maintenance and a history of sustainable growth. We’ve
recently received two of the industry’s highest safety honors:
the American Trucking Associations’ (ATA) President’s Trophy
(twice) and the Truckload Carrier Association’s (TCA) Annual
National Fleet Safety Grand Prize (two consecutive years).
Make no mistake—Roehl is the safe choice to keep you and

Safety & Hiring Process
The Power of Red means you will have
a Life Outside the Truck.
™
Among new drivers and veterans alike, home time is a serious subject.
While the good income is easy to get used to, being away from home is not.
Drivers, after all, are also husbands and wives, fathers and mothers. They have
friends and hobbies and responsibilities around the house like anybody else.
Get your miles and go home
You should know that in the trucking industry, there’s a
relationship between income and home time. In order to
accumulate the miles you need to take home more, with
most companies you have to stay out several weeks at a time.
Roehl combines advanced technology, a strategically structured
customer base and freight flow plan, and driver-friendly
operations to optimize driver productivity. Just like you, we
want your downtime to be spent in your living room, not on
the road.
Outstanding operations support
• Fleet Managers give drivers a familiar point of contact—one
person who knows the details of each trip from beginning to
end, your schedule and your preferences. And when you have
a special request… a special occasion you want to be home
for, Roehl is dedicated to getting you there.
®
• Job-efficiency tools like E-ZPass, PrePass and
®
TRANSFLO Express reduce time idling in lines and keep
you moving.
SM
Exceptional maintenance
Roehl’s superb maintenance program keeps you running and
earning more:
• Regularly scheduled preventative maintenance at
Roehl terminals makes breakdowns rare.
• 24-hour emergency service gets you going fast in the
unlikely case you have trouble on the road. One call and
Roehl maintenance experts handle it from
there. Roehl sends the nearest available
service regardless of brand or service
network affiliations.
Program gives you the opportunity to bring your spouse or
child (over age 10) with you on the road.
A home time plan that fits your needs
Different people, at different stages of life, have different home
time needs. At Roehl, we work hard to get you the home time
that balances your needs while still maximizing your earning
potential. We take home time seriously. But don’t take our
word for it; ask our drivers.
Watching out for your whole family
Roehl is a family-oriented company; that’s why we are proud
of our Life Outside the Truck™ philosophy. It means we’re
dedicated not only to supporting the driver, but the driver’s
family as well.
We’re there as a resource for the driver’s spouse and loved
ones. If they ever have to get a message to you, we make it
happen right now. If they have questions about benefits, payroll
or just about anything else that has to do with managing a
household with one partner away on the road, we’re ready to
help.
Features like TRANSFLO Express® and direct deposit help
your family manage its finances by getting your paycheck in
the bank quickly, even if you’re on the road. Roehl’s electronic
pay statements mean you don’t have to wait for the mail to
know how much was deposited. You can contact the Payroll
Department and view up-to-date payroll info 24 hours a day by
visiting www.TeamRoehl.com.
And when you’re on the road, Roehl’s
state-of-the-art DriverLink satellite and
DriverLink communication systems,
give us the ability to reach you if family
emergencies arise.
Home on the road
Over-the-road driving for Roehl can be
a rewarding and positive career for your
whole family… and Roehl believes you
deserve a LOT — Life Outside the Truck.
Sometimes quality time can mean taking
family on the road with you. Roehl’s Rider

We will train you to succeed.
Safety & Hiring Process
The industry’s top on-the-job training program
Earning your CDL was just the first step to becoming a professional driver.
Now, how well the company you join trains you over the next few weeks will
have an impact on your entire career. Drivers who have been through Roehl’s
Driver Safety and Job Skills Training Program are respected throughout the
industry as among the best-trained truck drivers on the road… and shipper
satisfaction surveys, performance data and safety statistics back up that
reputation.
The principles of success
Designed around easy-to-learn principles with lots of hands-on skill
development, Roehl’s Safety and Job Skills Training Program will teach
you DOT motor carrier rules, trip planning, freight handling and company
policies, all under the umbrella of our industry-leading protective driving
safety program—The Roehl Way.™
Our Safety and Job Skills Training Program is a three phase program. Phase
1 On-Site Training will be at a Roehl designated training facility. Phase 2
Over-The-Road training is performance based, one-on-one with a certified
OTR professional. Upon successful completion of all components of both
Phase 1 and Phase 2, you will progress to Phase 3 and be assigned your own
tractor. You’ll also be working with a Fleet Coach who is just a phone call or
satellite message away helping you continue moving ahead in your career.
