good thoughts
What is Maturity?
1)
Maturity is when you stop trying to change people, and instead focus on changing yourself.
2)
Maturity is when you accept people for who they are.
3)
Maturity is when you understand that everyone is right from their own perspective.
4)
Maturity is when you learn to let go.
5)
Maturity is when you are able to drop expectations from a relationship and give for the sake of giving!
6)
Maturity is when you understand that whatever you do, you do for your own peace.
7)
Maturity is when you stop proving to the world how intelligent you are.
8)
Maturity is when you focus on the positives in people!
9)
Maturity is when you do not seek approval from others.
10) Maturity is when you stop comparing yourself with others!
11) Maturity is when you are at peace with yourself!
12) Maturity is when you can differentiate between “need” and “want” and when you can let go of the wants!
13) Maturity is when you stop attaching happiness to material things !

Profile of SKS Chakshu Foundation
????
My dear friends,
SKS Chakshu Foundation came into existence in the year
1993 with a vision to provide basic amenities in the
areas of education, enterprise, health and infrastructure;
and to provide villagers a helping hand in raising their
lives to a level beyond mere survival.
In recent years, the formation of women’s Self-Help
Groups (SHGs), with a membership of over 2,500,
spread across 64 villages, has put in place a powerful
force of social change and economic advancement in the
lives of the villagers, especially women.
In the year 2000 with only 40 students, we started a
school at Shivkar village named Rakesh Jain Madhyamik
Vidhyamandir for imparting education from K.G. to
Std.10. Now, more than 650 students are reaping the
benefits every year and the results of SSC pass-outs
stand at 97%—the best in the District. The school is
equipped with computers for students with E-learning
programmes and internet connectivity. Extra-curricular
courses like arts, music, dance, mal-khambh and sports
training are provided free of cost. In addition we also run
IBT (Introduction to Basic Technology) courses, enabling
the students in future to secure admissions in ITI’s under
reservation available for IBT certificate holders.
We have a tie-up with an ophthalmic centre in an
operating theatre at a renowned hospital in Panvel in
association with our club where we conduct regular eye
check-up camps around the Taluka. We also provide
cataract surgery free of cost to patients and even arrange
for their transport. In the last Rotary year, we have
conducted about 120 cataract surgeries with back-up
support and regular monitoring. We also provide medical
aid for the villagers at Usarli.
Around 48 villages that had no access to clean water
and witnessed several incidences of water-borne
diseases, now have access to clean potable water
due to borewells dug in each village with support of
our foundation.
At present, we have an ambitious plan of constructing
2,000 toilets for households falling under the Panvel
Taluka. We had successfully completed the construction
of 350 toilets and another 1,650 will be taken up and
completed by the end of 2017, under the programme
“Let’s Build Toilets” with the help of generous individual
donors. We are exploring the option of approaching
corporates for funding the project under CSR to achieve
the goal of making Panvel Taluka free of open-defecation.

Women’s Empowerment through
Infrastructure
The Rotary Club has a long
association with the RK Mission
in Sakwar. With the regular visits
and hard work of late Rtn Kishore
Sharma and help from Rtn
Badrinarayan Barwaleji and Rtn
Raju Barwaleji, we used to conduct
a women’s empowerment project in
surrounding villages. We have now
restarted this project with help from
Swami Avdhootanandji.
The first camp was held on 3rd June
2015, and about 350 women took
part. Mr Parag Lavate of MAHYCO
gave them valuable information
and tips on how to grow better
vegetables and get an optimum
result. After this, various types of
seeds were distributed.
Swami Avdhootanandji, along
with social activists Mrs. Minal
Paranjape and Dr. Anuja Janvalekar
had done a lot of field work. They
mapped the surrounding villages
and a few self-help groups were
formed.

projects
A women empowerment project
is also in place at the Nere village
in Panvel, in which the club is
involved. Rtn Nirbhay Jain and
his SKS Chakshu Foundation are
running it.
Rtn Nirbhay is providing all the
expertise for the project. He sent
his team, Mr Gulab Suryawanshi
as administration manager, Mrs.
Suvarna Bhujbal as Project Leader,
and her co-worker Mrs Harshada
Mandavkar Suvarna.
In the first meet, they started by
singing Marathi folk songs, and
encouraged all the ladies to sing
along. Soon the ice was broken,
and everybody started interacting
freely. Mrs Suvarna then explained
in detail how the group works and
the importance of understanding
the financial aspects of a business,
delegation of responsibility, skill
development and marketing.
Harshada giving demonstration of making rice chapatti
Later, Mrs Harshada showed
the women how to make rice
chapattis, which is one of their
highest selling products; being
made for restaurants, marriages
and other functions.
With this event, we are reviving
our teaching initiative as well

as helping tribal women to grow
vegetables via new techniques in
agriculture. This will help them in
reducing malnourishment, and also
increase their household earnings.
