Planning - Villa Madonna Academy
Vision
The
2009-2010
Strategic Plan
for
Planning for the future is critical in today’s environment. Villa Madonna Academy’s success can be
attributed to the strategic planning that has taken place in previous years. It has helped ensure
the school’s strong academic program, its financial footing and its Catholic, Benedictine heritage.
In order to shape Villa’s future and further advance the school’s mission, a strategic planning initiative
has been underway. This document contains the final goals and objectives that is the Vision of Villa.
The
Strategic Planning Committee included 52 people
representing faculty, administration, alumni, elementary school
and high school parents, donors, as well as representatives from
St. Walburg Monastery, Athletic Boosters, Fine Arts Patrons and
the Parent, Teacher, Administration Organization (PTAO).
This strategic plan encompasses some goals that are achievable in
the near term future and do not entail significant financial
resources whereas other goals will require more long-range
development and major financial support. Below are the top
challenges and priorities identified through an electronic survey
sent to Villa parents and as set by the Strategic Planning Committee:
1. Continued integration of Villa Madonna’s Benedictine
values and Catholic identity in all aspects of the
academic and extracurricular experience.
2. Capital improvements to the main school building
(opened in 1958) and the original school building (now
called Villa Madonna Center Building) for maximum use
as classroom, meeting and office space.
This part of the process confirmed those involved with Villa
Madonna Academy are doing a good job of incorporating the
Benedictine and Catholic values into all aspects of Villa’s
operations. Also viewed as positives are the school’s small size
and its high quality curriculum and faculty. Challenges included
balancing making capital improvements to the Center Building
and retiring the bond debt while trying to avoid significant
tuition increases. A possible solution gathered from this survey
was to build more relationships with the Northern Kentucky /
Greater Cincinnati community and businesses for support.
There are 11 key areas in which goals and objectives
were set:
1. Catholic Identity
2. Ownership , Governance, and Administration
3. Enrollment
4. Guidance and Counseling
5. Curriculum and Programs
3. The rising cost of tuition, which may be cost-prohibitive
for many families in light of the country’s economic
downturn.
6. Technology
4. Retirement of Villa Madonna’s current bond debt.
8. Facilities
5. Better integration with the Northern Kentucky/Greater
Cincinnati community, and the business community
in particular.
9. Finance
6. Continuation of Villa’s small-school environment and
focus on quality curriculum, teaching and academic and
extracurricular facilities.
11. School in the Community
7. Utilization of the Villa Madonna Academy campus, with
its theatre, athletic center and athletic fields, as
a resource for the community, and a tool for enhancing
the reputation of the school.
7. Staffing
10. Development and Public Relations
The Strategic Planning Committee was divided into five groups
and assigned to develop a goal for their group. The group atlarge then discussed the goals and developed an overall goal to
be achieved in the next three to five years for each area. The
same process occurred to develop objectives for each goal.
