Greetings From the Missionary’s Desk
David Platt’s bio on Wikipedia lists his occupation as
“Pastor, Author, Educator, Missionary.” In 2014, at the
age of 36, he was named as the president of the
Southern Baptist Convention's International Mission
Board. At the age of 26, Platt was leading the
congregation of The Church at Brook Hills, Birmingham,
Alabama, and was known as the youngest megachurch
pastor in America. Platt is also the author of the New
York Times Best Seller, Radical: Taking Back Your Faith
from the American Dream, a follow-up book, Radical
Together: Unleashing the People of God for the Purpose
of God, and Follow Me: A Call to Die. A Call to Live. He
has said, "I believe that God has uniquely created every
one of His people to impact the world. Some may count
it as idealistic, but I believe it is thoroughly biblical,
rooted in Psalm 67:1-2, yet covering Scripture from
beginning to end. God is in the business of blessing His
people so that His ways and His salvation might be
made known among all people.”
We here in Oklahoma have a unique opportunity to see
and hear David Platt on April 14. The North American
Mission Board is hosting the SEND North America
Experience Tour at Edmond’s First Baptist Church at
7:00 PM. The event is free. However, due to the

meets at the Payne County Expo Center.
Morrison, Hilltop (Russ Hughes, pastor) is hosting an
Ole Time Gospel Singing with several local performers
on Sunday evening, March 1, 6:00 PM.
Cleveland, First (Greg Hall, pastor), Olive, First (Tyler
McDowell, pastor), and Oilton, First (Larry Calvert,
pastor) were all recognized at the State Evangelism
Conference for being among Baptism Leaders in 2014.