Qualification day and the start of Safety and
Job Skills Training
On qualification day you will complete a drug screen and an on-site
pre-work screening to determine you can safely perform essential job
functions. Safety and Job Skills Training Phase 1 curriculum will begin
following qualification day. You will move into Phase 2 Over-The-Road
training immediately upon your successful completion of Phase 1.
Roehl is committed to driver success
While the preceding pages focus on the major concerns of new drivers as
they decide which company to join, it’s also important not to overlook the
smaller things. In the end, it’s a thousand little things the company does
or doesn’t do to support its drivers every day that makes the job easier or
harder, rewarding or frustrating, a temporary situation or a lifetime career.
When you’re on the road with Roehl, you’re backed by a team of
experts and the resources of one of the most progressive carriers in
the industry… people in every department who always try to look at our
operation from the perspective of a driver… an organization 100 percent
committed to your success.
Part of a winning team
Roehl has led the industry in the adoption of advanced operational
technologies and practices, and our management practices have earned
the top honors in HR from the American Trucking Associations along with
numerous other operational and safety accolades.
Invest in your career
Careers Unlimited is our program to communicate the many career
opportunities available to you as part of TeamRoehl. At Roehl we’re unique
relative to many truckload operations because we have so many options that
allow you to choose a career path that fits your aspirations, whether those
are driven by your work and non-work time balance, your desire to learn new
skills and take on new challenges, or the need to make more money. We have
a practice of filling most positions by promoting from within the company.
Drivers can advance to driver trainers, orientation instructors, driving school
instructors, maintenance technicians, fleet managers and other management
positions. Many drivers choose the unique advantages of Roehl’s dedicated fleets
while others become business owners through Roehl’s owner operator program.
Opportunities for input
At Roehl we have an open-door policy right up to senior management. We will
listen to your ideas and concerns.
Industry recognition and respect
Roehl is recognized by shippers and other drivers as a leader in the trucking
industry and Roehl drivers are known as true professionals. By and large,
the opinion on the road is that driving for Roehl is a top spot, but the honesty
we promised at the beginning of this book compels us to add that not every
driver feels that way.
Those who think otherwise usually do not dispute the advantages we offer, but
would say that Roehl’s operation and standards are a “little too structured”
for their style…we don’t fudge on hours…we keep accurate log books. We
don’t purposely haul overweight. We play by the rules and still provide drivers
better income, home time, safety, training and day-to-day support—we’re the
kind of company a driver can trust.
Learn the Roehl Way—Roehl’s Safety and Job Skills Training Program
Our three phase program will provide you training to be a safe, prepared and confident professional truck driver.
Phase 1
Phase 2
Phase 3
You’ll learn The Roehl Way of Protective Driving
along with the policies and procedures that lead
to driver success with Roehl. During Phase 1 your
training will be a combination of road driving,
closed quarters maneuvering, and classroom
curriculum including logging, trip planning, and
satellite communication training.
You’ll be on the road with a Trainer, where you’ll
put the principles learned in Phase 1 to work. This
phase of training is performance based and can
last up to 13 days. You’ll earn $90 per day when
you are with a Trainer.
Now you’re on full mileage pay. You’re
on your own in your own truck—but
you’re not alone. At the end of the phone and
your satellite system is a specially trained Fleet
Coach who will work closely with you for the next 4–6 weeks
to help you continue to develop your skills. Upon completion of
Phase 1, Phase 2 and Phase 3, you’ll be well on your way to
experiencing the Power of Red.

Enjoy some of the best home time in the nation.
Roehl HOMEtime™ Fleets:
• 14/7 Fleets
National Fleets
Roehl operates National Van, Flatbed and Refrigerated Fleets throughout
the lower 48 states. Our national fleets offer high mileage goals as well as
our industry-leading home time. When you drive for a national fleet, you can
expect the following home time:
• If you are out 10 days, you’re home 2 days.
• If you are out 11–17 days, you’re home 3 days.
• Stay out longer and earn up to 7 days off.
Regional Fleets
Depending on where you live, you may be eligible to join one of our regional
van or regional flatbed fleets. Many drivers prefer Roehl regional fleets
because in addition to the excellent earning potential available with the
Your Choice Pay Plan™, they offer a geographic operating area and frequent
home time. As a regional fleet driver, you’ll typically be home 24 to 48 hours
weekly (during a seven day period). As you gain experience with Roehl,
additional regional fleet options may be available.
Roehl’s 14/7 Fleets are unique options that combine the mileage goals of a
7/4-7/3 Fleet (between 95,000 and 105,000 per year) with the extended home
time of a 7/7 Fleet. You’ll drive fourteen days and then be home seven days.
