This Scope of Work lists and describes the system components of the Kaiser Permanente
Standard Digital Operating Room (DOR) used for new construction. The Standard DOR is a
Kaiser Permanente Template DOR approved for use at Kaiser Permanente facilities. The
Standard DOR contains the following equipment:

System Description
ConMed Nurse Assistant HD Video Routing System
Catalogue number: NA RACK DF8
Description: A medical grade digital video routing system with 8 DVI-D inputs and 8 DVI-D
outputs (one output is dedicated for the Nurse Assistant touch screen). This system provides
capture functions for the Digital Recording System and control functions for the monitors in the
room. The system will be located in the lower cabinet at the Nurse’s documentation station.

Description: A 15-inch touch screen provides the user with control of the provided functions in the
operating room. The touch screen will be configured to show only the provided control functions.
This touch screen will be located at the Nurse’s documentation station.

Two (2) 26” LCD HD Surgical Displays
Catalogue number: VP4726F
Description: Two 26” ConMed LCD HD Displays will be mounted from the National Standard
spring arms and receive 24 volt power and DVI over fiber signals.
One (1) 42” wall mounted commercial grade LCD display for viewing PACS images
Catalogue number: PACS MONITOR
Description: A Sharp 42” large format display LCD display, 16 x 9 aspect ratio with a native
resolution of 1080p. This display is capable of display resolutions from VGA to UXGA as well as
HD resolutions up to 1080p. (NB the currently specified PACs monitor is for video display
purposes only and therefore is not DICOM compliant).
One (1) Digital Documentation System for still capture and video recording

Description: A MedXChange digital recording system (DRS01) will be located at the KP provided
nurse station on a shelf. A DVI signal will be routed to the capture system, and S-Video
converted to DVI signal will be routed out from the DRS01 to the Nurse Assistant and each
surgical display. A dedicated 15-inch touch screen (DRS-02) controls the device. The DRS-01
will be located in the cabinet of the Nurse’s documentation station and the touch panel for this
device will be located on the counter of the Nurse’s documentation station.

Description: A SONY A5 color printer to print captured images from the DRS-01. It will be
connected to the DRS-01 recording system via USB. This printer will be located at the Nurse’s
documentation station.

Descriptions: This enables video interface connection for each of the eight (8) DVI-D inputs to the
the Nurse Assistant HD System.

Descriptions: The main equipment boom will house one (1) Composite, one (1) S-Video and one
(1) HD endoscopic camera Video input plate. One (1) HD-15 (VGA) Computer Video input plate
will be located on the anesthesia boom. One (1) PACS computer video input plate located at

Audio System

Room Status Observation System (Not part of the ConMed Nurse Assistant HD Video
Routing System)

Description: The Room Status Observation system functions independent to the Standard DOR.
A room camera will be mounted on the wall and connected to either the hospital local area
network or a private local area network. At the discretion of KPIT, KP facility management and in
compliance with appropriate regulations, a customer provided computer and display located at
the Nurse Control Desk will support viewing of up to 16 operating rooms. Using permission based
network access; this system may be viewed remotely at any computer within the network. This
functionality is to be determined and deployed by KPIT, KP facility management and in
compliance with appropriate regulations.
Pre-Cabling for future upgrade to Medical Device Control (option)

General information
Installation Information
Installation timelines will be determined by Kaiser Permanente and ConMed Integrated Systems
Project Management. A minimum lead-time of 12 weeks is desirable. One installation fee will be
charged for the initial installation. Additional installation fee(s) will be charged for subsequent
additions/modifications to the DOR.
Architectural Design Guide
An Architectural Design Guide for the Standard DOR is available (Document number 581-0005AA Rev AB). This design guide describes the physical plant infrastructure required to support the
Standard DOR.
Supported Upgrades
The Standard DOR may be upgraded to include medical device control. This device control
includes ConMed Linvatec True HD camera (IM4000), ConMed Linvatec 300W Xenon Light
Source (LS7700), and ConMed Linvatec 40L Insufflator (GS1002). This upgrade is made
available by ordering the Medical Device Control Package. Other manufacturers' devices may be
controllable with this upgrade. Please confirm with a ConMed Linvatec representative for valid
interfaces at the time of installation.

Accessory Connections
DRSHD
The image below shows the correct locations for connecting DRSHD accessories. Accessories should only be
connected as shown and/or described below.
1. Monitors are optional. Should one be used, the VGA cable coming from the monitor should be
attached to the MONITOR connection on the DRSHD. The audio cable should be attached to the
AUDIO OUT. The USB cable should be attached to one of the USB connections on the DRSHD.
3. If a microphone is to be used, it should be attached to the MICROPHONE/MIC jack.
4. Any video device that is to be used for capturing video, should be attached to either the HDMI input
(HD Camera) or one of the 3 SD video capture connections (1 S-Video, 2 Composite).
5. Only the power supply that is shipped with the DRSHD should be connected to the POWER
connection. The power supply is a Trump Power Medical Power Supply Model # FSP4W-70MP.

Connecting computer and monitor to power
The DRSHD system comes with 1 HOSPITAL GRADE power cord which is indicated by the Green dot on the
male end of the cord for connecting the computer and monitor to the electrical outlet. In order to achieve proper
grounding of the DRSHD system, use the provided HOSPITAL GRADE power cord or equivalent.
WARNING: A multiple portable socket-outlet or extension cord should not be connected to the system.
WARNING: Do not connect any items which are not specified as part of the system.
NOTE: Using a multiple port power strip should not be used to connect the system because it can increase the over all
leakage for the system.

WARNING:
There are no known potential electromagnetic or other interference between the DRSHD system and other
devices. If the system does cause harmful interference, the user is encouraged to correct the interference by
one of the following methods:
• Relocate the DRSHD or the device that is receiving the interference.
• Increase the separation between the DRSHD and the device that is receiving the interference.
• Connect the DRSHD into an outlet on a circuit different from that to which the device is connected.
There are preventative measures that can be taken to ensure proper functionality of the DRSHD system. The
system should be shutdown and restarted periodically (at least every other day). A proper shutdown sequence
would be to go to “Start….Shut Down...then choose Shut Down...click OK”. Do not just hit the power button on
the box to turn off the system.
The fuses used in the DRSHD system are non-replaceable by the user. If there is a problem with a fuse, please
contact customer service at 888-982-4469 or email [email protected]
There are no repairable component parts in the DRSHD system. Any system that needs repair should be
returned to the manufacturer for such repair.
The DRSHD system should be transported and stored at or close to room temperature (room temperature is
roughly 70-73 degrees Fahrenheit, 21-23 degrees Celsius, or 294-296 kelvins). The system should not
be exposed to extremely hot or cold conditions. The range percent of relative humidity is 20-60 Rh. The
atmospheric pressure should be in the range of 850-1050 hPa.
This equipment is not suitable for use in the presence of flammable anesthetic mixture or with nitrous oxide.

(ex. 1100 VA surge protector), in accordance to the DRSHD (Digital recording System High Definition)
Med X Change Inc will not be held responsible for any personal / internet use. The DRSHD is to be used for Digital Recording only. The warranty will be null and void, in response to any repairs that may be needed, if personal / internet use is
apparent.
