Winter, especially in the northern climate, is unforgiving when it
comes to the health of our skin. Lower temperatures and humidity
rob our skin of moisture. We further complicate the problem
by taking hot, steamy showers that strip our skin
of its natural oils. Our skin becomes dryer, and
as a result, it can appear aged and wrinkled. All
is not lost, however. Sublime offers professional

MASTER AESTHETICIAN
Sara Pooley specializes in skin care services and products at Sublime’s Grand Forks, North
Dakota, location. Pooley grew up in Reno, Nevada, and joined the Sublime team in 2013.
She became an aesthetician because of her love for the aesthetics industry, and her passion for
skin care has blossomed. Today, she’s known as the go-to person at Sublime for HydraFacials,
a facial treatment that combines soothing and invigorating spa therapies with advanced medical
technology. “HydraFacials allow me to thoroughly address our clients’ skin care concerns,”
says Pooley. “The application itself is designed for all skin types, but we can choose specific
serums and customize the treatment to each person’s unique skin conditions and needs.”
Start with a gentle, lotion-based cleanser.
Lotion-based cleansers are great for the colder
months, as they are effective at removing makeup, but they don’t contain harsh ingredients that
are hard on your already fragile skin. Sublime’s

Chamomile Cleansing Lotion and the Oxygen
Revitalizing Cleanser.

Tone your skin. Toners safeguard the skin with a protective
barrier that helps retain moisture in the skin. Toners are also used to
help bring the skin to a balanced pH level. Skin is normally acidic at a pH of 5-6, but with cleansing, our skin often
becomes alkaline, with a pH greater than 7. Applying a toner helps the skin revert back to its normal pH level.
For good skin health, try Sublime’s Ginseng Mineral Toner or Vital Hydrant Toner.
Apply a good moisturizer. It’s important that your skin remain hydrated at all times, especially during the winter months.
Sublime’s Marine Restorative Moisturizer, Sage and Citrus Moisturizer and Ultra Soy Peptide Cream are all great options.
Introduce products that contain active ingredients. One of the most important active ingredients is Vitamin C, which
helps protect our skin from harmful environmental factors that can damage our skin’s DNA and result in poor texture and
tone, as well as the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Vitamin C is found in several Vivier and Skin Tx serums offered
at Sublime. Hyaluronic acid is another active ingredient that helps promote healthy skin. Hyaluronic acid helps to
moisturize dehydrated skin while providing a healthy environment to promote skin cell growth and renewal. With this
growth and renewal comes the reduction of fine lines and wrinkles. Hyaluronic acid can be found in Vivier’s Hydragel
Advanced B5+ complex, as well as Platine’s Peptide CR Complex. Other active ingredients to look for in skin care products

Makall Grager is a skin care expert at Sublime’s Fargo, North Dakota, location. She joined Sublime
after graduating from the Salon Professional Academy in Fargo and has been putting her love for
making women look beautiful to work for Sublime clients ever since. Grager has a special niche
for applying lash extensions, a service that Sublime provides for those who want fuller lashes or
who are tired of applying mascara. “I get to have a lot of fun with lash extensions,” says Grager.
“There are so many options when it comes to length and volume. We can keep it natural for
everyday wear or go dramatic for an upcoming special event. The results are instantaneous,
and I love seeing people’s reactions to how great they look.”

Kayla Gerken provides skin care services and consultations to clients at Sublime’s Minot, North
Dakota, location. A native of Green River, Wyoming, Gerken went to school in Utah to pursue her
passion for beauty and wellness, and she now has made a name for herself at Sublime. According
to Gerken, one of the most important steps to taking care of your skin is applying sunscreen and
using professional skin care products. “The biggest skin care mistake I see people make when it
comes to their face is using department store brands,” she says. “Professional products utilize
the latest research, and they have better-quality ingredients that are gentle on your skin. With
department store brands, you never really know what you’re getting.”
