UN NUEVO LENGUAJE
DESARROLLO DE LA LECCIÓN
Base bíblica
Génesis 11:1-9; Hechos 2:1-12
Idea principal
Dios nos advierte que la búsqueda de la felicidad
y la realización personal sin su ayuda conducen al
caos y la desintegración social y familiar.
Para memorizar
Por eso fue llamado el nombre de este lugar
Babel, porque allí confundió Jehová el lenguaje
de toda la tierra, y desde allí los esparció sobre
la faz de la tierra (Génesis 11:9).
Lectura bíblica
Génesis 11:1 Tenía entonces toda la tierra una
sola lengua y unas mismas palabras.
4 Y dijeron....Vamos, edifiquemos una ciudad y
una torre, cuya cúspide llegue al cielo; y hagámonos un nombre, por si fuéremos esparcidos sobre
la faz de la sierra.
9 Por esto fue llamado el nombre de ella Babel, porque allí confundió Jehová el lenguaje
de toda la tierra, y desde allí esparció de sobre
la faz de toda la tierra.
Hechos 2:1 Cuando llegó el día de Pentecostés,
estaban todos unánimes juntos.
2. Y de repente vino del cielo un estruendo
como de un viento recio que soplaba, el cual
llenó toda la casa donde estaban sentados;
3 y se les aparecieron lenguas repartidas, como do
fuego, asentándose sobre cada uno de ellos.
4 Y fueron todos llenos del Espíritu Santo, y comenzaron a hablar en otras lenguas, según el
Espíritu les daba que hablasen.
7 Y estaban atónitos y maravillados, diciendo: Mirad, ¿no son galileos todos estos que hablan?
8 ¿Cómo, pues, les oímos nosotros hablar cada
uno en nuestra lengua en la que hemos nacido?
1. La experiencia de Babel (Génesis 11:1-9)
ace miles de años, cuando los hombres hablaban un solo idioma, se establecieron en una llanura, llamada Sinar y se dijeron: (1) ““Edifiquémonos una
ciudad y una torre, cuya cúspide llegue al cie­lo”. Cuando Dios les había ordenado
“poblar y llenar la tierra” Probablemente esa torre era el principio de las observaciones astrológicas y el culto a los astro, olvidando de honrar y dar culto al único
Dios creador (2) “Hagá­monos un nombre” que nos de seguridad, estabilidad e
importancia, que nos haga notables y famosos. El proyecto no era malo, el asunto
es cuando esta intención esta en contravía de Dios y en abierta oposición a Él. (3)
“Por si fuéramos esparcidos”. En vez de buscar a Dios, querían prote­gerse por su
cuenta de cualquier juicio venidero. Esto produjo la confusión de lenguas y las
dificultades que el mundo tiene para entenderse entre sí (Génesis 11:9).

2. La experiencia de Pentecostés (Hechos 2:1:4)
Cuando llegó el día de Pentecostés el mundo estaba dividido, por clases sociales,
por el color de piel, hablando diferentes idiomas, pero de repente tuvieron una
experiencia arrolladora del poder y amor de Dios. Se sintieron inundados como
por un océano de gracia celestial y todos comenzaron a entender el lenguaje de
su compañero: “Cada uno le oímos hablar en nuestro propio idioma” (2:8). Lo
sorprendente es que este hablar en “lenguas nuevas y diversas”, en vez de generar
confusión, creo al contrario un admirable ambiente de entendimiento y unidad.
El mismo Dios que había castigado la arrogancia y el or­gullo de los hombres en
Babel, ahora toma la iniciativa de la reconciliación a través de su Hijo Jesucristo,
quién envía el don del Espíritu Santo. Pentecostés es la señal de que algo nuevo
ha ocurrido en el mundo, en marcado contraste con lo sucedido en Babel.
3. Nuestra experiencia hoy (Hechos 2:5-11)
La crisis de confusión con la que Dios frustró el atrevido proyecto de Babel, tiene
muchos puntos en común con la convulsionada época moderna, con sus grandes
avances científicos y tecnológicos. Desde babel la humanidad ha mostrado querer
manejar el curso de la vida, sin tomar en cuenta a Dios. Pero al igual que allí vemos una generación desorientada y confundida por causa del egoísmo y las ambiciones personales. Tenemos una sociedad dividida, una familia fragmentada y
un mundo a punto de colapsar. Babel representa la imposibilidad de los humanos
para hablar un mismo lengua­je, para comunicarse adecuadamente. La experiencia
del Pentecostés es lo único que puede salvar nuestra sociedad de precipitarse cada
vez más en un Babel de confusión.
CONCLUSIÓN
Babel representa los esfuerzos humanos por construir su propio mundo sin tomar
en cuenta a Dios, la cual desembocó en confusión, división e incomunicación.
Pentecostés es el esfuerzo divino para atraer a los hombres hacia Él y restaurar
una nueva comunicación entre las perso­nas, por medio de la acción de su Espíritu. Pentecostés trae un nuevo lenguaje, un nuevo corazón, un cambio de intención.
Crea un nuevo pueblo llamado a vivir en unidad y armonía.

