on the year that was – 2012 saw refurbishment projects at
Wyndham Vacation Resorts Asia Pacific Sydney and Wyndham
Vacation Resorts Asia Pacific at Ramada Port Douglas. The
minor refurbishment completed at Wyndham Sydney has

The Penguin Parade was the most popular

New Resorts & Refurbishments
Pool Renovations in Fiji
I
n line with our commitment to maintain your WorldMark South Pacific Club by Wyndham
properties, we are currently undertaking a major upgrade of Wyndham Vacation Resorts
Denarau Island beach.
Asia Pacific Denarau Island in Fiji. As part of this upgrade, the resort pool will also undergo
much-needed renovations.
To ensure these pool works are completed to the highest standards for our Owners, it will
be necessary for us to close the pool for a period of approximately five weeks from 1 May
2013. Should you have an existing reservation, or are considering booking a stay at Wyndham
Resort Denarau Island over this period, we would like to outline the alternate options that
will be in place to ensure this upgrade has as minimal impact on your holiday as possible.
Will a pool be available?
As part of the overall resort upgrade, a second brand-new lagoon pool (including pool bar
services) is scheduled for completion before 1 May 2013. Please note: this pool is much smaller
than the main resort pool. The existing central spa facilities will continue to be available for
your enjoyment.
What alternative facilities will be available?
There is a designated swimming area on the beach (at low tide) accessible directly from
the front of the resort beach.
Showers are available for your convenience.
A number of water activities will be available including the free use of kayaks.
Food and beverage will be available from the newly constructed restaurant next to
Reception. We thank you for your understanding during this period and trust that you are
aware our priority is ensuring Owners have an enjoyable holiday experience. Call Owner
Services on 1300 850 160 (AU), 0800 850 160 (NZ), or 00 800 32 63 (FJ) if you have any questions
regarding the upgrade.
As unforeseen circumstances such as extensive poor weather can impact schedules, please
refer to worldmarksp.com/fiji for the most current updates on the refurbishment.
PLEASE NOTE: the above project timelines are accurate as of December 2012. They are provided as a guide only
and may change due to weather conditions or other external factors out of our control.

et on 65 acres of natural bushland,
Ramada Phillip Island provides a private
setting combined with excellent facilities.
There’s an outdoor swimming pool and
spa, health centre with gym and spa, games
room, children’s playground, two tennis
courts, two picnic barbecue areas and
an onsite café and bar, plus pizzeria. For
those who want to stay active and explore
the surrounds, there are seven kilometres
of walking and cycling tracks around the
resort; perfect if you’ve indulged in one too
many woodfired pizzas from the pizzeria.
Famed for its one-of-a-kind wildlife
experiences, at Phillip Island you can
see koalas snoozing in the treetops, view
Australia’s largest colony of fur seals and,
come evening, get acquainted with Phillip
Island’s best loved residents – the Little
Penguins – as they return to their burrows
in the famous Penguin Parade. As well
as wondrous wildlife, there are pretty
beaches and protected bays to explore, and
one of Victoria’s top surfing breaks.
A
ttached to the mainland by a road
bridge, Phillip Island is accessible
by car or ferry, but with a lack of public
transport, it’s best to have access to a car
during your stay. Travelling in by car,
you will pass through Newhaven, located
at the island’s eastern tip. Stop in at the
Phillip Island Chocolate Factory, home
to Panny’s Amazing World of Chocolate,
where you can learn all you have ever
wanted to know about chocolate and even
create your very own taste sensation.
Stock up on some sweet treats to indulge
in during your stay and then head on over
to Ramada Phillip Island to get settled in.
If you’re an animal lover, you’ll feel
right at home at Phillip Island and even if
you’re not a huge fan of all things furry or
feathered, you’ll still be awe-struck by the
natural wonder of the celebrated Penguin
Parade. Book your tickets in advance and
take your place as the sun goes down for an
exciting and intimate wildlife experience.
By day, there are plenty of activities
to keep you occupied. Let loose
at A Maze ‘N Things, where
you can get lost in its giant
maze, practice your putting
on the mini golf course or be
mesmerised at the marvels
of the indoor illusions centre.
Brush up on some history at the National
Vietnam Veterans Museum – a wonderful
educational experience for adults and
children alike. Try your hand at fishing
at Rhyll Trout & Bush Tucker Farm. Catch
your lunch to take home and prepare, or
have their award-winning chef whip it
up for you. You can also hit the green at
Phillip Island Golf Club, indulge in a glass
or two of wine at Purple Hen Winery or,
for something a little more adventurous,
go for a spin with the HSV Hot Laps at
Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit.
Phillip Island is a holiday destination

