Principal’s Thoughts
Welcome Back! Happy 2010
and Semester 2!
We have had a great time
in January with hiring a new
teacher, having “snow much
fun” on the early dismissal
morning and final exams!
We are looking forward to
an SCC Annual meeting, report cards, high school
dance, Norbert Georget
presentation on drugs, alcohol and drinking & driving,
another early dismissal and
February break!
I would, however, like to
bring to everyone’s attention some upsetting incidents that we’ve been experiencing here at VCS.
Students are having trouble
showing respect for school
property. Washrooms have
been vandalized with writing, soap and paper towel
have been wasted, lounge
walls and couches have been
wrecked. I encourage everyone to have a discussion
with their child(ren) about
the importance of showing
respect for school property
and showing respect for
others as well. We’ve had
assemblies and classroom
talks regarding these issues, but hearing it from
the parents would also be
appreciated.
SCHOOL and we all want it
to look and be the best
that it can be! We have a
wonderful, newer facility
here and are very fortunate to have the opportunity to come to a beautiful,
welcoming building every
day!
I LOVE my job, I LOVE
working here because the
students and staff are
WONDERFUL and there is
nowhere else I’d rather be!

Helping Haiti
Viscount Central School
has done a coin drive for
Haiti. The money will go to
the Canadian Red Cross.
On Monday, students
brought their pennies. On
Tuesday, they brought their
nickels. On Wednesday,
they brought their dimes.
Thursday was quarter day
and Friday was for loonies
and toonies. The elementary students marched
down everyday singing their
marching song as they donated their coins. "I don't
know, but I've been told.
We're giving Haiti all our
gold." Thank you to all of
the families and students
for donating their change to
help the victims of the Haiti
earthquake. We have
raised $ 1161.20 and STILL
counting!
Thank you to all those who
helped count out the
change!

Senior Girls Basketball
VCS has a senior girls basketball team this year! Our team
is made up of nine dedicated
and enthusiastic athletes who
practice hard and have fun
together. Our season was off
to an uneventful start when
our first two games had to be
rescheduled due to weather
and Christmas concert conflicts. Therefore, our competitive season began in January on the road. So far, we
have played Raymore, Holdfast and Watrous on their
turf. February brings basket-
ball into our gym on February
3, 8 and 22. Come on out and
cheer us on!

Welcome to our new teacher!
Thank you very much to the
staff, students, and community for your warm welcome
to Viscount! I am enjoying
teaching the Grade 5/6 class
here very much. I am teaching the class Tues., Wed., and
Thurs., and Mr. Hanson on
Mon. and Fri., as well as doing
some music with other grades.
Prior to teaching in schools I
worked for many years as a
skating coach, music teacher,
January, 2010
and graphic designer. I currently
live in Saskatoon
with my husband
and two children,
although I'm originally from a small
town in the
Meadow Lake area,
