SAINT
M A RY
Dear Folks,
I M M A C U L AT E
CONCEPTION
"How do I pray, Father?"
of the
Roman Catholic Church
HOLY CROSS ACADEMY
Join us the second Monday of
the month from 8:15-9pm
Wow, what a question.... but one
that I hear from time to time and know that others are thinking,
but afraid to ask.
Yes, all of us can hear the whispers, 'you're not good at this,' 'you
don't have time,' 'you are too tired,' or 'but you will be miserable.'
So three simple thoughts on how to establish a prayer life:
1. Start small.
Simple principle, if you try to start too big, you are susceptible to
failure and giving up. As you grow closer to Him step by step,
He will strengthen your efforts.
If you’re not used to praying a full rosary, start with a decade.
Work your way up to the full rosary, taking small steps.
2. Spread it through your day.
It’s amazing how the prayers add up. By using times / places
(meals or the commutes to/from work) to trigger a reminder to
prayer, you can stay close to Him the whole day.
3. Just do it.
Excuses are excuses. I like the saying, the perfect is the enemy
of the good. When your children hand you a drawing, to you
criticize them because it falls short of Rembrandt? How much
more does God love our honest, and sometimes feeble, efforts
to turn to Him.
pax,
TAIZÉ
Monday
Sept. 12, 8:15pm
You are invited to a monthly
gathering of prayer in the
ecumenical tradition of the Taizé
community in France.
It is our hope that this monthly
prayer gathering brings together
Christians of all churches as we
realize a bit more each day that
we must rely upon God’s power
to bring about unity among all
who follow Jesus, “as he and the
Father are one.”
This Unity, which embraces
all people, stands at the very
heart of Christ’s mission. Let us
provide a place where his Spirit
can come and accomplish this
plan for us.
Praying with one voice, let
us ask God to bring healing
to our world and end the
divisions that separate
peoples.

Welcome back, HCA students and families! The
first day of school is always such an exciting time. When we opened our doors Monday morning,
we were greeted by the beautiful, smiling faces
of our children. We were happy to welcome
back our returning students and to greet our new
families and their children.
Each year on the first day of school, we invite
our families to accompany their children to their
classrooms. As we do every day, we began with
our morning prayer. Our very hospitable PTO

In January, the Saint Mary Adult

Rome to sing for Mass at St. Peter’s

one that relies for its effectiveness

Pro Life reflection
"A child is God's greatest gift to
the family, to the nation, to the
world. The child is a life from
God, created in the image of God,
created for great things, to love and
to be loved."—Mother Teresa of
Calcutta
Mother Teresa died nineteen
years ago on September 5, 1997.
She saw in each person—no
matter how sick or depraved—
the image of God. She spoke
boldly to those in power about
the evil of abortion. In her
Nobel Peace Prize lecture, she
said that the greatest destroyer
of peace is abortion. She led
women away from abortion
clinics and toward alternatives.
Let us honor her by imitating
her. Mother Teresa, pray for us so
that we may defend life as you did.
O Heavenly Father, we praise and
thank You for the life of Mother
_____
Teresa and her extraordinary
service of love, especially to the
poor, the unwanted, the sick and
the dying. On the anniversary of
her death, we ask You, Beloved
Father, to flood our lives with the
light and spirit of Christ. Allow us
to always light the way for others
with the same deep faith and love
that Mother Teresa showed. Let
our actions resemble her generous
and humble ways. May she rejoice
forever in the Light of Your Love
for she dedicated herself unselfishly
in the service of Your Holy Name.
Amen.

Your generous support is
appreciated.
