KALMAR`S NEW i-MODEL TRACTORS FOR TRAILER HANDLING
A NEW ERA STARTS WITH i
KALMAR’S NEW i-MODEL TRACTORS
FOR TRAILER HANDLING
The age of environment
and economics
In today’s age, environmentally friendly, economical and cost-efficient
terminal tractors are critical to the future of your business. Kalmar
ensures our customers’ success, as a reliable logistics partner, by
providing the best and most technologically advanced machines, with
outstanding maneuverability and low operating costs. We don’t have
the world’s most sold terminal tractor for nothing!
Top reliability and technology
All new terminal tractor models continue to be the best in robust
reliability. Their strength, high-quality design and well-known
components guarantee maximum uptime and keep your operations
moving, even in the harshest conditions from the arctic to the tropics.
Kalmar is continuing this tradition of outstanding design and top
quality with a whole new era of efficient, intelligent terminal tractors
featuring a new engine, transmission and CAN-BUS – our i-models.
Why the i?
The i in our new line of products shows Kalmar’s capability and
commitment to new innovative solutions with the first terminal
tractor on the market to use the CAN-BUS control system.
The complete integration of the engine, transmission, and whole
machine with the CAN-BUS control system simplifies use and
improves tractor efficiency. CAN-BUS’s many intelligent features like
comprehensive information generation and collection make drivers’
as well as service staff’s jobs easier and more effective.
i CAN…says the driver
Drivers will enjoy the greatly improved performance, smooth
automatic gear change and CAN-BUS features which bring easy
operation to a completely new level, giving the driver freedom to
concentrate on the essential – operation. Correspondingly, service
technicians will have easier maintenance than ever before.
The i-model promise
i CAN…
…make the driver’s tasks easier and faster
…give more power and torque
…offer troubleshooting in 1/10 of the time
…simplify electrical system and maintenance
...give longer service intervals
…meet the new environmentally-friendly regulations.
Greater power and torque, less emissions
Moving even heavier loads is now easier. The new
Volvo TAD750VE and the optional Sisu Diesel 74CTA
engines (both EU stage 3A and EPA/CARB Tier III
emission level) have:
• 180 kW and 1050 Nm (23% increase compared to
TAD720) starting from lower engine revs
• Electronic control with protection system
• Common Rail fuel injection
• New type exhaust gas re-circulation
• Advanced diagnostics through CAN-BUS
• Longer service intervals
Easier operation, greater capacity, less service
The new stronger transmission, the Dana RTE15822,
is based on the well proven 32000-series with new
improvements including:
TTX182i, TRX182i, and TRL182i
• Very soft and smooth automatic gear change
(manual gear change alternative)
• 8+8 speeds forwards and rearwards with high/
low-range (TTX with 4+4)
• Electronic control with protection system
• No tractive effort interruption
• Advanced diagnostics through CAN-BUS
• 100% longer service intervals (now 1000 hours)
– the new engine, transmission and
CAN-BUS meet specific customer needs
Kalmar’s focus on your needs has led to our new i‑model
terminal tractors. The new TTX182i, TRX182i, and TRL182i
features include:
Faster, safer, simpler operation and control
with CAN-BUS
The CAN-BUS control system’s many new features
allow for easier use, overall improved efficiency and
time utilization with better maintenance planning at
customers’ terminals. The key features include:
• One display clearly showing all information
• Information and diagnostics readily available on
drivers display
• Troubleshooting in 1/10 of the time
• Proportional lift boom control (+ auto-revs-up
adjusts hydraulic oil flow to optimum level)
• New standard blockings on engagement when
tractor is moving: forward-reverse, 4WD, king-pin
opening, range change
• Autostop after adjustable idling time
• Engine delay stop, protection for engine
• Fewer wire harnesses and no circuit boards
• Readiness for diagnostics from office –

CAN-BUS answers
increasing demands
Today’s tractors have a growing number of electrically
controlled systems with complex wire harnesses,
increased electrical information flow, numerous sensors
and customer options, and harder-to-find errors. With CANBUS, this is no longer a concern.
More customer-specific features and clarified
installation
One clear display showing all information, warnings and
sensor errors (values) provides easy control over the
increased amount of engine and transmission data and
customer options.
CAN-BUS reduces the wire harnesses to one-third of the
traditional system and eliminates circuit boards. This
makes the electrical system clearer, more reliable and
flexible.
Less downtime, higher runtime
Better diagnostics and readily available information on the
driver’s display is the key to operational efficiency. CANBUS clearly indicates service intervals and other service
information on the driver’s monitor. Troubleshooting
takes only seconds as the information is more precise
and technical personnel can therefore quickly decide
what needs to be done. CAN-BUS can also connect to
the Kalmar RMI (Remote Maintenanace Interface) system
for better service planning and fault diagnostics from the
office.
