125 KHz - Buyers Guide
R32 (R cubed 2) Specifications and Data Sheet
125 KHz
This 2nd generation of products debuted in 1997, based on the same rugged proven
technology as that of our R 3 (R cubed) 148 KHz family which first debuted in 1984.
R cubed stands for Rapid, Robust and Reliable.
➢ References speak volumes, sees ours at www.rfidinc.com
➢ Plug and Play – No Software Drivers – No Middleware
➢ Need Customization? – Can Do
➢ U.S. owned and operated, 99% of parts Made in the USA
➢ DeviceNet, Ethernet/IP, Profibus, Modbus, Discrete I/O, TTL, Serial, TCPIP Ethernet, Wiegand, USB
The R32 products primarily serve applications of:
• Tote/Pallet/Carrier ID of Widgets thru Processes
• Wafer Identification thru Manufacturing
• Mold/Tool Identification
• Automated Guided Vehicles
• Paint Chambers/Bake Ovens, Appliances, Automotive
• Gas Cylinder Identification
• Laundry/Apparel Identification
• Customer Loyalty Programs
• Authentication/Verification
• Products or Pallets in ASRS Systems
• Employee ID, Access Control
• ID Prescriptions in Automated Pharmaceutical Systems
• Stacker/Reclaimer Systems in Mining
• Identify/Track Rental Items
Certainly not limited to these applications, the R32 products excel at any industrial ID project requiring tough, 100% dependable systems.

1. Smart Antennas – Basic Overview
125 KHz
combine the traditional Reader and Antenna components into a single small housing (see additional Smart
Antenna housing options and ranges on following pages). Smart Antennas are available in:
Smart Antennas
RS232 versions
wiring)
Network-able versions
(also configurable to drive a relay)
(M12 connector shown, also available in twisted pair pigtail
Notes: Available in both 5vdc and 24vdc. Recommended and preferred is 24vdc for networking as power requirement is more forgiving in
long cable runs (4.75vdc is all that is needed at each Smart Antenna for successful operation). 5vdc supplies tend to drop
off sharply over even short distances, although 5vdc will provide 5% to 30% more read range. Ask to see a 5vdc read range chart.
Regulated power supplies must be employed. Not available with Read Only 10 hex character Tag options. See Tag options on page 5.

➢ Discrete I/O – Model 8020E
➢ Modbus – Model 8080E
Smart Antennas consume no more than 150mA running on 5vdc or 24vdc. Interface consumes no more than 200mA running also on 5vdc
or 24vdc. Note: the Smart Antennas must operate on regulated power supplies.

Wireless RFDC Interface Products
Although 2-way communication is possible, TR stands for Transmitter and Receiver, and is designed to be interfaced to any of our serial
Readers or network of Readers. BSR stands for Base Station Receiver and is intended to be interfaced to a COM port on your controller/PC.
Designed to operate with MAC addresses with a distance of one mile non-line of sight and four miles line of sight, this product can save
substantial wiring costs. A single BSR can manage thousands of TR’s.

Model 7000E Series Reader Writer
Used by itself as a simple Serial peripheral, this Reader outputs standard RS232 or RS485. With an externally cabled Antenna, the Model
7000E can attain 25% to 50% more read range than our Smart Antennas. Advantage to the Model 7000E Reader versus Smart Antennas is
the increased read range, see below chart. Disadvantage is lack of Tag speed, networking, minimum Antenna spacing requirements (due to
interference) between Antennas and lack of industrial communication protocols. Smart Antennas overcome these disadvantages, at the loss
of read range. Why? The entire Antenna housing for the Model 7000E contains a coil, whereas with Smart Antennas the Reader circuitry
is integrated into the Antenna package, minimizing space for the Antenna coil.
