Young Innovators of the S.S. Block,Pg-2
focused on science
by putting up a display of their Intellectual Ideas on 11th
July, 2015.Projects on Conservation of Energy and the
use of Chemical, Tidal, Solar and Wind Energy were
displayed. It was set up so as to provide a platform to
students to gain first-hand knowledge on the various
models made with hard work and expertise, hence,
developing their scientific aptitude. It was surprising to
see how innovative their minds were and how they
thought “out of the box”. We hope that in the future,
they will continue their study and exploration of science.

Through The Wild Woods…
As soon as the vacation started, S1's went
on a fun-filled trip to Ranikhet and Jim
Corbett from 16th-20th May. The students
stayed in a beautiful resort Woodsvilla
and engaged in various recreational
activities, like rock climbing, rappelling
and even made tents in the wilderness,
which was a memorable experience.
Moreover, activities like Tambola, Card
House making, Ad-Mad etc. were also
thoroughly enjoyed by kids.
If we could turn back time…
A Sojourn to the Shivaliks…
The students of S2 went for an adventure
trip to Mussoorie from 20th to 30th May
2015, which was enjoyed by the students.
They visited the famous Kempty Falls and
Gun Hill at Moussurie. The students had
two days stay at a camping resort. Students
enjoyed activities like Rappelling, Flying
Fox, Tree Climbing, Knot Tightening etc.
It was an incredible experience for each
one of them.

August and 2nd September 2014.

A Call of the Wild...
S3’s doing Rock Climbing
The S3's from the middle block went on a camping excursion
to Chail in Himachal Pradesh and Chandigarh from 22nd
May to 25th May 2015. Students enjoyed every bit of camping
and related activities in Chail. From Rock Climbing to
Rappelling or Flying Fox to Crossing the Human Bridge,
each and every activity was bravely executed by the
children. Students felt living in camps was altogether a very
new and different experience. After Chail, the group went
off for a brief stay in Chandigarh where, they visited Sukhna
Lake and the creative Rock Garden. They enjoyed the beauty
of the garden, which has been carved out of waste material.
The trip was most enjoyable and insightful.
The Next Great Adventure!
On 18th May 2015 a group of 38 students of
S4 went to Shimla. It took around 9-10 hrs
to reach there. They went to the Sankat
Mochan Temple and Jakhu Temple and
also visited Chail and Kufri. After visiting
the temples, they roamed on the mall road
and had lots of fun. They also saw the
highest cricket ground.

Small Moments, Big Picture!

On the 18th of May, A group of 30 students of class
S5 left for a 4 day school trip to Bhimtal, Nainital
and Jim Corbett via road. It took 20 hours for them
to reach the hotel. The days that followed were
filled with nature walks and exciting activities like
rappelling, flying fox and visiting local temples. The
students also went for a jungle safari where they
saw few of the indigenous species of animals. Tired
and exhausted, the students finally came back with
wonderful memories to look back upon.

Young Minds of MUN…
Students of Modern Barakhamba Road went to Delhi Public
School, Sushant Lok for a Model United Nations (MUN)
conference. The conference, one of the largest in the city was
attended by all of Delhi's prestigious institutions. From
Modern School, Varun Pant (S7) and Aryaman Sood (S5-F)
were awarded special mention in the United Nations General
Assembly. Ambika Pandey (S5-B) was awarded a special
mention at the UNCLOS review conference, which
coincidentally was headed by 3 renowned alumnii of our
school - Shivish Soni, Siddhant Bajaj and Aakash Bhalothia.

Spotlight!
Bhavya Rishi from Modern School, Barakhamba
Road is Delhi’s leading woman shuttler and is
currently going through the paces at the Prakash
Padukone Badminton Academy in Bangluru. The
modernite’s tryst with the game began in 2010.
Currently, she has got a one year extension with the
Padukone Academy. Bhavya has won 2 medals at the
Israel Youth International meet last year and the
school has given its full support to ensure that Bhavya
can make the school and the country proud.

Sensitization of Disaster Management
Students of S3 under the guidance of Flt
Lt (Mrs) Sunita Dixit conducted
Sensitisation of Disaster Management
during the P.T.M. on 11th July 2015. The
students covered the topics on disaster
such as Earthquake, Tsunami, Fire,
Floods, etc. The display of models on
various disasters and posters attracted
the attention of students and parents and
helped them to understand the
importance of how to deal with the
situation in case of a disaster.
