ASYLUM CENTER IN BANJA KOVILJAČA
• With the entry into force of the Law on Asylum, Serbia has pledged to take
care of the future asylum seekers, on the road of the Republic of Serbia to
full membership in the EU
• The Serbian government decided to establish the Asylum Center in Banja
Koviljaca on the 6th of December 2008.
• Funding for the Asylum Center is provided from the budget of the Republic
of Serbia

• Until a final decision on an asylum application, asylum seekers are provided
with accommodation and basic living conditions in the Asylum Center
• Asylum Centre is part of the Commissariat for Refugees and Migration, as a
separate organization, in accordance with the provisions of the Public
Administration and Civil Service Act

Accommodation of asylum seekers is carried out with
respect for the principle of non-discrimination, family
unity, gender equality
and care for persons with special needs

ACCOMMODATION
Accommodation in the Centre is n accordance with the
Asylum Act (Official Gazette of the Republic of Serbia
no. 109/2007) and Regulations on housing conditions
and provision of basic living conditions in the Asylum
Center (Official Gazette of the Republic. Serbia no.
31/2008 )

nations, religions, gender, age, political beliefs, cultural habits
and character. To stay together with such diversity requires a lot

During the period between 1991. and 2006. the current Asylum Center was used to house refugees
