About us...
Trendy mirrors has a wealth of experience spanning three generations of
Thom family mirror manufacturers. William Thom senior pioneered mirror
silvering in New Zealand back in1938, his aim was quality, affordability
and service. This is the core of Trendy Mirrors business and subsequently
we only produce lasting quality at a realistic price.
We produce a range of high quality Bathroom mirrors. This is essential
if the mirror is to last in typical conditions. For this reason we use Mirrox
copper and lead free silver mirror. Salt tests show it has superior resistance
to corrosive elements and moisture vs traditional silver mirror. Secondly the
mirror is ripple free giving it a true reflection without unsightly distortion.
Lastly, Mirrox mirror does not use copper or lead in the production stage,
making it environmentally friendly.
Every one of our strict quality controlled New Zealand mirrors is supplied
ready for installation with all necessary fixings provided.
Almost all types are designed to hang both portrait and landscape. Safety
vinyl back is optional and a pre-requisite on many of our framed products.
Our designs cover every conceivable shape and type: mirror tiles, rectangular,
circular, oval, triangular or arched; with polished, bevelled, sandblasted
edges or framed to your choice.
Our traditional framed mirrors are made from durable solid wood and the
bevel mirror will reflect true brilliance. Many more designs can be located in
our Decorative Collection brochure or website.
Mirrors can be custom made to size for a perfect fit.
For those fogged-up bathroom mirrors, electric demist pads are available on
almost all types, leaving a clean and mist free surface.
Choosing a Mirror to suit your bathroom or living area
Mirrors in a bathroom or living area reflect light and can add light to dark areas. Larger mirrors add a perception of space.
Size
•
For darker and smaller areas use a large mirror to add light and perception of space.
•
For a general size check try cutting some newspaper to size and hold against the wall.
•
For size symmetry, check vanity width, window framing or shower height for alignment.
•
Vertical and horizontal mirrors both give a different effect.
•
For a full height mirror measure up from the basin 150mm -200mm & add sufficient height to accommodate all members of your household,
normally about 900 – 1000mm is sufficient.
Double basins
For double basins use two individual heated mirrors for a contemporary finish, however if you want to increase natural lighting and the perception of
space one long larger mirror is our recommendation.
Style
Choose a mirror from our extensive range to suit your personality, style and existing decor. LED Lighted mirrors, as well as looking brilliant, offer a
practical solution to lighting. LED lights by nature are ecological as they draw very little power. A bevel edge will add a touch of elegance to any room,
glass or timber frames add colour and depth. Frosted edge mirrors give a bathroom a sleek modern finish. Shaped mirrors add character & balance,
especially suited to a pedestal vanity and a bathroom with square lines. For the Villa or for the contemporary bathroom we have a range of modern glass

Choosing the fixing type for your frameless mirror
For flush wall fit > holes & domes, or glue fix
For a minimal finish > hidden fixings or glue fix. Hidden fixings have an air gap so the mirror breaths and will last longer.
For use with demist pad > hidden fixings, holes & domes, or clips (glue not recommended)
Glass and mirror splash backs
As silver is a corrosive metal the mirror should not be used as a splash back, this will void the warranty. Instead a colour glass splashback can be added
for a sleek modern look and easy clean option. These can be fitted just in behind a hidden fixings mirrors which creates clean lines. Alternatively we offer
a mirror with inbuilt coloured splashback.
