Press Release February 2, 2016
Amazing results at the Royal Distributing Cup this
weekend! The Bailey Motorsports squad pulled in an
impressive 11 podium finishes over the two days of
racing.
In front of the home town crowd, Isaac St. Onge showed
them who is the one to beat in the Junior classes. Isaac
dominated the field both days of the event, finishing with
an outstanding 6, first place finishes in his motos , giving
him the Win in 2 of his classes and a 2nd in another. If not
for a mishap in his last final, Isaac was headed for the top step of the podium again. “…another hard battling
first in junior 2 class. Amazing weekend!!” (Isaac St.Onge) This young rider is definitely headed towards a great
career in the sport.
Another huge highlight of the weekend was witnessing
Christian Sarracini step up his riding and make a statement
in the Sport 600 classes. Sarracini arrived ready to do
battle on board is 600RS, taking holeshots and turning
them in to moto wins and Podium positions in his finals.
On Saturday Christian qualified for the Sport 600 final in
the afternoon by going 8-2 in his motos and then rode
inspired taking 3rd in the final, this would be Chris’ first trip
to the podium, too bad in all excitement he didn’t make it
to the presentation. Sunday came and Sarracini had the
confidence he needed to put his Ski Doo out front all day
long. “I really felt good on the sled today “ (Sarracini)
Christian would ride one of the best weekends of his career
finished the day with two moto wins in the Sport2 class in
the afternoon and in the final make some moves to place
2nd overall. This time he was ready to step on the box and
thank his crew and sponsors for the support.
The wins weren’t only for the young riders, as our +40
racer Stu Hunt took wins in his Sport and Pro Master
classes on the weekend. “The entire team rode awesome this weekend, everything from moto wins to come
from behind battles that saw our riders move to the front of the pack and step on the podium for the first time
this year” (Hunt)
This event is the closest we get to Toronto and so our
entire family was there to watch. Using this extra bit of
motivation, #729 Ryan Hunt was focused and
determined to put in strong, consistent rides. “Practice
went good and me and Glen made some good changes
to the sled for the conditions and we were both ready
for Moto1.” (Hunt) In his first moto of the day on
Saturday, Hunt nailed the holeshot and held the
position all the way to the checkers. Under tough
conditions Hunt would have difficult second moto and
finish 5th. In the final he would tangle in the first corner,
getting hung up and not get going until the rest of the
field had pulled away. He would make several passes ending the final in 10 th. Sunday would bring even milder
conditions that softened the track that much more, making a good start key. Hunt ran consistent motos going
3-4 in each, setting him up for the final. In his final Ryan rode hard, getting off the line in decent position. He
would make a pass for 4th and then a few laps later took over 3rd. From there, he would run lap after lap
keeping several sled lengths on 4th place behind. A great ride for the rookie Pro Lite rider, finishing in 3rd.
“Can't wait for the next race and try to put my Skidoo up on the box yet again! “ (Hunt)
Now for the Pro Open boys! Both Ståle Eggen and
Mitch King put in some impressive rides this weekend,
showing they had the speed to keep pace with the
leaders. Saturday Ståle had the track mastered, the
sled was dialed in and he was able to race to wins in
both of his qualifying motos. Mitch wasn’t far off the
pace placing his Ski Doo in the 2-3 spots in his
groupings. They would both have great gate picks for
the finals later in the day. Each of our riders would
struggle to get a good start and have to try and race
their way forward throughout the entire race. Both
would begin to pick off riders as the laps wore on, Stale leading his teammate in the charge towards the front.
By the end of the race the two riders had move all the way up to 6 & 7 in a hard fought main event.
Sunday would see the two Pro’s have another great set
of qualifiers, each rider took the night to work with
team mechanics to improve the suspension and
clutching set ups and it showed in their performances.
King would holeshot his first moto and never gave up
the lead, he followed up with a solid 3rd place finish in
the 2nd moto. Eggen had consistent motos going 3-2.
For the final on Sunday afternoon, the track had been
touched up by the CSRA staff, jumps lipped up and
whoop sections tweaked to allow the riders to find new
lines. Off the line both riders head down the long
straight to the first turn, unfortunately only Eggen
would make it to the first turn as King would get hit and snapped one of his ski legs, knocking him out of the
race before it even began. “Just can’t seem to catch a break when it comes to the finals, but I’m still happy
with how the weekend went, I showed great speed in my heats, as long as I keep looking forward the results
will come, on to the next one!” (King)
For 799 Eggen, the final would head in the other direction and end up being his best finish of the season so far.
“I didn't get the best start but I
was pushing all way thru. At
one point I only was 0.2 seconds
behind the leader over the
finish line but we got in to
lappers so I couldn't pass him. I
finished second in the final so
I'm happy with that and really
looking forward to the next
races we have left.” (Eggen)
Eggen would be joined at the
Podium presentations by
teammates Hunt and Sarracini,
giving each of them the chance
to thank team mechanics, Glen
Goodale, Derek Uttley and Luke
Tavaligni and all our Sponsors
