What is The Football Academy?
The Football Academy is a 2-year, full-time education and football development programme delivered in partnership with Professional and NonLeague Football Clubs. Open to talented footballers aged between 16–18 years, the Football Academy programme is a must for any football
enthusiast. A playing trial will be required as places will be offered based on playing ability.
Why join the Academy?
The Academy’s extensive youth training programme gives talented football players the opportunity to develope there technical ability & football
knowledge within a full time training programme. This will be alongside a unique & unrivaled education programme delivered by SCL, with the
fundamental role of striving to create and develope players to compete at first team non- league & professional levels. The Academy programme
will take place at the Whyteleafe FC stadium with the football training, coaching and matches taking place on their new state of the art 3G
Playing surface.
Who is the Academy Manager?
Academy Director - Ken Fisher - Registered premier league scout with 24 years experience at a top Premier League Club. 30 Years in Non-league 1st team and
Academy Manager
Academy Manager/Head Coach - Curtis Whyte - UEFA Qualified coach. Former Trinidad & Tobago youth international , Coaching at Charlton athletic, Chelsea
FC and England amateur football alliance assistant coach.
Assistant Coach (Part time)
Chris McGinn - UEFA coach with 20 years experience with four premier league clubs head coach of great Britian Olympic & World Cup deaf men’s team.
Bob Langford - experienced non league first team manager & head of southern recruitment at a top London premier league club.
Roshane Morgan - previous Whyteleafe Academy player of the year.
Academy football
All Academy players will receive daily training involving individual and team coaching from highly qualified FA coaches affiliated to the football
club. Players will receive guidance on individual football fitness, nutritional advice and a regular appraisal to monitor each player’s development
both on and off the pitch. Players will have the opportunity to represent the football club through the Academy, Youth, College or First-team.
Where will the Academy be held?
The Academy will be based at Whyteleafe Football Club, Church Road, Whyteleafe, Surrey, CR3 0AR. Classroom learning and training sessions will
both be held at the club. Each week, players will take part in 6 hours training & coaching, broken down into three 2 hour sessions. The Academy
team will play on Wednesday afternoons in the Football Conference Youth Alliance U19 League, with home games played on the FIFA star rated
3G artificial playing surface. Minibus travel is provided for all away games.
What education programme will I study?
Over the 2-year duration, players will study a variety of nationally recognised qualifications within the subject areas of Sport, Coaching & Fitness.
Players will study the Diploma in Sport at level 2 & 3 standard (A – Level equivalence), gain FA Coaching Qualifications, as well as core skills in
Maths and English. Successful completion of the educational programme will enable players to follow pathways into Higher Education at selected
universities and employment opportunities within the sport and leisure industry, including coaching placements and playing scholarships in America.
Who will deliver the education?
The club have linked with SCL, a Further Education and Work-based Training Provider, who will be responsible for the management and delivery of
the educational element of the Academy. SCL currently work in partnership with many Sixth Form schools, Further Education colleges and Football
Academies in the South of England and have over 10-years of experience successfully delivering vocational and academic sports based qualifications.
The SCL team consists of highly qualified and experienced Teachers, Assessors, Verifiers and FA Coach Educators.
What are the costs?
Both the football and educational elements of the Academy are fully funded, therefore there is no cost to join the programme. There will be
a subsidised cost for purchasing training kit at the start of the season. Further details will be provided upon the player’s acceptance into the
Football Academy.
