EDITOR’S COMMENT
nottingham
Hello and welcome to our Autumn
calendar. We hope you will find plenty of
opportunities to get involved and ways
to enjoy spending time with each other
and feel a part of our Click community.
We have been delighted to see
the development of some really
close supportive groups within our
membership and we wanted to start
sharing their stories with you, so in
each edition we will be shining a
spotlight on a group who really
makes the Click foundations of
Being Together, Taking Part and
Living Well come to life.

We have been listening carefully to your
feedback on our last social calendar and
we will take in what you have to say
about this one. If you have suggestions
or feedback, please talk to our
Community Pioneer for your area.
We have sent out a Member Survey
recently which will help us collect
feedback on your experience of Click,
if you haven’t already – please take a
few moments to fill it in for us. It will
help us review and develop our service.
Thank you.
Take care of yourselves, and each other.
Bye for now!
To have close friends and feel part of
something is just as important to our
health and wellbeing as healthy food
and exercise. This is what Click is all
about and everything we do supports
connection, friendship and participation.
A few of our members have shared their
own stories about the difference Click
has made to them personally. It is so
wonderful to see strong friendships
grow within our membership.

YOUR STORIES
Every day we hear positive feedback and stories from members
who say being part of Click has made a positive difference to their lives.
Members have kindly agreed to share their stories with us.
If you’d like to share your story, we’d love you to get in touch!
The Click members in Clifton have established a very close caring friendship
group. Over time the group has come to depend on each other in times of
need and they embrace the whole Click ethos of caring about each other.
FOUNDATIONS
AND VALUES
“It’s a brilliant group – we just hit it off. We now call
each other up and it feels like we are a big family.”
Our Values
Being Together:
Click happens when people
get together, make connections
and feel part of something
Our values describe the spirit in which we
go about bringing the Foundations to life.

well-being and improving our
feeling of satisfaction in life
Kindness – generosity in attitude and
action towards ourselves and others
Consideration – care and interest for
different people’s experiences and points
of view
Co-operation – being together in harmony,
working together to make things better
Involvement – making connections happen,
being part of something, growing Click
Celebration – aiming towards enjoyment,
well-being and valuing each other

#Being
Together
“The great thing about Click is that the majority of
us, although we all live in the Clifton area, had never
come across each other. Click brought us together
and gave us opportunities to spend time with each
other and we all just ‘clicked’. The friendships we
have made are terrific. It’s a lovely feeling knowing
that I have friends who I can count on.”
Our Foundations
Taking Part:
Click comes to life through the
participation of members and
staff in making things happen

I feel happy in this group.”
Carole is often
busy running Click
events. She hosts
the Headstocks
Coffee and Catch
Up in Bulwell and
has just set up a
new Pub Games
event there.
She also helps
out with a variety
of other events
and trips.
“I love caring for people, and
I know that with limited staff and lots
of members to cater for, that I can
do what I do best and help others,
whether it’s hosting a coffee morning
and making members feel welcome,
or hosting an event and making sure
everyone has a great time, or just
giving someone emotional support

“Click has
given me my
fight back
and opened
up a whole
new way of
life for me.
Volunteering
has made
a real
difference to
me. I love to
meet people, to listen to them and
offer them a shoulder when needed.
But most of all, it’s important for me
to be able to give Click back some
of the kindness they have given to
me. Because of Click I now have new
friends and my physical and mental
health has improved. I’ve even been
able to come off some of my tablets.”
“Click means I can wake
with a smile on my face
and a spring in my step.”
6
“Being a member of Click has
made such a difference to my
life, it has put me back on a level
where I am meeting people to
share new experiences with.”
His sociable nature has made making
new friends and trying new things
not only joyful for himself but also
others around him. He’s become quite
an ‘encourager’ offering to give lifts
to other members who do not have
transport and has volunteered to
help the team at events. We’ve seen
Howard’s confidence grow and he
has quickly become a very popular
and kind-hearted member of the Click
movement. New friendships, social
activities and learning experiences
have given Howard a new-found
sense of purpose. His mental health
has improved and his smile is back!

