Dear Parishioners,
Thanks to all who helped to make our Mass of
Remembrance this past Sunday such a powerful
experience. I have received many notes and emails from
parishioners and visitors alike who expressed gratitude and
appreciation for the liturgy. I wish that I could adequately express
appreciation to all those in our Holy Infant community who gave so
freely of your time in planning the Mass, preparing all of the memorial
candles, creating the scroll with the names of our faithful departed,
decorating our sanctuary, ordering plants and flowers, selecting the
music, creating the Book of Remembrance and welcoming all of our
guests and visitors. Thanks to all who served on the Planning Team,
namely, Mary Hernandez, Maria Flores, Beata Gordon, Monica
Sabatino and Kris Mispagel. Special thanks to all of the members of
our 12 noon Mass band – Mark Pilkenton, Christy Hacey, B.J. Cupps,
John Walker, Ed Spinaio and Andrew Hacey for leading us in such
beautiful song and worship.
Throughout the month of November, our Book of Remembrance will be
kept near our Statue of the Holy Family. We invite you to enroll the
names of your loved ones who have been called to their eternal home,
so that we can remember them in our prayers and intercessions.
Speaking of gratitude, we are now making plans for our upcoming
Thanksgiving celebrations. Because the holidays can be so jampacked, we run the risk of not really taking the time to adequately
reflect on the many blessings we enjoy, and we should.

After all Masses on the weekend of November
7th and 8th, the Knights of Columbus will have
a gift card for every veteran who has served or
is currently serving in the U.S. Military. Look for
the Knights of Columbus banner in the
vestibule of the Church. Thank you for your
service and God bless you and America!
We are invited to take time to be grateful for our families, our nation
and our faith. I know that I find myself very grateful for Holy Infant
parish and the many families who assemble with such faith and love
every Sunday to praise our God who loves us. We are blessed to have
such a strong and generous parish spirit that is visible in our St.
Vincent de Paul Society, our mission trips to Haiti, the volunteers who
extend a hand to those in need at the St. Wenceslaus food pantry, the
volunteers who prepare a luncheon for grieving families, and so many
individuals who roll up their sleeves and pitch in to make life better for
this whole community. I am personally grateful to be able to serve as
pastor at such a fantastic and vibrant parish!
It is in a spirit of gratitude that we will gather on Wednesday, November
25th at 8:00 a.m. for a special All-School Thanksgiving liturgy. All are
welcome to join our students and faculty as we give thanks to our
generous and loving God for the many blessings we have received.
The students from our school will offer non-perishable items that will be
donated to the St. Wenceslaus Food Pantry.
The following day, November 26th, Thanksgiving Day, we will have one
Mass at 9:00 a.m. It is a great way to begin the holiday – in grateful
prayer to God for blessing us and sustaining us, day after day. All are
most welcome to attend this special Thanksgiving liturgy.
As in the past, all will be invited to process in to the sanctuary during
the Presentation of the Gifts with your donation of non-perishable food
items which also will be donated to the St. Wenceslaus Food Pantry.
All monetary donations will be given to our Holy Infant St. Vincent
DePaul Society to support their efforts in reaching out to those in need.
I hope that you mark your calendars and feel most welcome to attend
these special liturgies.
God’s blessings to you and your families,

“I say to you, this poor widow put in more than all the other
contributors to the treasury. For they all contributed out of
their abundance; but she out of her poverty has put in
everything she had, her whole living.” Mark 12:43-44
We are all called to give money to support the mission of
the church, regardless of our circumstances. No gift is too
small or insignificant. Giving is a matter of faith.

Last Monday, the Church celebrated All Soul’s Day or The
Commemoration of All the Faithful Departed. What is the human
soul? It is the spiritual principle of human beings, the subject of
human consciousness and freedom. According to the
Catechism, “Each human soul is individual and immortal,
immediately created by God.” The soul and body together form
your unique human nature. During this year of prayer, are you
taking care of your soul? www.archstl.org/dynamic
