us in the garden for our annual APPRECIATION
PARTY for all our wonderful volunteers and donors
who help keep this place running smoothly! Save the

recently as part of the Blaine County Community
Food Assessment please fill it out and send it back

survey will help us determine the true number of food

important to valley residents when purchasing food. There are so many ways to make a difference this
month. Read on to learn more and thank you to our
wonderful community for your incredible generosity
and our strong partnerships with other agencies! Warm Regards,

HarvestFest by celebrating the harvest season in
Hailey! The goal of Harvestfest is to showcase and
reward the hard work of our local and regional
farmers. For one night, 12 of Hailey’s restaurants will serve
up fresh local foods delivered direct from the fields by
Idaho’s Bounty Coop. For the price of one

PARTNERS' CORNER: THE COMMUNITY LIBRARY
We are so lucky for our
partnership with
The Community
Library! Not only are
they a location for
Daily Bites (where
kids can get a free
snack at the library), they also partner with our
Summer Food Program, and now they are offering
free oneonone resume help to our clients.
"We have been thrilled to partner with The Hunger
Coalition this year," said DeAnn Campbell, Children's
and Young Adult Librarian. "It has been very
rewarding to provide children, tweens, and
teens with a safe place to be where they can
read and learn but also provide a snack to meet
a real physical need. We would not be able to
provide this service without the help and support of
The Hunger Coalition and its supporters," added
DeAnn.
The Community Library
has also been able to
visit “Lunch in the
Park” firsthand and
provide activities as
part of the Summer
Food Program. During
one visit, The
Community
Library brought
children’s magazines in English and in Spanish and
made pin wheels. "We at the library try to foster
a love of reading and learning, but that learning
is much more difficult on empty stomachs and in
worried minds," said DeAnn. "The work The Hunger
Coalition does in our community is so important and
we’ve been honored to be a small part of it this
summer," added DeAnn. The Community Library is also offering free resume
service for job seekers. This service is provided at
absolutely no charge, but is by appointment. Contact
the reference librarian, Buffy, at (208) 726
3493 or [email protected] to make an
appointment.

VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT: EDUARDO ESCALERA
Eduardo has
been our goto
volunteer at
Lunch in the
Park this
year. He's a
whirlwind 11
yearold who is
as efficient as
he is cute.
Eduardo started
helping at the
Lunch in the
Park after a
friend of his
helped last year
and told him
how much fun it
was.
Eduardo's
volunteer shift starts by setting up the awning
on the van, setting up food, serving lunch to kids
and interacting with the kids at the park. His
favorite sack lunch at the park includes eggs, muffins
and yogurt. His favorite snack at the park is snap
peas.
If Eduardo was explaining The Hunger Coalition to
someone he would say, "It's a place where they
have food for people who need it." When not helping out at Lunch in the Park, you can
find Eduardo doing Taekwondo, riding his bike,
drawing, painting or sculpting and walking dogs. through the Wood River
Women's Foundation
Member Fund Atlantic Aviation $500.
