From Modern Family to Glee, AMDA graduates have appeared on
countless hit television shows and feature films throughout the years.
From Ragtime to Wicked, you’re likely to find more AMDA alumni on
Broadway than graduates of any other performing arts college.
Jesse tyler ferguson
graD Year: 1995
Jesse received a 2010 Emmy
nomination for his performance as
Mitchell on ABC’s Modern Family.
Jesse also starred as Richie in
CBS’s The Class, on Broadway in The 25th Annual
Putnam County Spelling Bee as Leaf Coneybear,
and in Shakespeare in the Park’s The Merchant of
Venice opposite Al Pacino.
Gretchen mol
graD Year: 1992
Starring as Gillian Darmody in
Martin Scorsese’s new HBO series
Boardwalk Empire, Gretchen is
best known her performance as
the “pin-up sensation that shocked the nation” in
the 2005 film The Notorious Bettie Page. Gretchen
also starred in ABC’s Life on Mars and in the Oscarnominated film 3:10 to Yuma.
rizwan manji
graD Year: 1994
Starring in NBC’s new show
Outsourced as Rajiv Gidwani,
Rizwan has also been featured
recently on episodes of FOX’s
Glee, ABC’s Better Off Ted and the CW’s Privileged.
He can be seen in the films Transformers as Akram and
Charlie Wilson’s War as Colonel Mahmood.
emily Padgett
graD Year: 2005
Before leading the Broadway
cast of Rock of Ages as Sherrie,
Emily performed in the Broadway
productions of Grease and Legally
Blonde: The Musical. Emily also starred as Sandy in the
national touring company of Grease and as Demeter
in the national tour of Cats.
natalie Zea
graD Year: 1995
Natalie appears as Winona in
the FX series Justified, and as
Christinith in the film The Other
Guys starring Will Ferrell and
Mark Wahlberg. Natalie also starred in the NBC
daytime soap Passions and on ABC’s Dirty Sexy
Money, after which she landed a recurring role on
HBO’s Hung.
Jason derülo
graD Year: 2006
Jason’s hit single “Whatcha Say”
reached #1 on the Billboard Hot
100 chart and is featured in the
film The Town starring Ben Affleck.
Jason also appeared as himself in the MTV movie
Turn the Beat Around, has toured internationally
with Lady Gaga and performed on both American
Idol and the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards.
J. elaine marcos
graD Year: 1996
J. Elaine can be seen as Lisa
Bartlett in the feature film
Morning Glory starring Harrison
Ford, Diana Keaton and Rachel
McAdams. She also performed on Broadway in the
Tony-award winning revival of A Chorus Line, and in
the documentary film Every Little Step.
sam underwood
graD Year: 2007
Sam recently starred alongside
Alec Baldwin in a revival of Equus
at Guild Hall in East Hampton,
NY, where he earned rave reviews
from the New York Times for his portrayal of Alan
Strang. Sam also recently appeared as Eugene in
the Irish Repertory Theatre’s production of Candida.
