Its Significance
Lisboa, Torre do Tombo
7 to 12 December, 2015
9:30-19:30 | Free admission
Torre do Tombo hosts the Magna Carta from
Hereford Cathedral (1217) and the only
surviving copy of King John’s Writ (1215),
on the occasion of the global tour to mark its
800th anniversary.
In addition, the exhibition will feature
documents issued during the reign of King
Afonso II, contemporaneous with Magna
Carta, which highlight Portugal’s innovative
administrative policy at the time, as well as the
Windsor Treaty of 1386, which established the
basis of bilateral relations between Portugal
and Great Britain up to the current times.
