Lakeside Pride Music Ensembles is Chicago’s premiere family of
performance groups for members and allies of the lesbian,
gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) communities. Our annual
series of performances helps members and allies of the LGBT
communities connect to diverse audiences everywhere through
music.
Last year, the Lakeside Pride Marching Band, Lakeside Pride
Symphonic Band, and Lakeside Pride Jazz Orchestra reached
more than one million people. In 2011, we were inducted into the
prestigious Chicago Gay and Lesbian Hall of Fame. This recognition
reflects the legacy of contributions our ensemble members and
our supporters have made to the city of Chicago.
Anyone can join our ensembles regardless of prior musical
experience. Our membership is inclusive of all races, ethnicities,
genders, ages, religions, abilities/disabilities, sexual orientations,
gender identities, socioeconomic statuses, and geographies.
Lakeside Pride is a recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. All
members, conductors, and the Board of Directors are volunteers,
sharing their time, talent, and love of music. The operating budget
for the group comes from ticket sales, small government grants,
and the generosity of individuals.
To join an ensemble, purchase tickets, or make a tax deductible
donation, visit www.LakesidePride.org.

Give the Band a Hand!
Lakeside Pride Music Ensembles is a self-managed organization with no paid staff.
Everyone - from the talented musicians, to our excellent conductors and the governing
Board of Directors - volunteers their time and talents to bring you the best instrumental
performances we can.

Our operating budget comes from concert ticket sales, special events and performances,
small government grants and donations.
With all we do to be a self-sustaining organization we need your help!
Please make a donation to our Give the Band a Hand campaign. With your
support, Lakeside Pride can continue to proudly represent the best of the LGBT
community while presenting quality entertainment.
Share in our love of music and make a tax-deductible donation today. You can give

LAKESIDE PRIDE MARCHING BAND
The Ensemble that Started it All!
Our award-winning marching band and color guard entertains
nearly one million spectators annually at parades and events. This
ensemble embodies the vision of the original Chicago Gay Pride
Band, which formed in 1979 as one of the first LGBT bands in the
country.
Annual events include the Chicago Memorial Day Parade, Chicago
Pride Parade, and the Oak Park July 4th Parade among others. If
you can play a musical instrument, we can teach you to march and
wave at the crowd!
LAKESIDE PRIDE JAZZ ORCHESTRA
Big band jazz that will knock your socks off!
Our jazz orchestra interprets retro-classics from the roaring 20s,
swinging 30s, 40s bebop, 50s Sinatra, 60s Bossa Nova, 70s soul,
80s Fusion, 90s rock and 00s pop. The band and its constellation
of small ensembles perform regularly throughout Chicago at the
Center On Halsted, local bars, Adler Planetarium, and in support
of LGBT gala events and receptions. Release your inhibitions and
come hang with the hippest cats around!
LAKESIDE PRIDE SYMPHONIC BAND
Strike Up the Band!
The Lakeside Pride Symphonic Band features members and
friends of the LGBT community from a variety of musical
backgrounds. We welcome anyone who can play a musical
instrument.
Each year, our Symphonic Band performs a repertoire that
includes new and traditional band literature, orchestral
transcriptions, show tunes, and other favorites. We frequently
feature special guests, including conductor Robert Sheldon, the
Chicago Gay Men’s Chorus, and Artemis Singers, and have even
performed accompaniment to a screening of the hilarious silent
film, “A Belch Can Ruin a Wedding!”
