship by setting goals of supporting
our contractors, giving them access to our
staff and organizers and keeping our membership working. These goals are important
because as a team, including our Labor leaders, members and management, we are able
to succeed going forward. Our meeting was
a major success and everyone found it to be
very well put together that attended. These
are the things that myself as the DC7 organizer along with other staff members are trying to accomplish.
As your organizer, I go above and
beyond to do what I can for the members of
DC 7. I have been working with a Community Based organization called Urban Underground which is located in Milwaukee. This
organization reaches out to inner city kids to
help give them something to believe in; they
focus on academic accomplishments, and
hands on learning with the hopes on teaching their kids real life skills that will help
them to be successful. With my relationship
with Urban Underground, we were able to
bring more then 15 high school students to
our facility here in Big Bend. We spent our
time together focused on a career day. This
is one of my personal passions because as
we all know, the youth is our future in sustaining DC7 but sustaining our way of life
period. I have been working with and reaching out to all different entities to help bring
our apprenticeship numbers up.
I participate in many different meetings, community based groups, actions and networking and I want to make sure our members know that DC7 staff
are out there working for them. At the same time I can say this to anyone who
asked me, organizing is not only my job but also the job of our membership. The
only way we continue to really succeed is when all parts of the train are moving in
sync. Management heads the train and labor is the heart and soul of the train.
Together we are able to get the job done with quality craftsmanship provided by
the skilled work force of the Painters & Allied Trades DC 7.
As I mentioned much earlier I wear many hats. I am the President of
Local 781 and was elected to that position in June of 2012. Since being elected,
myself and the E-Board for local 781 have had to make some changes for the good
of the local. We also just had our 100th Anniversary which was celebrated at the
Pfister Hotel and we had a blast. We had an outstanding band, great food, outstanding presentation from myself, Jeff Arnold and Sarah Coyne who is the Executive Assistant Director for the Finishing Trades Institute. Also in attendance were
Greg Renne who is the Recruitment Manager for the FTI and Jose Lopez who
works with Job Corps. During our 100th, Adam Holmes presented John Jorgensen with an award for his years of service and dedication to IUPAT DC 7.
I will continue to encourage all our members to please start coming to
meetings and getting involved with what is going on. I personally think this will
make us a much stronger local.
DC 7 has a group that is called the District Council 7 Young Lions. The
Young Lions are a group that has been put together by the International Union
Painters & Allied Trades to get our youth to be more engaged in the activities of
their local and the District Council. I am the Chairman for the DC 7 Young Lions
at the present moment. I am always on the look out for other young leaders who
are interested in taking this challenge on. The purpose of the Young Lions is to
reach out to our younger brothers and sisters and engage them, to help them
understand the history of the labor movement and to mentor them into roles of
leadership. As we can all see, with out youth engagement then we as an industry
and movement are doomed. I do a lot of speaking with the apprentices that come
into IUPAT about the legacy that they will carry. I also have reached out to a lot
of other young men and women in our District Council to get them to understand their value in this movement. Just this last September, DC 7 took 7 Young
Lions to Chicago for our Regional Conference. I must give DC 7 its credit that we
were well represented with our Young lions. We received acknowledgments due

DC7 RETIREES HELP VICTIM OF LEUKEMIA
On January 11, 2013 DC7 BM/ST, Joe Jazdzewski, LU
781 President, Marcus Shepherd and Retiree director
Rick Schriener delivered an LU 781 Centennial bag full of
pull tables from soda cans to Tom and Jennifer Price.
Tom’s father, Jeff price is a retired LU 781 drywall finisher. He asked the retirees to save the tabs for their grandson, Jason who has Leukemia. DC7 will continue to collect

WAKE UP CALL!!!!!!!!!!!
By Dave Strem, Painting Instructor
IF YOU’RE SQUEAMISH OR CANT HANDLE THE TRUTH THEN YOU’LL WANT TO SKIP
THIS ARTICLE…..
The other day I was looking for some misplaced tests in my downtown filing cabinets. As I stumbled around in some of those drawers I found some old class rosters from about 15 years ago to present
day. I started reading the names and I couldn't even remember some of these people. Many are not even
with the Painters/Drywall any more. Better job opportunities for them, I doubt it!!!! Lets take a test and
see if we can find Waldo and come up with the answer, what happened……
LOOK IN THE MIRROR AND ANSWER THESE QUESTIONS
1.
I ALWAYS start at 7:00 o’clock ISH and mark down 7:00 am….
2.
3.
I ALWAYS have to go to the restroom by 7:25 for 15 to 20 minutes
I HAVE TO GO out to the car and get my tools that I should of brought in with me in the first place.
(may as well have a smoke to)
4.
Time now to CALL OR TEXT mama. Its only been 1. 1/2 hours since you had contact last
5.
6.
Time to ease into the project, two speeds come to mind, SLOW AND STOP
I think its BREAK TIME 10 minutes right? Time for a smoke, time for a coffee, get the smart(ass) phone
out 20 minutes later time to creep back to work
7.
8.
I think I have to go the restroom AGAIN (boy my ankle bracelet is tight)
I think Its time to go to work! Oh no back out the car I forgot a tool and (lets make a call, lets have
another smoke)
9. I think the mirror is starting to crack. Is this the reason I'm always laid off? Lets face it. What team
needs a fourth string player.
10. I think I found where WALDO went. He's putting the cheese on the Big Mac's. LETS WAKE
UP..DC7 needs the best of the best., “top gun”, if you will.
If any of the above scenarios remind you of you,. SEE YA, Ill have meal #1 PLEASE.

