Adoption Brings Families Together
A
doption is an amazing thing here at the Humane Society of the
Tennessee Valley (HSTV). We were recently inspired by three unique
families brought together by adoption. We hope they inspire you
too. What makes a family? Why adopt? How has adoption affected
your family? We asked these families, each one having been united
through adoption.
“Bilbo” & Vivi
What makes a family?
A family is love, friendship, support,
and caring. Family isn't rooted in
sharing the same DNA and it isn't
complete without a dog.
How has adoption affected your family?
Adoption enriches everyone's life not just the animal or child that is
being adopted but the family itself.
Shortly after arriving at HSTV, this
big fluffy guy was adopted by the
Massey family. Nowadays, Bilbo
spends his time playing dress-up
and cuddling on the couch with his
little girl who was adopted too! He
may put on a face, but he’s not
missing bachelor life.
“Aspen” & the Girls
Aspen, a mature feline of nine, has
always been young at heart, but
when a senior cat finds herself at
the shelter sometimes it takes a
while for her to be noticed. So,
when four college girls adopted her
into the sisterhood, we were
ecstatic. Now Aspen is just one of
the girls and that is all she ever
wanted!
“Ranger” & Logan
to read how a community of people
worked to unite Logan and Ranger.
After nine-year-old Logan was
officially adopted by his step-mom,
his family decided to welcome a
homeless pet into the family.
Ranger and Logan are inseparable
these days, but Ranger’s adoption
story isn’t a simple one. It’s a story
of heartache and joy. Flip the page
Why adopt?
What led you to adopt Aspen?
She has such a loving and funny
personality and fits right in with all
of our roommates.
What would you share about adoption?
We highly recommend adopting an
older cat [or dog] to anyone that
may not have as much time to train
a kitten [or puppy] but want a pet in
their life.
It is priceless. It is humbling. No
one, be it an animal or a human,
should ever have to go through life
feeling lonely, unwanted, and
unloved.
What makes a family?
Love.

Our sweet little Rocky did not

have been mad, demanded
our money back, written
a mean google review.
But why? We still wanted
a puppy for our son to
love.

learned in our decision to
adopt an abandoned

my son that even though
tragic things happen in
life, you can let it bring
you down or you can let

For animals at HSTV, adoption means no more lonely nights, no more days waiting.
Adoption means dress-up time, playing fetch in the backyard, and being one of the
girls. Adoption means a family to love. Please help more homeless animals like
Bilbo, Aspen and Ranger find a family of their own to love with a donation this
holiday season.
