THE CHAMBER HAS A NEW WEBSITE
The chamber website has a new look and new features for it’s members. Take advantage of the website’s attributes by visiting www.deerpark.org today!
Online Calendar of Events: The website now features an online calendar of events. The most recent events can be
found on the homepage on a scrolling calendar. Members are also able to view events in calendar format either by clicking
’view all events’ on the scrolling calendar or clicking the ’calendar’ link at the top hand navigation on any of the pages.
Register for events: If members see an event they would like to attend, they now have the ability to make reservations
online. Members are able to make reservations months in advance and set up an email reminder to remind them that the
event is approaching. Website users also have the advantage of paying for the event online and receiving a receipt for the
payment sent directly to their email. When a member opens the event, they have the option to click the ‘register’ button.
Once the register button is clicked, a new window will open and members have the ability to enter all the information
needed. That includes the number of reservations, names of attendees and payment method. The information will be
emailed to the member and the chamber. The reservations will be made.
Online Newsletter: Current and back of the newsletter will be available online and includes color photos and links. Members are able to click on the newsletter link and select the month that they would like to view. A separate window with a
PDF of the newsletter will then be opened.
Virtual Directory: Take a tour of the directory online. Members are able to view the directory as if it were sitting in front of
them. Read articles within the directory and have access to the websites of those who have advertised in the directory by
clicking on their full color ads.

Improving the quantity and quality of the Chamber is an
ongoing commitment. The way we do this is through a
strong membership base. Members are what the
Chamber is all about. It is one thing to sign-up a new
member -- it is just as important to keep good members. This is done by offering services and activities
that enhance membership value. We refer to “dues” as
“investment.” Why? Because of the low membership
cost for many organizations, it really is an investment.
That’s how the Chamber staff and volunteers look at it,
as an investment. Members who take advantage of all
the Chamber has to offer will likely find that increased
exposure and networking opportunities help their businesses grow and prosper. We all encounter business
friends on a day-to-day basis. If they’re not chamber
members...why not? Please encourage your business
associates to become a part of our organization by contacting Donna Mills, Membership Director at 281-4791559. The networking opportunities are invaluable.
The April Beautification Award was recently presented
to Zachry Construction at 2402 Battleground Road.
Have you driven by there lately? The grounds look
great and their new building is beautiful!

have a destination and a purpose. Whether it be pipe fencing or sheet metal, California Pipe Recycling offers and
alternative for metal waste. We welcome this California
On May 21, this year’s BUSINESS EXPO also promises to be special. As in past years it will be held at the
Jimmy Burke Activity Center from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00
p.m. This well received event provides our business
members the opportunity to showcase their business,
as well as honor our Small Business of the Year. We
expect a full house for our speaker, Jim McIngvale,
better known as “Mattress Mack” to most people in this
area of the country. Mack is a unique individual who
has made his mark on the world not only by his business achievements, but also by showing that his heart
is as big as Texas. While I don’t promise that he’ll be
pulling dollar bills out of his back pocket to pass out to
the audience, I can promise that you will hear a dynamic speaker who is not afraid to show his love of
country and his fellow man.
I’ve said it before, but let me say it again, the chamber
is here to serve you. We are currently making changes
within our organization to allow us to better serve our
members and the needs of the business community
and local economy. If you have any ideas or projects
you would like to see the chamber pursue, please let us
know. Our doors are always open. If there is ever anything we can do to help you, please give us a call. We
are always open to new ideas and suggestions. See
you at our next event.
Upward,
Grady West, Chairman of the Board

Papa John’s
As a high school student working at a local pizza pub in
Jeffersonville, Indiana, Papa John's founder John Schnatter
realized that there was something missing from national
pizza chains; a superior-quality traditional pizza delivered to
the customer's door. In 1983, "Papa" John Schnatter delivered his last campus pizza, picked up his business degree
from Ball State University, and went back to Jeffersonville,
Indiana. There, at age 22, he knocked down the broom
closet in his father's tavern, sold his prized 1972 Z28
Camaro, purchased $1,600 worth of used restaurant equipment, and began delivering pizzas out of the back of the
bar. To this day, Papa John’s, is committed to delivering on
its brand promise of "Better Ingredients, Better Pizza." Call
the Deer Park location today to experience this promise at
