Feel free to SHARE them on FACEBOOK and email them to friends and family so they can
see what we are up to. There will be regular updates on the new blog.
TUI is also running a points competition. To get points for the school we need to send in
receipts showing purchases of Tui branded products from Mitre 10 and Mitre 10 MEGA. If
you purchase these items from these outlets, please send your receipt to Opua School, 2
Franklin St Opua, Northland, 0200. Unfortunately our nearest Mitre 10 is in Whangarei/
Kensington now, so get the word out there please!
Today we were awarded with a GOLD HEART AWARD.
Rhona, a representative from the New Zealand Heart
Foundation came to our assembly and praised the school
for being so aware of healthy choices and recognised all
the hard work that goes into being the
“best school in NZ”.
The staff have worked very hard to make sure the school
met the Foundation’s criteria. For more information visit

Ali Edwards (Lisa and Holly’s

school every second Monday
morning to take any

We have the interschool X-country

other races pupils can enter later in
the year.
Ali will take them training outside of
the school area. Safety will come
first and all participants must be
behave sensibly.
If your child is interested in training
with Ali please send a note to the
school office.

On
behalf of the children and
staff at Opua School I would like to thank
the coaches, managers and parents who assist
in winter sports. Our children are extremely
lucky to have such a dedicated support group
such as yourselves. One day the children will
grow up and realise how lucky they were to
have folk like you and they will do the same
for their children!
Last term we alerted you to the fact that we
would be having another mid term break to use
up the 1 extra day that we have owed to us (the
Board made the Puff ‘n Pull day and the
Regatta school days to encourage 100%
participation).
We used 1 day last term and we have 1 more
up our sleeve. The Board has discussed the different options and has decided to have a three
day weekend from Friday the 24th August.
This term is 11 weeks long and there are no
public holidays at all, we hope that this 1 day
off will come as a welcome break.
Hughie Blues is on the lookout for keen/
interested Opua School pupils who would
like to take part in this year’s North
Island Primary School Ski Champs at
Whakapapa in August. To find out more,
please give Hugh a call after hours on
0272378533.