MY VISION FOR THE AREA
MY VISION FOR THE AREA
I would really like to find a venue for members in the Bestwood, Rise Park
and Top Valley area. Due to a lack of venues in these areas it is proving
quite a challenge! If you have any suggestions, please let me know.
WHAT’S COMING UP
We’d love to see some new faces at
Basford’s Coffee & Catch Up at
The Willow Tree. We meet twice
a month on a Monday at 11am.
Please join me for a game of
Bingo in Top Valley on 17th October.
TELL ME YOUR IDEAS
We have been chatting at the
Sherwood Coffee & Catch Up
about arranging a lunch and
sorting out a trip.
We’d like your suggestions for
a lunch venue in the Sherwood area,
so get your thinking caps on….
remember this is YOUR membership
so getting your ideas and input into
what we do is very important to us.

WHAT’S HAPPENING LOCALLY
We are developing a regular group at
Bulwell Forest Community Garden.
It’s a great place with a lovely relaxed
atmosphere and you can do as much or
as little as you wish. Come & give it a go.
Our host Carole has set up a new games
event at Headstocks. For dates speak to
her direct or check Facebook.
SHARING GOOD STUFF
Three of our members from the
Sherwood C&C group Josie, Shirley
and new-found friend Joyce have all
booked their own trip to Skegness
using the Click Skills 10% discount.
They invited anyone from the group
to come along and hope it will be first
of many new adventures together!
We are looking for a couple of social hosts who would be willing to help
the Limekiln and Willow Tree Coffee & Catch Ups run smoothly. If you are
interested in volunteering with us, and think you’d make a good social host,
please come and have a chat with me or call Emma on 0115 9787846

its geography, history, buildings, spaces and diversity of people and cultures.
I would like members from all areas to come along to events and add to
the vibrancy and confidence of the area. Let’s get active, get connected
and get committed!
WHAT’S COMING UP
I am looking to trial a group at
the Chase Community Centre.
It is close to the Valley Library
and they run regular events
such as a clothes exchange for
the local community.
We are also looking at running
City Centre events which are a
bus ride away for everyone.
SHARING GOOD STUFF
Our monthly meets at Stonebridge
Farm and GB Café have been
running well, with lots of photo
opportunities, good food and the
usual meandering conversations!
WHAT’S HAPPENING LOCALLY
We run a small invitation-only group

The local history projects also run
events that are worth looking into.

MY VISION FOR THE AREA
I would like a Coffee & Catch Up, a regular lunch venue and some sort of
community activity in every area. The Click Clifton community is thriving,
largely due to the great work of Shirley and her team of friends and members
and our links with Summerwood Community Garden. I have high hopes to
establish a larger Click presence in The Meadows as member numbers increase.
Our Caribbean lunch at the Queens Walk Community Centre Café
is a good first step and it’s easily accessible by tram so come and join us!

Being Together. Taking Part. Living Well:
Clicks’ foundations encapsulate the
benefits of being more socially active
and responsible for our own health.
I often hear how becoming a Click
member has improved people’s outlook
on life, providing a positive frame of
mind through developing connections.
Some of the most dramatic member
stories come from those who have
decided to take a lead in helping run
Click by hosting events or supporting
others. Finding a new sense of
purpose is a powerful catalyst to
overall wellbeing.
Our ethos has always been centred
around helping others in your
community. Doing ‘good deeds’
makes us feel good and also open
doors to opportunities that would
have otherwise passed us by.

The visit will include a short intro, a tour of the core store facility (think the last shot
of the Raiders of the Lost Ark film) and finally a demo of the 3D Visualisation Suite,
finishing with a self-tour of our geological walk. The tour normally takes around
two hours.

Calke Abbey is a Grade I listed country house in Derbyshire which is now in the
care of the National Trust. The site was an Augustinian priory from the 12th century
until its dissolution by Henry VIII. The house was owned by the same family for
300 years and was passed to the trust in 1985. The house’s many rooms are
deliberately displayed in the exact state in which the house was handed to the Trust,
almost as if the owners have just left the room. The house is set in beautiful grounds
with some lovely walks. There’s also a church, shop and restaurant.

Cancellation & refund policy
We have a cancellation policy to make
sure we can cover our administration
costs and don’t run events at a loss.
If you cancel a day trip with more than
14 working days’ notice, then we will
offer you a 50% refund. If you cancel
within 14 days of a trip we cannot offer
any refund. For pre-paid tickets we
cannot offer a refund for any ticket or
tour that we have already paid for, but
we will do what we can to help you sell
your ticket to another member.