Space in our 14/7 Fleets is available in limited areas, and you must be fully
rested prior to dispatch.
Dedicated Fleets
Roehl provides dedicated fleet services to a number of customers. Each
dedicated fleet has a defined hiring area, and each dedicated fleet has its
own particular pay package and home time. The benefits of our dedicated
fleets vary. Some drivers appreciate a consistent operating area, serving
the same customer while others enjoy the home time and predictability of a
dedicated fleet. To learn more about Roehl dedicated fleets, contact a Roehl
Recruiter at 800-535-8180.
Current fleet options and hiring areas are available by calling a Roehl
Recruiter at 800-535-8180 or by visiting www.GoRoehl.com and using the
Find-A-Fleet tool. Updated on a frequent basis, the Find-A-Fleet tool will
show you all the fleet options available in your zip code.
HOMEtime PLUS™ Fleets
If you want even more consistent and predictable home time, consider one of
Roehl’s popular HOMEtime PLUS Fleets, which offer a balance of miles and
extended home time.
• 7-On/7-Off Fleets
Exclusively from Roehl, our 7-On/7-Off Fleet drivers drive seven days and
then they are home for seven days at a time. If you choose a 7-On/7-Off
Fleet, you’ll have 26 weeks a year off. You must be fully rested prior to
dispatch. Space in the 7-On/7-Off Fleets may be limited in some areas of
the country.
• 7/4–7/3 Fleets
Getting more miles is a key feature of our 7/4-7/3 Fleets. When you join a
7/4-7/3 Fleet, you’ll drive seven days, then be home four days, then you’ll
drive seven days followed by three days of home time. That’s an average of
120 days off and mileage goals between 95,000 and 105,000 per year. You
must be fully rested prior to dispatch, and space in the 7/4–7/3 Fleets may
be limited in some areas of the country.
When it comes to great home time and fleet options, Roehl offers new and experienced drivers real choices.
You can select the fleet that works best for you. The following list of fleets may be available and is subject to
change. You can learn more about all the current fleet options and hiring areas that are available by calling a
Roehl Recruiter at 800-535-8180 or by visiting www.GoRoehl.com and using the Find-A-Fleet tool.

Safety & Hiring Process
While many trucking
companies struggle
during changing
economic cycles,
Roehl is a proven
performance leader
with a diverse
business portfolio
and over five
decades of growth.
Roehl is one of the
100 largest trucking
companies in the
nation with over
1,900 tractors and
5,200 trailers. Our
customers include
some of the most
prestigious brand
names in America.
We have the financial strength to offer drivers
A Total Compensation Plan.
Your Choice Pay Plan™
Bonuses
Roehl’s unique performance based Your Choice
Pay Plan™ allows you to achieve higher levels of
pay through higher levels of performance. Instead
of being restricted to an annual increase, you
can “choose” the next higher pay level by being a
high performer. You can earn a pay increase every
quarter up to our top rate.
Almost every company mentions bonuses as part of
their pay plan, but if the bonus qualifications are
unrealistic (as many are) you’d better not count on
them. And to make matters worse, most companies
make a driver wait until the end of a quarter or even
the year to receive them.
Practical Mileage Pay (PMP)
Unlike most carriers that use the standard
industry practice of HHG or “short route” mileage
pay, Roehl offers Practical Mileage pay. At Roehl
we know the shortest route is not always optimized
for tractor and trailer traffic, and at times, it’s not
necessarily the most efficient. Roehl’s PMP can
add thousands of dollars to your annual income
compared to other companies’ HHG pay because
with Roehl you’re paid for more of the miles
you’ve driven.
Mileage pay
Roehl’s Your Choice Pay Plan™ rates are only a
portion of the compensation equation. We also work
hard to keep drivers moving so you can maximize
your earning potential. It is our goal to provide
drivers 2,300 to 2,600 miles per week. It is that
balance that turns into a top income.
Multiple pay options
Based on what works best for you and your
individual needs, you can select Roehl’s Tax
Advantage option. It’s an innovative concept that
may allow you to reduce your taxable income. By
classifying part of your mileage rate as an expense
reimbursement rather than income, you end up
with a bigger net paycheck. Simply put, that means
you pay less weekly taxes and take home more
weekly net pay.
page 5
When you experience the power of red , we
recognize you for driving safe, and we reward you as
you go. No more waiting for a bonus – you’ll get paid
as you drive those miles!
Profit sharing
Roehl also adds to drivers’ financial well-being with
one of the most generous profit sharing plans in the
industry—up to $2,000 per driver in recent years.
