The Guild of Saint Anthony Dinner
Thanks to many of our friends and benefactors, our annual fundraising dinner was very successful this year.
All the attendees agreed that the food was delicious, the presentation appealing and the setting comfortable.
We appreciate the help of Mrs. Carol Desmond, Dr. & Mrs. Eli T. Saadi and Shirley Sunderlin who volunteer
their time and energy each year to ensure an enjoyable evening for everyone. We thank also Mrs. JoAnn
Pavlidis for donating the beautiful linens and Msgr. Anthony Spinosa for hosting the crowd at the Cedars Hall
of the National Shrine of Our Lady of Lebanon. We hope that everyone will join us again next year on Saturday April 14 and bring along more family and friends. For more information on how to become a member of
the Guild and how to support the sisters in their ministry to the community you may call 330-538-9822.
Help! We need a New Ice Machine
Our ice machine has grown old along with the people it served! It has been repaired several times over the
years until it completely gave up recently. Quite a disappointment! Sister Madeleine, our director, has found an
efficient ice maker that would suit the daily needs of our people, with a 3-year parts & labor warranty. The
cost is $1,554.77, however, and so we turn to you for help. Any contribution you can make towards the purchase of this new machine is greatly appreciated. Tax deductible donations may be sent to the day care center
at 2675 North Lipkey Rd., North Jackson, OH 44451. Our people will thank you for cooling their sizzling
summer. There is nothing refreshing like a glass of ice water or tea on a hot summer afternoon.

Our Sincere Thanks to…
-The Ladies Garden Club of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Austintown for visiting our participants
and helping them plant tulip bulbs.
-The Austintown Fitch High School Choir for another great performance with a red, white and blue theme.
-The Color Guard, the McDonald Fire Department, the North Jackson Police department, and Mr. Clinton Ray
for joining our outdoor Memorial Day parade.
-Our friends from K-9 for compassion and to “Meeja” the cute little poodle.
-Lori Ference, administrator of Briarfield of Boardman, for a great ice cream social.
-Mr. Chip Giuliano from Sam’s Pizza for the delicious pizza he delivers on our party days.
-Monsignor Anthony Spinosa and Reverend Robert Edwards for meeting the spiritual needs of our people.
-Families, friends and guests who joined us for our Mother’s Day Luncheon in May and made it extra special.
A Tribute to Father Nematallah El-Hayek
The sisters felt so privileged to have been able to take care of Father Nematallah El-Hayek at the day care
center prior to his recent illness. When Father was not feeling good and was asked what he wanted, he replied “I want to go to heaven”. We hope and pray that he is with God in heaven where he longed to be.
Father’s compassion towards others was commendable and his kindness will always be remembered.
The sisters would like to thank the following individuals who made contributions to their ministry in
memory of Father Nematallah El-Hayek.

ADULT DAY CARE
2011 Walk to End Alzheimer’s Disease
For the second year in a row, our day care center is forming a team to participate in the walk to end Alzheimer’s disease and Sister Celine volunteered again to be the team captain. The walk, sponsored by the Alzheimer’s Association, will take place on Saturday, October 8, 2011 at the Boardman Park. Last year, our team
raised over $200.00. This year, our goal is to raise at least $300.00. If you wish to support our team, contact
Sister Celine at 330-538-9822 or visit http://2011walktoendalz.kintera.org/youngstown/sisterceline and
register as a participant or donor. We are recruiting new members!
Many of us know of someone who is affected by Alzheimer’s disease.
We encourage you to be part of this effort and join our walk in honor
and in support of the people you know. We like to believe that together
we can put an end to this terrible disease that deprives people from the
most precious thing they have, their memory.
