Cat’s World would like to encourage you to support your favorite local
shelter. The Board of Directors and volunteers all agree shelters should
work in cooperation to reach the ultimate goal of saving animals lives.
If you are an animal lover then pick a shelter that you like and help to
support their efforts.
Of course Cat’s World would like your support BUT we believe homeless
animals from any shelter deserve a chance at a loving wonderful home.
PLEASE SPAY/NEUTER YOUR PET.

TIDBITS
Cat’s World is now celebrating a year of service to the community!!!
Everyone here is very proud of our accomplishments and we are very
grateful to all of those that have supported us along the way. I hope
we can continue the work that we love and have your continued support in our quest to rescue homeless cats.
We had our first annual membership meeting and we now have 8
members on our Board of Directors. We have yet to select officers so
we will wait until the next issue to announce your new Cat’s World
Board of Directors.
The shelter now has its own phone number-623-974-3388. Please use
this number when inquiring about a surrender or adoption.

COVER KITTY
Callie came to us as a stray. She is a 2 year old Calico. She is very
selective about who she likes but if you come and visit her and she
picks you she will rub on your leg and talk to you. She does like to
talk. If you are her right person she would be a wonderful companion. Please come and visit her in the Free Roam Room. She is one
of our original cats and we would like to see her have her own
home.

EVENTS
Christmas Open House
12-13-14. Our Christmas open house
was a wonderful success. We had
sunshine instead of rain which
proved to be an omen. We had lots of
food, fun and visitors. Cammie and
Max got wonderful homes, which was
the best present of all!!
Susan Corral, Jeremy Waugh, Ann Schleppi and Nancy Babcock attended the 6th Annual AARP Health, Safety and Pet Festival in
Youngtown on Saturday Feb. 21 from 9am to 1pm. It was held in Greer
Park just across the street from the shelter. The Cat’s World group
managed to spread the word, gave a lot of info out and to attract people
to our display even gave out doughnuts. They did a lovely job setting
up a table to introduce more people to our rescue. Thank you for your
hard work and dedication.

MEET KAYLA
So why does this loving 6 ½ year old cat not have a forever home yet?
Here is her story… For the first 5 years of Kayla’s life, she spent her days
hiding in a bathroom cabinet. Her elderly owner became ill and was not
able to properly care for Kayla and her other cats. She was heartbroken to
let Kayla go to a new home but knew it was the best thing for her cat.
Kayla spent 9 months in her foster home and she thrived there. She purred
all the time because she was getting attention and getting her beautiful coat
brushed regularly. She lived with other cats her whole life and got along
with them all even at the foster house. Chasing the laser light was part of
Kayla’s nightly routine and with that exercise and her new healthy diet, she
got down to 17 pounds.
In March of 2014, Kayla was adopted by a single woman who had 2 other
cats. Her new owner ended up having a job that took her away from home 6
days a week. With little human interaction, Kayla retreated to sleeping under
the bed and she gained weight eating from bowls of cat food that were out all
the time. The owner knew this wasn’t a good for Kayla so in December of last
year she informed Kayla’s former foster parent of the situation and Kayla
was removed from the home. The foster parent wanted to take Kayla back in
but could not because she is now living out of state and has a full house of pets
plus she knew putting Kayla on a plane would be so stressful for Kayla.
Cat’s World Rescue took Kayla in and Kayla is a happy, healthy loving cat
with new human and feline friends to keep her company. She’s waited a long
time for her forever home and what a wonderful pet she’ll be for her lucky new
owners. Everybody loves a big, beautiful, sweet purring kitty and Kayla is

just that.

IN MEMORY
Cat’s World Rescue is a no kill shelter, however; pursuant to our euthanasia
policy we will not let animals suffer. The beginning of 2015 was filled with
mixed emotions. On one hand we are celebrating one year of service to the
community and garnering the support as such and on the other hand we have
had tragedy in the form of two losses to our group. Harley (left) who developed cancer and Maxwell (right) who developed FIP (feline infectious peritonitis ). They will be greatly missed.
A gift has been given by Denise Rabal in loving memory of Vanilla
