A Note to Our Guests - Germantown Community Scholarship Fund
Welcome
Dear Friends of GCSF,
On behalf of the entire GCSF Board of Directors, I welcome you to the 28th Annual Dinner & Auction scholarship
fundraiser benefiting Germantown graduates. We are pleased to offer a refreshing new venue at the Hilton Garden
Inn at Park Place. One of the special additions to the program is guest Master of Ceremonies Jodi Becker, News Anchor
for Wisconsin’s Morning News on Newsradio 620 WTMJ. Read more about Jodi on page 9 of your auction program.
We have kept plenty of your favorite activities from past auctions including the Calendar Raffle, the Wine Tree and the
Verbal Auction hosted by Ron Bast.
We are especially appreciative the long list of sponsors who have partnered with GCSF for the 2013 Dinner & Auction.
Please help us thank those who have given generously including our Premier Corporate Sponsor, Dental Professionals
and the Platinum and Silver Sponsors, Gehl Foods, Inc., WaterStone Bank and Malkin’s Carpets. In addition, we are
pleased to have Jacob Daub Orthodontics sponsoring the Student Showcase and Robert’s Frozen Custard to provide a
festive summer-themed dessert! With equal gratitude, we thank the twelve Calendar Raffle Sponsors and eighteen VIP
Table sponsors.
You are invited to join the celebration as graduates receive their well-earned scholarship awards on May 29th at
Germantown High School. This would not be made possible without your generous giving! Our scholarship fund
derives from many sources: cash & auction item donations, event sponsorships, Endowment Fund contributions and
proceeds from tonight’s special event. Add to this, the endless hours of donated time provided by many community
volunteers and the result is a successful, thriving program that benefits so many of our community’s students.
Lastly, please consider a contribution to the GCSF Endowment Fund which ensures GCSF will have a financial
foundation from which to award scholarships to future generations of graduating students. We hope that you will
participate and enjoy the spirit of the Endowment Fund Campaign Challenge highlighted by the talented GHS Chorus
vocal performance.
I hope you enjoy the evening prepared for you in the spirit of fundraising!
With gratitude,
Deb Stresing, President
GCSF Board of Directors

Endowment Campaign Challenge
Building Toward A Million
In 2006 the Germantown Community Scholarship Fund (GCSF) honored the 25th Anniversary of its founding by
embarking on a journey to grow its endowment fund to $1,000,000. Tonight, we hope to raise $10,000 toward our
ongoing goal.
A contribution to GCSF’s Endowment Campaign is an investment in the future of Germantown youth. Help us
continue on your journey toward building a million dollar endowment fund with tonight’s special opportunity to
donate throughout the Verbal Auction.
Each table is invited to participate in the Endowment Campaign Challenge. Complete the Endowment Pledge Card
found in the basket on our table. Pledge Cards may be handed to a GCSF Board Member. Pledge cards will be tallied
throughout the evening. The top three tables in total pledges will be awarded a unique prize compliments of Amy’s
Gourmet Apples.
Thanks to the generosity of local organizations, community and corporate friends, our Endowment Fund balance
is approximately $835,000. Since 1981, GCSF has awarded more than $1.95 million in scholarships to over 2,000
Germantown area students pursuing their education at a college, university or vocational/technical school. As a
non-profit organization, the GCSF relies on charitable contributions to fulfill its mission.
Obtain a Matching Gift from your employer!
Many corporations will match the gifts made to a qualified non-profit organization by their employees and retirees.
Companies usually match the tax-deductible portion of an employee’s gift, which means that your contributions to
the Germantown Community Scholarship Fund could qualify.
Stop in at your employer’s Human Resources department for further information.
Your completed Matching Gift Form can be mailed to:
Germantown Community Scholarship Fund, Inc.
W180 N11501 River Lane
Germantown, WI 53022
Special Performance by GHS Chorus Students
This portion of the evening’s events will showcase a vocal performance of
“I Dreamed a Dream” from Les Miserables, and “Wanting Memories” by Ysaye Barnwell.

Meet Jodi Becker, Master of Ceremonies and past scholarship recipient.....
Among the many exciting new highlights of the Germantown Community
Scholarship Fund’s Annual Dinner & Auction is the addition of Master of
Ceremonies, Jodi Becker. She is a well-respected News Anchor for Wisconsin’s
Morning News on Newsradio 620 WTMJ, a proud GHS Warhawk Alumna (1997)
and past recipient of GCSF scholarships! Following graduation, Jodi
obtained her undergraduate degree from UW-Eau Claire. She honed her
professional broadcasting skills working in Eau Claire for a number of years
and then had the opportunity to return to Milwaukee to work at WISN. Her on-air
talent was noticed by KFI-AM 620 in Los Angeles and she was whisked away to the
West Coast. During her time in LA Jodi covered everything from wildfires and mud
slides to murder trials and celebrity court hearings. Fortunately, her inner “cheesehead” started longing for
home. She returned to Milwaukee a few years ago as a member of the Newsradio 620 WTMJ team. In
addition to re-establishing her career in Wisconsin, Jodi married her “Mr. Amazing.” While having won awards
from esteemed journalism organizations, Jodi says her biggest accomplishment is her amazing son!

Scholarship Application Process
Scholarship Application Process
The Germantown Community Scholarship Fund is pleased to announce the scholarship process for 2013.
Since the organization’s inception in 1981, over $1.95 million has been awarded in scholarships. Annually
we receive over 100 applications from graduating seniors in the Germantown area.
We use a computer based application process that provides the following:
• Better method for tracking the completion of applications
• Increased accuracy of student reported information
• Simplification of the teacher recommendation process
• Efficient method for recording student application data for use in scoring and award notification.
Anyone receiving full-tuition, room and board scholarships is not eligible to receive a scholarship from the
Germantown Community Scholarship Fund, Inc., including, without limitation, any of the following:
• Chick Evans Scholarship
• College or University Academic Scholarship
• College or University Athletics Scholarship (NCAA or NAIA based)
• U.S. Military Academies (Army, Air Force, Marine Corps, Navy)

Germantown Community Scholarship Fund History: 1981–2013
The Germantown Community Scholarship Fund, Inc. is a charitable organization under Section 501 (c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code and was
formed in 1981 to help local students continue their education at a college, university, or vocational / technical school. The Germantown Rotary
Club donated $10,000 to the trust fund. The first dinner auction was held in 1986. A $200,000 donation in 1990 from the Germantown Volunteer
Fire Company greatly increased the Trust Fund. The organization has awarded over $1.95 million in scholarships to 2,010 students. Scholarships
are funded with donations by businesses, service organizations and individuals.
The board has been involved in many fund raisers through the years. Our most successful event is the Dinner & Auction which is held annually
the first Thursday in February. The culmination of the organization’s efforts is the presentation of scholarships at the Germantown High School
Senior Scholarship Awards Night held in May. Application forms are made available on the GCSF website (www.germantownscholarship.org) in
February and must be completed in March.
