After 24 hours of traveling the UNE IFAMA
Team has arrived in Dallas the capital of the
Lone Star State, TEXAS! Only 3 more hours of
travel to go!
Yesterday afternoon the UNE IFAMA Team
had the opportunity to visit the corporate
headquarters of Land O'Lakes, Inc. (LOL) with
UNE Agricultural Economics alumni Tim
Leviny and colleagues who were extremely
generous with their time and provided an
insight into the diverse and innovative cooperative operations. Vertically integrated,
LOL has become an industry leader in their
three areas of operation: Dairy Foods,
Agronomics (Winfield) and Livestock
Nutrition (Purina). "We all had a great
afternoon with such interesting professionals
within an inspirational agricultural business.

the visit!"

Join the UNE IFAMA Team on their tour of
the Cargill Food Innovation Centre. The Food
Innovation Center in Minneapolis, is the
North American hub of Cargill’s global
network of food and ingredient research and
technology centers. This network provides
access to deep technical expertise across
Cargill’s broad portfolio of ingredients and
food systems, as well as to experts in key
disciplines, such as sensory science, culinary
based-product development and analytical
and data analysis. The Minneapolis-based
Innovation Center features laboratories and
piloting facilities designed to accelerate
innovation and reduce product development
cycles while supporting the development of
solutions in: Bakery; Beverages; Snacks,
cereals and bars, and Oils, dressings and
shortenings, including frying oils. Thanks to
Rimfire Resources for arranging the visit and
a special thank you to Jody and Shaun from
Cargill for showing us around the facilities.
Today was the official opening of the 2015
IFAMA World Conference in Saint Paul,
Minnesota, USA. The UNE IFAMA Team
thoroughly enjoyed attending today's
introduction and orientation sessions where
they had the opportunity to meet the diverse
mix of teams representing universities from
around the world. The team is super excited
to be scheduled in the first round of heats
tomorrow. Bring on the 2015 IFAMA Global
Student Case Study Competition!!!
Well done to the UNE IFAMA Team for competing in the 2015 IFAMA Global Student Case Study
Competition. Wonderful effort in a competitive heat against the University of Fort Hare, SOUTH
AFRICA; Massey University, NZ; University Panamericana, MEXICO and winners of the heat Kansas