Genesis 11:1-9; Acts 2:1-12
Main Idea
God warns us that the pursuit of happiness and
personal fulfillment without His help leads to
chaos and social and family disintegration.
Memory verse
Therefore its name is called Babel, because there
the Lord confused the language of all the earth;
and from there the Lord scattered them abroad
over the face of all the earth (Genesis 11:9).
Responsive reading
Genesis 11:1 Now the whole earth had one language and one speech.
4 And they said, “Come, let us build ourselves a
city, and a tower whose top is in the heavens; let
us make a name for ourselves, lest we be scattered
abroad over the face of the whole earth.”
9 Therefore its name is called Babel, because
there the Lord confused the language of all the
earth; and from there the Lord scattered them
abroad over the face of all the earth.
Acts 2:1 When the Day of Pentecost had fully
come, they were all with one accord in one place.
2 And suddenly there came a sound from
heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting.
3 Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as
of fire, and one sat upon each of them.
4 And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit
and began to speak with other tongues, as the
Spirit gave them utterance.
7 And they were all amazed and marvelled, saying
one to another, Behold, are not all these which
speak Galilaeans?
8 And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born?
1. The experience of Babel (Genesis 11:1-9)
housands of years ago, when men spoke one language, they settled on a plain
called Shinar and said: (1) “Let us build ourselves a city and a tower whose
top is in the heavens.” While God had commanded them to “populate and fill the
earth,” that tower was probably the beginning of astrological observations and
worship of stars. They forgot to honor and worship the one Creator God. (2) “Let
us make a name for ourselves” that will give us security, stability and importance, that will make us notable and famous. The project was not bad; the issue is
when this intention counters God and is in open opposition to Him. (3) “Lest we
be scattered abroad.” Instead of seeking God, they wanted to protect themselves
from any future judgment. This produced the confusion of languages and the difficulties that people have to understand one another (Genesis 11:9).

2. The experience of Pentecost (Acts 2:1-4)
When the day of Pentecost came, the world was divided by social classes, skin
color, and languages. But, suddenly, they had an overwhelming experience of
God’s power and love. They felt flooded by an ocean of celestial grace and everyone began to understand the language of his partner: “… we hear each in our
own language” (2:8). What is surprising is that this speaking in “new and different
languages,” rather than generating confusion, created an admirable atmosphere
of understanding and unity. The same God who had punished the arrogance and
pride of men in Babel, now takes the initiative of reconciliation through His Son
Jesus Christ, who sends the gift of the Holy Spirit. Pentecost is the sign that something new has happened in the world, in stark contrast to what happened in Babel
3. Our experience today (Acts 2:5-11)
The confusion crisis with which God foiled the daring project of Babel has much
in common with today’s troubled times, with the great scientific and technological
advances. Since Babel, mankind has been showing signs of wanting to manage
the course of life without taking God into account. But just as in Babel, we see
a generation disoriented and confused due to selfishness and personal ambitions.
We have a divided society, a fragmented family, and a world about to collapse.
Babel represents the inability of humans to speak the same language to communicate properly. The experience of Pentecost is the only thing that can save our
society from plunging more and more into a Babel of confusion.
CONCLUSION
Babel represents human efforts to build their own world without regard for God,
which led to confusion, division and isolation. Pentecost is the divine effort to
attract men toward Him and restore a new communication among people, through
the action of His Spirit. Pentecost brings a new language, a new heart, and a change of intent. It creates a new people called to live in unity and harmony.
