President Vladimir
Putin has an army of
thousands of police
and military personnel. Threats of bloodshed have been made
by Islamic militant
groups. US officials have plans to get Americans to safety if something happens. I want
everyone to be safe at the Olympics.

Mao Asada:
Top Figure Skater
American
Bobsled Team
by Marlena
Mao Asada was born in Nagoya Aichi. She
was named after a Japanese actress Mao
Daichi. She took ballet but took figure
skating in 1995. She uses triple toe loops as
her signature jumps. I think she is a great
skater.
by Mathew
America has a bobsled team. 4 men in a 4
men bobsled. They go down a tunnel-like
track. They have American flags on their
suits. They wear a helmet to keep them
safe if they hit their head. They go fast.
Speak to American People
What I want in life is to stop oil spills in oceans
& lakes. It kills mammals in captivity and also
no more littering on peoples’ properties as
well. I want to stop having guns to minor
teenagers and adult children as well. I want to
stop drug smuggling on boats, neighborhoods,
businesses as well and also on more bomb
threats in mail carriers packages as well. I
want this earth to stand and not blown up in
by Rachel
pieces. I want all of the soldiers to come home
in one piece and stop fighting each other even
in Iraq and Israeli army in the Gaza strip and
this is causing the problem in the first place. I
want to stop cancer from children from ST.
JUDE HOSPITAL and CANCER treatment of
America if there is a cure and fight it. What I
don’t like is young pop stars popping pills and
driving with expired tags on the license.

K.U. Basketball
by Jennifer
KU is doing good so far in basketball. I love
watching them on TV, and cheering them
on. Wiggins is my favorite player. This is the
best team in college to cheer for.
Cook in double boiler until thick
Cool slightly
Beat in large cream cheese (8oz)
Add med. onion chopped
½ green pepper chopped
½ jar pimentos
After you mixed everything together put it
in a bowl and put it in the refrigerator.
Medical Bracelets
by Marlena
Medical bracelets
are common in the
U.S. because they
save lives when it
comes to an illness
or allergies that
people have.
Bracelets tell people
that a person has an illness. All people with
illnesses should wear one so people know
what kind of illness they have. I would like
to get one so that people know that I have
seizures.
Basketball Clinic
at K.U.
by Renae
The first KU basketball clinic was held in
January 1984. Upon the death of the great
Wilt Chamberlain, the clinic was named the
Wilt Chamberlain Special Olympics basketball clinic. Only 100 Special Olympians can
attend the clinic each year. In addition to
being part of a team, Special Olympics has
extra cool things athletes can do. The
athletes were divided into groups and
rotated among stations, headed by KU
players.
