CELEBRATIONS WE PRACTICE TODAY – WEDDINGS!
Crown Prince Ludwig married Princess Therese of SachsenHildburghausen where their royal families threw a massive
festival for the wedding. Proclaimed as the wedding reception
of the ages, more than 40,000 people came out to wish the
newlyweds well and enjoy the free beer and horse race that
was held in a large meadow just outside of town. The following
year, thousands of party goers continued to come out in
celebration of the couple’s anniversary.

Because of the overwhelming success
of this royal party, it became an
annually celebrated event. Fast forward
to today, more than 200 years later,
Ludwig’s and Therese’s anniversary
is still celebrated all over the world
in what is known as Oktoberfest.
Although the horse races stopped in
1960, the tradition is still as strong
and popular as ever but none come as
close to the original as Hofbräuhaus
Chicago. Customarily in Munich,
Oktoberfest is held from the third
week of September until the first
Sunday in October due to the nicer
weather in September. However, to
make sure everyone has a chance to
experience the world’s greatest party,
ours lasts until October 31st.

year. This is our third season of bringing you the biggest party on

If you’ve never experienced Oktoberfest before, you may
be wondering what all the fuss is about. It’s a tradition
that has lasted over two centuries and centers around
everyone’s favorite brew, Oktoberfestbier – a full-bodied

right with a keg tapping, live entertainment, prizes, and
the filming of the new Walter E. Smithe Furniture TV
commercial! Starting at 6pm until 9pm, grab your 15
minutes of fame as our Haus becomes the backdrop for
the latest (and greatest) Walter E. Smithe commercial.
Throughout the festivities, straight from Munich, our live
entertainment and dance groups will keep the Haus
hoppin’ all night long and at 7:30pm, a keg tapping of
