How to Keep Your
Customers for Life

• Use your customers’ services and buy
their products. If you want to increase
loyalty, there is no better way.
•. Send thank-you cards. Make sure they
are handwritten and sent promptly.
Peter Drucker attributed much of his
success to the fact that he sent out
12 thank-you cards every day.
• Return phone calls promptly. Since so
many people don’t return calls, you
automatically look good when you do.
•. Do what you say you are going to do.
• Do things when you say you’re going to
do them.
• Underpromise and overdeliver.
• Be credible. If you can’t establish that
trust right away, customers may start to
look at your competitors.
• Be accessible. Make sure you are
available and willing to help customers
whenever there is a problem. Your business
should be open to meet the convenience
of your customers and not only for your
convenience.

with your target market.
Since Kathy is busy on traveling the speaking circuit, I
thought I would take a minute to drop you a note as the
“Spring Cleaning” season is right around the corner. Now
I assume you all think I am talking about the chore list
at home including the garage, basement, and maybe even
planning some new landscaping for the yard. Well, you’re
wrong!
You must be utilizing all the tools
necessary to get your message out
on a regular basis so that your
clients know who to call when
a need arises. You are the expert
in your field. They need to know
that.
Let’s look at this opportunity as a second chance to
establish and expedite your New Year’s resolution with
regard to revitalizing your work efforts to combat this
economic storm. It’s like anything else. Not to harp on
time management, but if there is time to make social
plans, make tee times and attend social events, there’s
definitely time to get your marketing efforts back on track
and still set a course for this year.

By the time you receive this newsletter, the first quarter
of 2010 is already on the books. We have only nine
more months to make it happen. So what are you doing
different this year than in the past. Remember, hope is
not a strategy!
Know your customers. Give them each a call to check in
and see how you can be of assistance. Let them know you
have their back and are ready to help when needed.
Marketing and marketing expense are unique subjects that
we all go back and forth on. You tried something once
and it didn’t work so you gave up. Years ago there was less
competition and the phones always rang. You put in ad in
the Yellow Pages once a year and were done. That’s not the
way it is anymore.
Your marketing machine must be hitting on all eight

clients and the response is the same. Things are really bad
right now. We have no money to market. We tried it once
and saw no results. We will just wait it out till things get
better…

CREAMY REUBEN SOUP
1/2 c. onions, chopped
1/4 c. celery, chopped
1/4 c. green pepper, chopped
2 tbsp. butter
2 tbsp. flour
1 c. beef stock
4 oz. shredded corned beef
1 c. (4 oz.) Swiss cheese, shredded
3/4 c. sauerkraut, rinsed & drained
1/4 c. butter
2 c. half & half
Instructions
Level: hard
HOW TO PLAY: Played on a grid that is nine squares high and nine squares
