In a dress constructed from the scene of a dream, Gentle Stranger tell stories of how the boy with broken teeth became.
The members of Gentle Stranger met when they were pupils at New Mills school. Now based in London they make music and
perform together. For this homecoming event they are planning a new storytelling-based performance which will take place

ART TRAIL BIG WEEKEND
With more than 150 artists and 67 venues New Mills Festival Art Trail once again turns the town into a gallery. Culminating in
the Big Weekend and timed to coincide with the hugely popular Lantern Procession finale, which attracts an audience of
more than 10,000, the final weekend of the trail sees artists and venues across New Mills open their doors to host pop-up
exhibitions, open studios, workshops, demonstrations and arts and crafts markets.

LANTERN PROCESSION STREET PARTY
Market Street 6.00– ‘til late
Join in the celebrations at the Street Party before and after the Lantern Procession. Sample delicious foods from all
over the world from authentic ‘street food’ vendors, enjoy live music and marvel at the fire eaters, jugglers,
stilt-walkers and other performers who will be entertaining you throughout the evening. Many of our local shops,
restaurants and cafes will also be opening their doors late into the evening.

Come on a magical lantern procession through the Torrs, walk over the famous Millennium Walkway flanked by
impressive fire sculptures and see hundreds of hand-made lanterns light up the evening. Bring your very own
lantern - made at a lantern-making workshop. Procession ends with a Street Party in Market Street. Procession
duration approximately 30mins walking - unless congested. Fire effects and entertainment 7.309.30pm. Entry ONLY at The Rock Tavern - keep going in one direction. Arrive between 7.30-9pm to join
the procession!
