ECO CHILL Overview
ECO CHILL is an engineered solution to lowering
energy costs in your facility. Using Cimco’s over
90 years of expertise in the ice rink business,
ECO CHILL collects and recycles the energy used
to maintain the ice surface, providing abundant

Unlike geo-thermal heat pump systems that
require thousands of feet of plastic tubing
buried in the ground outside the building,
ECO CHILL’s unique energy recycling equipment
is all contained within the mechanical room.
This avoids the long-term environmental
uncertainty of contaminating local ground water in the event of a leak in a ground source system.

ECO CHILL is also modular in nature, allowing the designer to choose those components that best
match the needs of your facility. In all cases, quality ice is the number one priority of an ECO CHILL
system, ensuring your facility users' satisfaction while you benefit from greatly reduced energy costs.
Reduced Energy Usage
ECO CHILL is designed to recycle 100% of the
energy used to maintain the ice surface back
into the building heating systems. These
heating loads can vary significantly over a 24
hour period, but by using computerized control
and energy storage strategies, the heat can be
made available when it is most needed.
Naturally this results in a significant reduction of
energy costs. In addition, the system minimizes
or eliminates the burning of fossil fuels,
reducing the release of damaging greenhouse
gases into the atmosphere.
Accelerated System Payback
ECO CHILL begins paying back both the owner and the environment the day
the system starts. Though initial equipment and installation costs may be
slightly higher for an ECO CHILL system, the payback time is surprisingly
short, due to the impressive energy savings, lower maintenance costs and
the reduced conventional HVAC system components required.
The secret to this is the high efficiency industrial heat pump technology at the core of the ECO CHILL
system – delivering approximately 4 kW of heat energy for every kW of power input. And the
modular design allows retrofitting of existing plants with many of the energy conserving features
normally only available to new arenas.

THE MODULAR CONCEPT INCLUDES:
4 ECO-CHILL PACKsTM provide the essential refrigeration

components, including low maintenance, high efficiency screw
compressors, low refrigerant charge, compact stainless steel
plate & frame heat exchangers and microprocessor controls.
They are available in 50 TR, 60 TR, 70 TR, 80 TR, 120 TR and 150 TR capacities, with your choice of
environmentally friendly refrigerants.
Additionally, our innovative MIN-LUBE™ automatic oil recycling system reduces oil consumption
and enhances safety by eliminating the need for manual draining of oil. ECO CHILL is designed
with all the capacity you need for quick ice-making, and multiple packs can be applied in parallel
for enhanced reliability on larger systems and multi-pad installations.
4 ICE LOGIC CONTROLTM can provide intelligent management and control of the total HVAC & R

system to accommodate specific requirements or activities schedule. The system includes precise
infrared temperature control of the ice surface, event scheduling, and zone temperature control.
4 ICE BATTERYTM provide convenient, energy-boosting thermal storage. This allows you to take

advantage of virtually all of the heat available from your refrigeration system, in order to meet
the different heating requirements in the building, while reducing peak energy demand.

It should be remembered, that as attractive as an energy recycling system may appear from a cost
and environmental perspective, your facility must maintain quality ice and a comfortable
environment. ECO CHILL's built-in redundancy for both heating and cooling ensures you will always
be able to maintain ideal conditions throughout your facility.

or other government energy grants to assist in the purchase of this high
