Four years of projects & pilots
In these years 7 projects were implemented:
• Il Trovatore – Leghorn port test in cooperation with Joint Research
Center
• Tiger Pilot - Genoa Fast Corridor
• Tiger Demo - Genoa Fast Corridor
• Ten-T Ravenna Fast Corridor project and pilots
• B2Mos project and pilots
• Anna project and pilots
• Ten-T Widermos project and pilots
Main objectives were:
• Procedure simplification / security
• Transit time reduction
• Smart tracing & tracking with standardization model (existing
ISO 18000-7, radio frequency identification for item management;
ISO 18185, Freight containers — Electronic seals, etc)

Il Trovatore & JRC – the
starting point
DIGITAL GLOBAL SUPPLY-CHAIN
Boost the competitiveness of the national logistics system:

immaterial infrastructures in order to have a logistics platform
virtually extended to the entire national territory

extend the network of controls beyond the EU borders to
promote the development of new trade routes

identification of innovative solutions based on RFId (RadioFrequency Identification) technologies

seal containers, remotely check the goods unloaded up to their
transfer to the dry-port, and better define the reference
organization model.
In August 2008 a cooperation agreement was signed between Italian Customs Agency and with the
JRC
UIRNet
Institute for the protection and the security of citizens within the Joint Research Center of the EU
Commission. The agreement aims at identifying new solutions to trace and track down goods.

eSeals / Internet of Things operations
 «Baptise» the Seal with the container ISO code;
 Container identification – in yard and at the gate;
 Authorise the Seal closure;
 Questioning the eSeals on the container status:
• Open;
• Closed;
• Tampered with time reference;
 Questioning the eSeals on the history of the
events registered:
 Authorised opening;
 Authorised closing;
 Tampering status.