SIGN, DISPLAY & TRADE SHOW WORKERS
Happy New Year Everybody!!!!
Dean Wanty
DC 7 Director of Servicing
As most of you all know we had an election in June
and Joe Jazdzewski was elected as the new BM/ST. After
the elections I was appointed Director of Servicing, and
also to work with the LU 770 Sign, Display and Trade show workers along
with all the other locals as needed. The locals have an elected Representative but don't hesitate to call anyone on the list to help with questions or
concerns.
In an effort to conserve on finances the DC would like to go paperless. So if you would like information emailed to you please supply us
with your email address. You can also visit our website, www.iupatdc7.com
for pertinent information and a list of available upcoming classes.
I just want to remind members of Local 770 that the regular meetings are held the second Wednesday of the month at Graingers Sports Pub
on 35th and Howard. Making an effort to attend your local meetings is also
a good source of information where you will hear the reports of Delegates
and committees and are able to ask questions. You can also friend us on
face book, [email protected].
I would also like to remind everyone that the Star Event will be held
Saturday April 27, 2013 at the Waukesha county Expo grounds for everyone who is completed a qualifying class in 2012 along with the other qualifications. With that being said lets sign up and complete our classes early
this year.
Once again I would like to thank everyone for their support and the
support of District Council 7 and all our programs. Through our charities
program we were able to buy a sponsorship with the Shrine Circus to give
tickets to “MAKE A WISH FOUNDATION”, which also gave us an advertising banner for the District council
in
Dean Wanty
several venues.
Thank you to all who helped out at the 2013
Greater Milwaukee Auto Show.
Your dedication and hard work made the show
a huge success.

Milwaukee Union Member Attorney
A history of Legal Advocacy, Protecting the rights and interests of working people
Personal Injury • on the job injuries • Labor Law
The Previant Law Firm, S.C. has a long and illustrious history. The firm was founded in 1912 by attorney Joseph Padway, a pioneer in the
field of labor law who played a significant role in the development of many of the major labor laws of Wisconsin on the books today. Mr.
Padway served for a time as general counsel for the American Federation of Labor.
The breadth of our labor law practice is well known and recognized in the communities we serve. Over the years, our firm has participated in federal and state appellate court proceedings, winning nine victories for union members in the United States Supreme Court.
Our team of labor lawyers represent many of the largest labor unions in Wisconsin and throughout the Midwest.
In 1969, Previant expanded its service to injured people by strengthening our litigation team with the addition of noted Wisconsin personal injury attorney Larry B. Brueggeman. Until his retirement in 2011, Mr. Brueggeman has vigorously and successfully led many complex personal injury and wrongful death cases, earning recognition as a "Wisconsin Super Lawyer" and a listing in the publication "Best
Lawyers in America."
In fact, among The Previant Law Firm’s attorneys are four attorneys who are recognized as "Super Lawyers": Partner Thomas Flanagan,
Matthew Robbins, Lisa A. Bangert and Marianne Goldstein Robbins. The firm itself is listed in the Martindale-Hubbell "Bar Register of
Preeminent Lawyers," the definitive directory of the legal profession's top practitioners, designated by colleagues as preeminent in their
field. Also, the following attorneys have been named as "Super Lawyers Rising Stars": Jill M. Hartley, Nathan D. Eisenberg and Jason R.
Oldenburg.
Accolades aside, it's results that count when lives are disrupted and people are suffering after a serious personal injury. Successful settlements and verdicts are the real proof of our dedication to helping the working people of Wisconsin find justice and financial compensation in court.
We invite you to contact us for a free initial consultation. For your convenience, we maintain our primary law office in Milwaukee, as
well as four satellite locations in south and central Wisconsin to offer legal advice and representation to injured people and family members. Call 414-219-0895 or toll-free at 800-558-0975.

ATTENTION:
ALL DISTRICT COUNCIL 7
MEMBERS
District Council 7 is leading towards becoming an organizing District Council. As your Business Manager/Secreatry-Treasuer, I realize that
if we are to grow our District Council and recover market share to employ all the members of our Union, then Organizing MUST be a
priority. The non-union workers are not our enemy, they just need to be in a place that relates to our industry standards and be members
so we can have our signatory contractors competitive. Non-union workers are our competition but those workers need to realize the
benefits to become union members and how we as a Union can raise their standards to meet those of our members as we all gain employment in the industries we represent.
Since becoming your BM/ST, I have encountered numerous challenges to move us in the right direction. A team of representatives and
organizers are essential to comply with an organizing plan that requires having organizers willing and able to assist in moving an organizing
agenda forward in DC7. We have an organizing plan and we need interested members to be a part of that plan.
If you have an interest in becoming part of the DC7 organizing team there may be a place for you. If you are dedicated and sincere in becoming an organizer for the reasons of recovering our markets and posses good communications skills, willing to work hard, then I ask
you to send me a resume outlining your commitment and the skill sets you can offer us. Please send your resume no later then March
22, 2013 .
