Thank you for purchasing our mail bid catalog. To insure the success of this, our
first sale this Fall, we do encourage you to bid early. We have accumulated a
variety of designs and factories, each of which is desirable in its own right. We hope you
find something to your liking that will fit into your collection. For your convenience, be
sure you phone ahead if you wish to schedule a viewing appointment.
A note on damage and repair: Stoneware was not originally intended as elegant,
expensive objects created strictly for beauty and display. They were utilitarian use. We also
strongly feel that these minor chips, age lines and repairs do not detract from the overall
value or beauty of each piece. We hope you share our opinion in determining your selections and bid amounts.

BIDDING PROCEDURES AND GENERAL CONDITIONS
1. Mailed, emailed and faxed bids must be received on or before September 17th, 2010. If you must phone bid,
we strongly suggest that you call prior to the closing date with questions or to insure your bid is received. No
phone bids will be accepted after 7:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time Saturday, September 18th, 2010.
2. Each lot in the sale has a minimum bid price. This bid is indicated in bold type after each lot. The minimum bid price is the lowest
accepted amount to purchase that lot, with exception being those items indicated with an asterisk*. These items have a reserve
price (see condition #9).
3. You may call at any time prior to the closing date to check the status of your bid and / or increase your bid at
that time.
4. Bids are increased in preset increments stated below:
Up to $200
$10 minimum increase
$200 to $1,000
$1,000 to $2,000
$2,000 to $5,000 $100 minimum increase
$5,000 to $10,000 $250 minimum increase
$10,000 and UP $500 minimum increase
(REMEMBER BIDS DO NOT INCLUDE BUYER’S PREMIUM)
5. If there are more than one bid on any given lot, the high bid is determined by taking the second highest bid and increasing it
by one bidding increment as set forth above.
Example: You bid $900 on a lot, which is the highest bid received to date. The second highest bid is $500 the current winning bid so far would be yours at $525 (I.E. 2nd high bid plus one increment of $25). Any
bid received below your $900 bid would be automatically increased until we reach your maximum bid level.
6. Your pledged bid will not be disclosed, only the current high bid.
7. Call backs: We will initiate call backs to the three highest bidders on items over $2,000 only. These will begin
after the auction close time to resolve the top lots in the auction. No other calls after the close time will be
accepted or bids executed with the exception noted above.
8. The highest bidder will prevail. In the event of ties, the earliest bid will win. We as auctioneers, reserve the
right to settle any dispute, regulate the bidding, and refuse any bid judged not to be in good faith.
9. Some of the lots in this sale are being sold subject to a reserve. These lots will be indicated with an asterisk*
before the lot number. A “RESERVE” is the minimum price agreed between the consignor and us below
which a lot will not be sold. We may implement reserves by bidding on behalf of the consignor. If this occurs,
we will inform you when you are bidding. We also reserve the right to withdraw any lot before its sale.
10.All sales are final. However, all lots are guaranteed as described as to condition and authenticity. Any returned
lots must be received by us in the same condition as when shipped and be shipped prepaid.
11. New York State residents will have sales tax added to the invoice unless a signed and completed exempt form is
on file.
12. Winning bidders will be notified by written invoice. Payment is due upon receipt of this invoice and
merchandise will be shipped immediately after remittance is received. 13% buyer’s premium will be applied to
the invoice.
13.Packing, shipping and insurance is additional, and will be reflected and itemized on the invoice. Shipping
charges will be approximately $30 for 2 Gal. or smaller and $40 for 3 Gal. and larger. Shipping is more to the
far west and south and on oversize pieces. Allow 2 to 3 weeks for delivery. Insurance charges are additional.
14. All pieces will be on view here (at our showroom) through Friday, September 17th, 2010. Call for an
appointment if you wish to view in person, or, individual color photos are available.
15. Bidding on any item indicates your acceptance of the conditions of this sale.

Extraordinarly, rare miniature butter churn complete with original decorated churn guide and wood
dasher. Deeply impressed at the shoulder, “JAMES
O’HARA PICTON”. Attributed to the pottery W.
E. Welding in Brantford, Ontario Canada. Profusely decorated with what appears to be a man
smoking a pipe with an “evil eye” above. Interior is
finished in a brown Albany glaze. There is an old,
large rim chip on the back. Other small, old chips
on the front. There is a glaze flake at the base on
the front that probably occurred when made. The
original decorated guide was broken ages ago and
carefully repaired using applied muslin cloth on the
bottom side as a make-do repair.

floral decorations. One of
the best Athens coolers we
have ever sold. There are
three tight clay separation
lines down from the rim

left ear. They are barely noticeable on the exterior and
the piece “rings true”.
