Arden Summer Camp provides exclusive access to Philadelphia’s top theatre artists. We
offer one-day masterclasses, multi-week camps focused on taking technique to the next
level and a four-week musical theatre studio that gives young performers an opportunity
to learn more about theatrical process as they rehearse for a fully-realized show.

SUMMER CAMP
MUSICAL THEATRE CAMP
July 18 – August 5 (Mondays - Fridays only)
Final Performance: Friday, August 5
10am - 5pm
Musical theatre professionals will teach you how to
hone your singing, movement, and acting skills while
learning how to harmonize, integrate choreography,
and interpret a song. At the end of camp, parents,
friends, and family will be invited to a musical revue
featuring musical numbers you’ve worked on over
the three weeks.

Arden Summer Camp offers extended care options before and after
camp from 9 - 10am and 5 - 6pm! The cost is $10 per session, for a

ROCKSTAR CAMP
June 27 – July 1
Final Performance: Friday, July 1

ONE-WEEK
CAMP
Do you have dreams of being the lead singer of a rock band? We will
make that dream a reality! We will explore the history of rock and how
it’s different from/similar to theatre singing. Over the course of this week,
campers will have the opportunity to develop a rock persona and perform
with a band consisting of piano, bass, guitar, and drums!
COST: $400
ACTING CAMP
July 5 – 15 (Mondays - Fridays only, please note
that we are starting on TUESDAY, JULY 5)
Final Performance: Friday, July 15
10am - 5pm
TWO-WEEK
CAMP
Some of Philly’s finest theatre pros will teach you how to employ key acting
techniques while working on a script. Students will explore exercises that
help them to be an active listener, create believable characters, and build
ensemble skills. At the end of camp on Friday, July 15 at 3pm, parents,
friends, and family will be invited to a showcase starring you!
COST: $630

PLAYWRITING CAMP
August 15 – 19

ONE-WEEK
CAMP
Do you ever walk down the street and imagine your life as a play? Over
the course of this week, campers will work with a professional playwright
to learn about the fundamentals of playwriting, and how to translate life
experiences onto stage. Campers will be guided through several exercises
that lead to writing original scenes that will be presented on the last day of
class.
COST: $400
COMEDY CAMP
August 29 – September 2
Final Performance: Friday, September 2

ONE-WEEK
CAMP
This camp gives kids the chance to flex their comedic muscles! Whether
you consider yourself a comedian or are interested in understanding how
to perform comedic styles, this camp provides a space to explore what it
means to be funny and translate that humor to an audience. Campers will
learn about a variety of areas in comedy – from sketch comedy, improv, and
clowning – and present their work on the last day of camp.
COST: $400
The cost for extended care is $10 per session, for a total of $20 for the
whole day.

CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT
Learn how to employ vocal and movement techniques to bring specificity and
life to a character! Students will explore a variety of exercises that encourage
them to make bold, authentic choices. You’ll acquire skills that can be used to
approach a wide range of characters.

SCENE STUDY
Sharpen your acting skills by working with theatre professionals on scenes
from contemporary and classic plays as well as movie scripts. This class will
challenge you to analyze text and create believable characters while honing
your performance technique.
Tuesday, June 28
SONG STUDY
Explore duets and trios from contemporary and classic musical theatre
shows. This class will give students the tools to communicate effectively in a
musical scene. You will learn how to identify clues in the lyrics and music to
enhance song interpretation as well as connection with your scene partner
and audience.

TECHNIQUE
MOVEMENT FOR MUSICAL THEATRE
If you’re planning to audition for musical theatre programs at the college level,
this is the class for you! The majority of competitive musical theatre schools
include a movement and/or dance component, and we want our students to
be “in the know.” This class is being taught by a professional choreographer/
dancer who specializes in musical theatre dance, modern, hip hop, and tap.
Students will have an opportunity to try out different styles of dance as well as
experience a professional audition simulation.

AUDITION TECHNIQUE
Looking to improve your next audition? Whether it’s your high school play or a
college entrance audition, a professional casting director and performer will
give students an opportunity to hear both sides of the audition process. Gain
the confidence you need to be a standout performer!
To participate, you must prepare the following:
Actors: Prepare and memorize a 1-minute long monologue and bring a copy of
the text to the class.
Singers: Prepare and memorize a 32-bar cut of an up-tempo song or 16 bars
of a ballad and bring a copy of the sheet music to the class. Sheet music must
include piano accompaniment.

Audition, rehearse, and perform Seussical, a contemporary musical all about the
nature of friendship and overcoming adversity, with Book & Lyrics by Lynn Ahrens
and Music by Stephen Flaherty. Students work with a professional
director, musical director, and choreographer
to bring this production to life, complete
with sets, lights, and costumes. This is an
all-access pass to learning about production
process!

Friday Night Live! – Live from Arden Theatre Company, it’s Friday night! Create
a short form improv show throughout the week. From writing and rehearsing to
directing and designing – you’ll learn all about what it takes to put up a sketch
comedy show. On the last day, family and friends come back to watch your show!

What is your passion? During this week, campers have an open platform to
express themselves in any manner they wish! Whether it’s through song,
storytelling, spoken word, movement, or anything else, campers will have the

communicate material that is deeply personal. Original work is welcome. The
stage is ready, and the mic is open!