Hire bonus
Upon successful completion of Safety and Job Skills
Training Phase 1, meeting Roehl’s qualifications and
becoming a hire, you will be paid a $600 hire bonus.
Earn even more
We have still more ways drivers can add to their
incomes—like becoming a Driver Trainer (where
you can add as much as $10,000 to your income)
or referring other drivers to Roehl.
Roehl pays drivers for services many other
companies overlook—like all intermediate pickups
and drops, tarping pay for flatbed drivers, premiums
if you go to NYC or Canada, and extra when you
haul a hazmat load.
Whether it is hand loading/unloading, driving
through designated areas, crossing borders or
customer delays, you’ll earn extra pay for other work
performed with Roehl.
Take home more —
over and above mileage pay.

Roehl referral rewards program
Tuition reimbursement
Roehl pays you a cash finders fee when an
experienced driver you referred joins and
stays with the company. Plus, each referral
gives you the opportunity to win prizes and
more cash. There is no limit to the number of
drivers you can refer and the referral rewards
you can collect. We’ve had drivers earn as
much as $4,000 a year.
It’s like getting someone to help pay for your
CDL driving school training! If you paid
cash or took out a loan for your tuition, and
Roehl is your first-choice carrier, Roehl will
repay you for what you spent on tuition—up
to $6,000.
Driver trainer program
Roehl’s on-the-job driver training program
offers trainers the satisfaction of helping a
person new to the job get started right. Being a
trainer is your chance to pass along what you’ve
learned and help teach a driver who will be a
credit to you, Roehl and the industry.
And Roehl will reward you for your
contribution. Each day you train a student
on the road, you’ll earn your full mileage rate
plus you’ll be paid a daily training rate.
TM
You’ll receive a $100 reimbursement for
every 9,000 paid solo miles you drive plus
an additional $250 upon 25,000 paid solo
miles and $250 at 50,000 paid solo miles.
For most new drivers, that adds up to
more than $1,500 their first year. Tuition
reimbursement monies are considered
taxable earnings. To assist you while on the
road, Roehl will send your loan payment
directly to your lender or school.

Safety is our cornerstone value.
Safety & Hiring Process
The industry’s leading Safety Program.
When choosing a company to drive for, safety is an
important consideration. Many companies say safety
is their top priority—that’s a problem. Why? Because
priorities change. We don’t believe that the importance
of safety should ever change. We hold safety as a
value—a deeply held belief beyond compromise.
That’s why with us, safety is always first.
implementation of CSA makes it crucial to a driver’s livelihood.
Drivers need to work with a company that will not make or
expect them to run illegal; a company that has a focus on safety;
a company that maintains its equipment so well that roadside
inspections are not an issue. The FMCSA has specifically stated
the mission of CSA is to eliminate those carriers with poor
compliance and safety records, and that they (FMCSA) want
unsafe drivers off the road.
Safety is not just your responsibility
It is not enough that you’re safety-conscious. It takes the
commitment and support of the entire company to keep drivers
safe on the road. You need to know: that safety is the first
consideration in the equipment you’re provided and the policies
and operations that shape your day; that you have the final
word on road conditions, no questions by Fleet Management or
customer service; that no one will compromise safety even a little
bit in the name of saving money, time efficiency or any other
business objective.
Roehl believes this is a good thing; in fact, it matches up with
what we’re about at Roehl—We’re Driven to Protect Others.
Roehl is a strong organization built on a solid foundation of
values. Our drivers will succeed under CSA by continuing to do
things The Roehl Way.
At Roehl, safety is our cornerstone value—the first and foremost
consideration in every thing we do, no matter what. That’s why
we’ve gone well beyond “off-the-shelf” defensive driving programs
and developed the concept of “protective driving.” Roehl drivers
don’t just try to avoid accidents; they drive to actively protect
others, making the road safer for everyone.
The Roehl Way Protective Driving Program™ is the most
advanced safe driving program in the industry and has resulted
in a dramatic reduction in accident rates. Roehl has over 100
drivers with one-, two-, three-, or four-million mile safety
awards.
Anyone who knows trucking will tell you the Federal Motor
Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) program known as CSA
(Compliance, Safety, Accountability) has changed the way the
FMCSA selects motor carriers and drivers for increased review,
fines and other enforcement actions.
It’s always been important that drivers select a company where
following the regulations are both emphasized and enforced. The
The values we as a company, and each of us
as individual members of TeamRoehl, hold dear.
Roehl is recognized as
the nation’s safest