T
he good old Aussie road trip is making a comeback as more
and more travellers hit the road to experience the best this
picturesque country has to offer. As a WorldMark South
Pacific Club Owner, you have access to a number of beautiful,
conveniently located resorts across Australia, making a road trip
an even more appealing holiday option.
SYDNEY
Starting off in Sydney and winding up on the Gold Coast, this is
the quintessential Aussie road trip. Many of us would remember
loading up the Kingswood as a child and heading for the glistening
shores of Surfers Paradise for a week of sun, sand and surf. With
the affordable cost of air travel these days, road trips have become
less of a necessity, but they are actually a great, fun way to travel
– especially for those families with young children, as it offers the
freedom to stop and stretch your legs whenever you please.
If you are not from Sydney, but are using the city as a starting
point for your journey, you may want to spend a few days here
exploring all the iconic sights before setting off. Wyndham Vacation
Resorts Asia Pacific Sydney offers a range of well-appointed studio,
one and two-bedroom suites, conveniently located close to Darling
Harbour and within easy access of Sydney’s best loved tourist
attractions.
From Sydney, follow the coast and head north, making Port
Macquarie your first destination. An easy two-and-a-half-hour
drive, you may not need to stop during this first leg of the journey at
all, but if you do, there are plenty of places worth visiting along the
way, including some of Sydney’s northern beaches. Leave the CBD
before peak hour traffic begins to build up and arrive on the north
shore in time for breakfast, before heading for Port Macquarie.

PORT MACQUARIE
Make your first port of call Port Macquarie! Located midway between Sydney and Brisbane, about a five-hour drive
from Sydney, there are ample opportunities to stop for a tea break and lots of beautiful sights to see, which will help
your time on the road fly by. Port Macquarie boasts one of the best climates in Australia, making it a lovely place
to visit any time of year. Offering a wide variety of activities, from water sports and nature walks, to wineries,
museums and galleries, you could spend a week here and still not run out of things to do. However, your
time in Port Macquarie on this particular trip will most likely be limited, so we suggest a bit of advance
planning to choose your activities wisely! Wyndham Vacation Resorts Asia Pacific Flynns Beach is located
in a striking natural setting and boasts a stunning outdoor swimming pool and spa, plus barbecue areas
for a comfortable and enjoyable stay.

For the next leg of your road trip, Coffs Harbour is an ideal choice to stay. Coffs Harbour is a
relaxing haven where you can soak up the peaceful atmosphere before heading for all the
ritz and glitz of the Gold Coast. Home to the legendary Big Banana, the kids will not let
you leave without a visit to the iconic yellow landmark, which is now also a fantastic
mini theme park complete with a children’s water park, ice rink and toboggans.

hilst greener energy options such as solar power and wind
energy have offered us the opportunity to contribute to a
cleaner future, there is still much more we can do to ensure the
preservation of our planet!
By taking some simple steps to reduce energy consumption
and increase energy efficiency, not only can we harness some of the
strain we put on the environment, but we can save some money too!
Try these easy ways to be more eco-friendly today:
Swap the tumble dryer for the clothes line
Using a clothes dryer three times a week can create as much as 600
kilograms of greenhouse gas emissions each year and cost more
than $1,200 in power to run.
Swap air conditioning units for ceiling fans, or use
natural ventilation where possible
Depending on your electricity provider’s costs, ceiling fans cost
approximately two cents per hour to run versus air conditioners,
which can cost up to 55 cents per hour.
If you have to use an air conditioner, set the
thermostat to 23°C or higher
Each degree lower can add 10% to the cost of running an air
conditioner.
Wash clothes using cold water
Washing with cold water can cut 80% to 90% off your washing
machine’s running costs.

his gorgeous beach town really comes alive
in the hotter months. My two favourite
surf breaks are Jan Juc and Bells Beach, where I
have rung the bell three times! The surf is best
during autumn and winter, but all year round,
Bells delivers fantastic right hand breaks. If
you are a beginner, ideal waves can be found
at Torquay and Anglesea. If you don’t surf yet,
try it! Book in for a surfing lesson with one of
Torquay’s excellent surf schools. The Reception

Torquay can help you with this. Once you’re

at Surf City Plaza! Don’t leave town without
a visit to the Surf World Museum (I am one
of the exhibits), then stretch your legs along
the spectacular Surf Coast Walk.
