Mark Hyman, MD—He is an internationally recognized leader in addressing the root causes
of chronic illness. He is the bestselling author of The Blood Sugar Solution, UltraMetabolism,

as the chairman of the Institute for Functional Medicine, and is on the board of directors of The
Center for Mind-Body Medicine, where he is also a faculty member.
Jeffrey Bland, PhD, FACS, CN—He is internationally respected for his work in nutritional
biochemistry and functional medicine, and has authored more than 150 papers and five
books on nutrition and its relationship to health and disease. He is a former senior research
scientist and director at the Linus Pauling Institute of Science and Medicine, a co-founder of
Bastyr University, and the founder of the Institute for Functional Medicine. He served as the
chief science officer at Metagenics for more than a decade, and is currently on the Board of
Directors. Dr. Bland recently founded the Personalized Lifestyle Medicine Institute, where he
serves as president.
Christiane Northrup, MD—She is a board certified OB/GYN and the author of two New York
Times bestselling books, Women’s Bodies, Women’s Wisdom, and The Wisdom of Menopause.
She has also hosted seven public television specials and has been featured on The Oprah
Winfrey Show, the TODAY show, NBC Nightly News, The View, the Rachael Ray Show, Good

Mark C. Houston, MD—He has presented over 10,000 lectures internationally, published
six bestselling books and over 200 articles and scientific abstracts, and completed over 80
clinical studies in hypertension, hyperlipidemia, and cardiovascular disease. He is an associate
clinical professor of medicine at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine; director of the
Hypertension Institute and Vascular Biology; and medical director of the Division of Human
Nutrition at Saint Thomas Medical Group, Saint Thomas Hospital in Nashville, TN.
Jeffrey Morrison, MD—He is board certified in family
practice and has completed additional training in
Environmental Medicine. He is the Vice President of the
American College for the Advancement in Medicine (ACAM)
and a member of the American Academy of Environmental
Medicine (AAEM). Dr. Morrison is the author of Cleanse Your
Body, Clear Your Mind. He has also made many television
appearances—including on The Dr. Oz Show and The View—
and has lectured throughout the country.
Edward M. Phillips, MD—He is an Assistant Professor at
Harvard Medical School, and an adjunct scientist at the
USDA-Jean Mayer Human Nutrition Research Center on
Aging at Tufts University. He’s a member of ACSM’s Exercise
is Medicine task force, and the founder, and director of the
Institute of Lifestyle Medicine (ILM). Dr. Phillip has appeared
in national media, including Good Morning America, ESPN
radio, and Time magazine.
Wendy Warner, MD—She is board certified in obstetrics
and gynecology, as well as in holistic medicine. She runs
a successful private practice and serves on the medical
advisory board for The Dr. Oz Show, where she has
made appearances to discuss integrative approaches to
women’s health issues—including hormonal imbalance,
menopause, and central adiposity. She is also a member
of the teaching faculty for the American Board of
Integrative Holistic Medicine.
Jim LaValle, RPh, CCN, ND—He is a nationally recognized
clinical pharmacist, author, board certified clinical
nutritionist, naturopathic doctor, and founder of LaValle
Metabolic Institute, an interdisciplinary medicine facility
in Cincinnati where he has served thousands of patients
using his metabolic model for health. He is the author of
16 e-books and 17 books, including Cracking the Metabolic
Code, Smart Medicine for Healthier Living, Nutritional Cost of
Drugs, The Cox-2 Connection, and the soon-to-be-released
book Your Blood Doesn’t Lie.
Robert Bonakdar, MD—He is a member of the Division
of Integrative Medicine at Scripps Health in San Diego,
CA. He is board certified in family practice and a member
of numerous professional organizations, including the
American Academy of Family Physicians, the California
Academy of Family Physicians, the American Holistic
Medical Association, and the American Academy of Medical
Acupuncture. He has conducted award-winning research and
presented at numerous conferences in the area of herbal
and natural medicines.
Wendy Rashidi, MD, FAAFP, FABHM—She is board
certified by the American Academy of Family Physicians and
the American Board of Holistic Medicine, and also has a
masters degree in clinical nutrition. Dr. Rashidi is the founder
and director of Women’s View Medical Group, an integrative
family and women’s health center in Upland, CA. In addition
to her professional speaking engagements, she is an
assistant clinical professor of family medicine at Western
University of the Health Sciences.
Kristi Hughes, ND—She is the associate director of medical
education for the Institute for Functional Medicine and codeveloper of the Metagenics FirstLine Therapy® Certification
Program, which helps doctors implement personalized
lifestyle therapies in clinical practice. She is also the founder
of the Center of Natural Healing Arts, providing various
modalities of natural health care.
Robert Rakowski, DC, CCN—He is the clinic director of
the Natural Medicine Center in Houston, Texas. He has
lectured internationally to healthcare professionals on
various health topics for over 13 years, and has appeared
on numerous television and radio programs as an expert
in natural medicine. His clinical experience ranges from
treating professional athletes to those with chronic
conditions.
Bridget Briggs, MD—She is a board-certified family
practitioner who specializes in integrative medicine in
her private practice in Southern California. She received
certification through the Scripps Institute for Integrative
Medicine and frequently lectures with other industry thought
leaders on the clinical application of lifestyle medicine
programs to manage cardiovascular concerns and other
chronic diseases.
Robert Silverman, DC—He is a nationally known speaker
and author, and has been featured in radio and his own local
TV show. Dr. Silverman has a successful private practice in
White Plains, NY, where he specializes in joint pain. He is also
a Certified Nutrition Specialist, Certified Clinical Nutritionist,
a Certified Sports Nutritionist, and has been designated as
a Diplomate of both the American Clinical Board of Nutrition
and the Chiropractic Board of Clinical Nutrition.
Delilah A. Anderson, DC, MS—She is a board certified
chiropractic internist and a board certified clinical
nutritionist. Dr. Anderson specializes in prevention of
cardiovascular disease, hypertension, stroke, type 2
diabetes, and metabolic syndrome utilizing nutrition and
lifestyle interventions. She is a consultant with the Fox
Valley Cardiology Consultants managing patients who have
already experienced a cardiovascular event. She is also a
former president of Diplomate of the American Board of
Chiropractic Internists.
Shilpa Saxena, MD—She is a board certified family practice
physician. In addition to having over 15 years of experience
in progressive patient care and a successful functional
medicine practice, Dr. Saxena is an expert in the group
visit medical model. She is a fellow and guest faculty of
the Arizona Center of Integrative Medicine, faculty with the
Institute for Functional Medicine, and a volunteer assistant
professor of family medicine and community health at the
University of Miami Miller School of Medicine.
James Levine, MD, PhD—He is a professor of medicine,
physiology, and bioengineering at the Mayo Clinic, where
he also holds the Richard Emslander Chair in Nutrition
and Metabolism. He has authored 10 dozen scientific
papers, federal expert opinions, and Move a Little Lose a
Lot. Professor Levine has received over 50 national and
international awards in science, including the Judson Daland
prize from the American Philosophical Society. His treadmill
desk won the Invention of the Future award from NASA and
the Innovation of the Year award at the World Trade Fair.
