ABOUT US
Mad Hatter Sports Events was started in July 2014 by three
keen athletes who have competed in events in the UK and
in Europe. We felt that a large number of the events that we
attended didn’t provide value for money and really didn’t
leave us wanting more, we wanted quality, fun, atmosphere
and a challenge and whilst some had all of these most
missed out on one or more of these factors.
So in 2014 we decided to form our own events company as
we believed that we could organise events that met all of
those factors and a few more that we have discovered along
the way, so in July 2014 Mad Hatter Sports Events was born.
When the company was founded we wanted to prove
to people (participants and sponsors) that we could put
on an event that met our key factors so we approached
Pentewan Sands in Cornwall to see if we could put on a swim
at their beach side holiday park and we put a date in the
diary which was two months from our date of conception,
nothing like jumping in at the deep end if you will pardon
the pun. Anyway, after a huge amount of work and planning

we held the Pentewan 2k Swim on the 28th September.
We had 62 participants which was brilliant considering we
had to compete with a number of other large events that
were rescheduled to conflict with our date within the same
catchment area.

FISTRAL/NEWQUAY BAY HOP - A UNIQUE EVENT TO CORNWALL
The Fistral/Newquay Bay Hop event will take place on the
morning of Saturday 22nd August 2015. There will be a
youth and an adult version of the race which is a multiple
run-sea swim event - a first for Newquay and Cornwall.
The event is a unique type of racing offering competitors
the opportunity to run and swim (multiple times) around
the beautiful Newquay coastline. It’s the multiple run/
swim sections that make this event unique as well as the
challenge to competitors to come up with a solution for
what to run/swim in and what to do with their footwear.
Mad Hatter Sports Events will be working closely with
Newquay Surf Life Saving Club, Velotive, Newquay BID,
RNLI and local pier heads to assure this event runs as
smooth as possible for the town and is a huge success
with a view to bringing the World Surf Life Saving
championships to Newquay in 2016. We need to show
we can handle a large event and this will give us the
opportunity to show the governing bodies that we can!
We have devised a course which we hope will be
challengling, enjoyable but with competitor and spectator
safety first and foremost.

As prizes are awarded on the day of the race each prize
sponsor will be announced over the PA system.
We require prizes for the Fistral Bay Hop junior event for
the following age catergories: First boy and girl in each age
group: 8yrs, 9yrs, 10yrs, 11yrs, 12yrs, 13yrs, 14yrs, 15yrs, and
16yrs. Plus an overall prize for the first boy and girl in the
following age categories: 8-10yrs, 11-13yrs and 14-16yrs.

If a sponsor would like to erect a gazebo within the event
village to promote their products/business this will be
