Children’s Liturgy of the Word
Beginning next Sunday, October 9th, we will offer a
Children's Liturgy of the Word during the 10:30 Mass. After
the Opening Prayer of the Mass, volunteers will escort your
children aged 3 to 6 (flexible) to Holy Family Hall, directly
below the church, for child-friendly Scripture readings, an
interactive reflection on the day's readings, and a brief
activity (coloring). They will return to you at the
Offertory.
Your children are welcome whether you responded to
previous announcements or not.
We have plenty of crayons.
More volunteers are always welcome too! Please call for
info on this..
Mass for the Anointing of the Sick
Saturday, October 15, 2016
11:00 am in Church
Catholics who are afflicted by physical, emotional, or
spiritual illness, or are experiencing the effects of old age are
encouraged to receive the Sacrament of the Anointing of the
Sick.
The Communal Rite celebrated within the Mass provides
comfort and strength to those who are sick and suffering
through the sacramental anointing and through the prayers of
our parish community. A luncheon will follow in Holy Family
Hall, located underneath the Church. All are welcome to
attend.
Parishioners who are planning to attend should call the
Parish Office in advance (215-673-5177)
If you are interested in helping with the luncheon or would
like to bring a cake or dessert, please contact Norma @215219-5512.
Are you remarried after one or both
of you divorced?
Are you living together outside of marriage?
Were you married in a way not recognized by the
Church?
If so, YOU ARE NOT ALONE! About 1 in 10 couples among
active parishioners are right there with you. Couples of all
ages! The Church wants your relationship to be as fully
blessed as possible. We stand ready to walk with you in the
process of investigating your possibilities, whatever that
entails. You may be surprised to learn the facts as they exist
today!
Contact Deacon Jim at (215) 673-5177 ext. 28 or
email: [email protected] to discuss your particular
situation.
Do you know somebody to whom this applies?
Please pass the word!

A MESSAGE FROM OUR PASTOR
Dear Friends in Christ,
You will note the announcement that in two weeks we will have our annual Mass of the Anointing of the
Sick. This Mass is a concrete reminder to those who attend that the Sacrament of the Sick is no longer called and
should not be called the “Last Rites.” Properly speaking, the Last Rites for a Catholic is his or her funeral Mass and
Christian burial. The Sacrament of the Sick is intended for those in serious acute or chronic illness and for those
who feel the rigors of age and the health challenges that are part of the aging process.
What happens in the Sacrament of the Sick? Like all of the sacraments, the Sacrament of the Sick is a
channel of God’s grace. Let’s step back a little and look at what that is. Grace is an actual sharing in the life of God.
Just imagine! The God of all life sent his Son into the world and in so doing, He shares His grace or His own life with
all of us. I don’t usually like the overused word “awesome”, but I can’t think of any better word to apply to the fact
that even now we share God’s life. So, please bring your sick and aging relatives and friends to this Mass on
October 15 at 11 a.m. Come yourselves and witness this outpouring of God’s grace. Receive the sacrament
yourself, or at least receive Holy Communion at the Mass. It is truly an awesome thing that God shares his very life
with us in the sacraments. In the Sacrament of the Sick, Christ reminds us that he is with us even when we feel so
downtrodden. All are welcome to attend this Mass. We will look for you on Saturday, October 15 th at 11 a.m.
Before closing, I want to add one reminder. October is the month of the Holy Rosary. It is the chief prayer
of Our Lady for peace in the world. We all know that we live in a world which is greatly in need of peace. So, plan
to come each Tuesday in October at 6:30 pm in Church for the public recitation of the Rosary.
We have only one more month of political ads on TV. It continues to be beyond me that some Catholic
candidates so proudly announce their pro-abortion stance by indicating that they will fight to continue to give
women the right to choose. Haven’t couples already chosen whether or not to have relations that lead to
childbirth? As we get closer to the election, remember to vote pro-life and pro-school choice. Unborn babies and
our Catholic school children are counting on you to register your vote for them.
Until next week, I leave you
In the peace of Christ,
Do you love to sing?
Have you ever thought about joining
our Parish Choir?
HERE IS YOUR CHANCE!!!!
The parish choir welcomes all parishioners who have a
desire to share their musical gifts with the parish
community. The ability to read music is a plus, but
certainly not necessary!
We are preparing some special music for the Advent and
Christmas seasons, so now is a better time than ever to
join!
